My idea on the galaxy thing, change it to a star, and maybe add some planets in the distance or something.

Nah! It will loose the money shot!

Or maybe an impressive scene of planets some of them destroyed in a nabula dust... oh no the PT sydrom hits again

It's my fault.  I'm the idiot that brought up the PT is this forum weeks back.

Idea: CLONE WARS FAN EDIT(s) floating ideas...
Time

If a CLONE WARS edit is in order, and a replacement for the Hutt plot is the concept, I agree that the best way to go is with the Malevolence triliogy and the fan-favorite "Layer of General Grievous" episode.

I see the Malevolence as a starship version of the Death Star, which in turn harkens back to classic Star Wars.  And what's best about the new Star Wars is the connections to the old Star Wars.

Star Wars usually takes an idea from elsewhere in the history of film and distorts it to make it fit into the fantasy realm it's in, Coruscant is all the big cities from the golden age of cinema placed end to end and pulled up and up, Han is all the wild west roguish heroes (only with a space ship) etc.

The fantasy realm itself is pulled from myths and saga's from throughout history, it's an Arthurian Samurai Biblical Sheherazade Western in outer space.

Jedi Rocks and Lapti Nek just remind me of The Android Sisters in the original Battlestar Galactica (which is ironic as they were meant to be their take of the Cantina Band).

G E Predator said : People watched and enjoyed it in 1977, 1980 and 1983 and no one asked questions. It worked very well for the audience back then, and it still works just as well today. Sound in space and English-speaking aliens are all part of Lucas' masterpeice.

People have watched Jedi since 1983 and remarked about not liking that scene and the SE made more people unhappy than happy with it. Back in 1983 no one ever expected films to be reworked (the special edition of Close Encounters was the only well known reworking). Now things can be changed with a great deal of hard work and that's what fan-editing it about, it doesn't erase the original version or the SE version from history if it is changed, it just means that there can be other options out there.

okay, but let me ask you this:  Did you see ROTJ in theaters in 1983?

Very yes.

enough said.

(Put's on best Nichelle Nichols voice) "And what's that supposed to mean?"

Sorry.  I don't know who Nichelle Nichols is.

And I do all my RPing on MySpace.

Maybe.

But Star Wars and the others are movies.  First and foremost.  As movies, they need to work for the audience before anything else.  This applies to alien creatures speaking English, to spaceships making noise in outer space.  If something isn't watchable, using "it is in a different universe" doesn't apply.  It is a movie made for people to watch and enjoy it.  It is not something that just exists and we are watching it in a telescope trying to understand why it works that way in that galaxy far far away.

The cantina band works because it has that house band sound of films from the 30's and 40's but filtered through an alien lens.

The Jabba palace scene is an exotic dance, striptease (without the strip) scene and that's my main objection to either piece of music (the poor puppetry in the OUT and the poor CGI in the SE versions just add to the missmatch).

It should be debaunched and grotesque in a sleazy sort of way and neither piece of music matches the mood the scene is trying to convey.

In the Star Wars Universe, different rules can (and sometimes do) apply.

I know that a lot of people are very attached to Lapti Nek (the album version) but I think both versions are just as bad as Jedi Rocks.

Examine the scene, it's basically a strip show/exotic dancer performance so rather than disco or funkish R&B it should be more alien Burlesque.

Well, you are entitled to your opinion, which I respect.

I, on the other hand,  like both Lapti Nek and Jedi Rocks. I've seen the scene countless times, and my opinion of it hasn't changed.

Because he sees the potential there to make something decent, via hard work in editing.

Not at the expense of damaging the movie though.

No offense, but I don't think that he could actually damage the movie.

And like you said, he's edits of the PT are a long way off.

Im not offended, Im not Lucas!! And yes the PTs are a long way off and like I said before, just like the OTs, I might be pleasantly surprised by the PTs. Here's hoping! ;)

That's good.  If Ady does the PT justice, that's fine.  If not, we still have the DVDs in our collection.

That's actually the smartest thing anyone has every said around here.  "If you don't like them, then don't watch them."  It's as simple as that.

I don't mind the prequels, and I like all six of the films as they are.

That part is at least cute in its misguided nature. The part where he makes the indirect accusation that Adywan is "sabotaging" the PT is what's laughably stupid.

I see.  Well, I wouldn't go as far to say that he's "sabotaging" them.  That's a little too strong of a term.

but the trailer will be coming out on the 21st may to mark the greatest star wars movie and not the 19th so not a  bloody phatman menace celebration. lol

i just can't wait to get my hands on those PT moies so i can rip them to shreds.

HAHAHAHA

(can you tell i'm buzzing my tits off on painkillers at the moment? I cracked my whole canine tooth off and no chance of getting to a dentist anytime soon and the hsopital won't touch any dental work unless refered to them by a dentist. catch 22. thanks you the UK government for making our NHS so crap)

Sorry about that painkillers, Ady.

I admit that the OT has a better plot than the PT.  I have a saying, "Special effects don't make a good movie.  They only make a movie look good."  But I wouldn't suggest "ripping them to shreds."  The PT has some good plot points.  Like Palpatine's rise from a Senator to Emperor and how he manipulates every event that leads to the rise of the Galactic Empire.

I think the official EU (read: bullshit ass-covering) explanation is that the warranty on Artoo's jets had expired by the time of the OT, forcing his CPU to lock them off, or something stupid like that.

I think they should be removed from the PT, not added to the OT.  I thought they were ridiculous and, frankly, stupid.

I knew this wasnt accurate so I did a little research for you. I got this off of wikipedia (got love them). "The DK Star Wars Complete Visual Guide says that R2-D2 "eventually damaged his boosters," and the company that made them had been shut down by the Empire at that point. " Personally I love the fact that Lucasfilm tries to fix continuity flaws in this manner. This explanation makes perfect sense. Problem solved.

Frankly the entire Star Wars universe is very tight with continuity, especially when compared to other universes. You want a continuity flaw disaster area. Try being a trekkie. Oh man, that universe is a complete mess and I'm only talking about the stuff that they put on screen.

So as far as R2's thrusters are concerned they neither need to be removed from Episodes I-III or added to IV-VI.

My two cents...

I'll buy that.

In the prequels and CW Series we see R2 use his rockets which we didnt at all in the originals. Could R2 use his rockets to get into the X-Wing when Luke is on Dagobah when Luke leaves to help Leia and Han? As we saw on ANH, it seemed liked a big production to get the droids in the ship. But then in ESB there isnt anyway for him to get in.

I know this was breifly covered a few pages back but I though showing R2 boosting his way into the X-Wing and/or boosting his way out on Cloud City.

Well, even though we don't see him use those boosters, it doesn't necessarily mean that he didn't use them.  Also, it is possible to say that his boosters' fuel supply was on empty at the time of  the OT.

Just throwing some possible explanations out there.

Is Luke with his jacket off, then later on again a continuity error? or is there time for him to put the jacket on again in the actual film. (I don't have ESB to hand to check at the current moment!)

you see him put his jacket on afterwards. if you are short of a film, you can find them on youtube.

i don't want to get fire-balled if this has been mentioned already, but it would be interesting to see yodas eyes look around a bit more, i find them quite static. mainly just in his little speech where he is animated quite alot.

the yoda clip from ady from waay back is stunning, and i like the little clip from G E PREDATOR too, i agree with frank, it would be good in an alternative ESB adition, maybe like an infinities version.

(ps, i hope this doesn't linger, but if you have a beef with a member, PM him/her, it leaves a horrible taste on a thread otherwise, no offense intended to any party)

Thank you for the compliment.  I did make it as an alternate thing just for fun.  Sorta like, "What if Luke did believe and successfully lift his X-Wing from the swamp?  Does that mean that he would be powerful enough to defeat Vader before ROTJ?"  Just like the Infinity novels.  It's just a little something that I wanted to share.

That clip works really well! i personally don't think the film needs it, but as an edit its great. Perhaps it would be good if someone was to make a condensed or alternative ESB.

I left plenty of time for Luke to run over and slip on his jacket after he lifts his X-Wing, so...no, it's not a continuity error.

And like I said, it's not a suggesting or something Adywan has to add in.  It's just something that I wanted to share with all of you.

^ Interesting edit - and watching that video reminded me of a suggestion I raised many moons ago, but am not too sure what (if anything) is being done about it: is Ady planning on adjusting the motion of the nose of the X-Wing as it comes down to rest on the ground in this sequence? To make it looks less plastic-y and model-y, and more like a heavy spacecraft? Maybe if the nose-tip buckled, slightly, when it first touches down, for example?

First off, let me just say...thank you :)

Second, I would think that the marshness of Dagobah's swamplands would sorta coushin the X-Wing when it sets down after being lifted from the swamp water.  But that's just my opinion.
