EyeShotFirst said:Like I said before what ever Ady is doing I hope he is comfortable. Working with computers all day can be damn frustrating. I get pissed at mine all of the time.
I know that feeling. Which is why I take time away from my computer to enjoy family, fresh air and anything else.
Darksaber said:Can't believe the cheek of some of you guys, Ady's been working his bollocks off for the past 3 years correcting and improving these films, doing the same work, Lucas employs a company to do, or should I say should have done, and you bloody moan that he's having a break from them for a while.
For christ sake give the guy a break, does he have to post every single thing he does in a day? I think not!
Moaning about it won't make Ady work any faster!
I know what you mean. It's not like Ady is obligated to do ESB:R. He should do it only for the fun of it.
ChainsawAsh said:Perhaps, but I'm quite satisfied with the way I've done it using the DVD-9. I feel I've adhered pretty closely to the feel of the original cut, while not compromising the grand scale Adywan has added to it.
By the way, the new TIE reveal is still there, it's just not as long, and doesn't pan around after they fly past the camera.
I can easily picture how that is going to look ^^
ChainsawAsh said:I'm still working on it, I just hit a bit of writer's block and needed a short break. I'm already 3/4 of the way done with my Star Wars edit (and can't work on ESB until Ady's done with ESB:R), and once I've finished with that it's right back to the Ep. 1 script.
That's cool.

I thought it was cute as well, though it does eliminate the element of surprise when we find out that Darth Vader and his troops arrived ahead of time.

Seriously? A SNES game soundtrack in a movie? I won't deny that the music itself is quite nice, but the quality? Really? Also the way it comes in is quite jarring.
Here's a little tip: Don't think about the music the IS there. Think about the music that is GOING to be there.
Darth Chronus said:Cade Skywalker said:Just dreaming of what could have been... plus this thread is in the need of mockups since vaderios has exams. :D
Sweet. I wonder what the first screenplay would have been like.
I actually read the first screenplay (don't ask me how I got it). And according to which, Luke surrenders to General Veers, who had been ordered to bring Luke to Vader's Star Destroyer. Grand Moff Jerjerrod makes contact with the shuttle's captain and tells Veers that Luke is to be brought before the Emperor on Had Abbadon, the capital of the Galatic Empire (which we now know as Coruscant) instead, but Veers refuses this order. On the Star Destroyer, Luke once again confronts Vader, and Vader once again asks his son to join in. Grand Moff Jerjerrod interupts in a furious manner at Vader for disobeying his orders to bring Luke to the Emperor. In responce, Vader grabs Jerjerrod by the neck, chokes and kills him (very much like he did to Captain Antilles in ANH).
Then Vader was to escort Luke to Had Abbadon and bring him before the Emperor in his throne room, which was so far down in the planet that it was in a cave surrounded by lava. Vader is being held back by two of the gaurds while the Emperor tries to seduce Luke to the Dark Side. Obi-Wan and Yoda appear both in spirit form and threaten the Emperor with the notion that Luke's power is greater than his. When Vader does come into scene, the Emperor orders him to destroy Luke. Luke uses the Force to take his father's lightsaber since his was already conficated. The Emperor gives Vader a lightsaber that he had hid up his sleeve, and the duel takes place.
In the end, Vader looses his hand either from it being burned off in lava or Luke cutting it off. Vader begs Luke to kills him, but Luke refuses and gives his father his lightsaber back. The Emperor again orders Vader to kill Luke, but Vader refuses and claims that he cannot bring himself to do it. The Emperor fires Sith Lightning at Luke, who deflects it with his hand. Each time Luke deflects the Emperor's lightning, images of Obi-Wan and Yoda appear and the exact moment of impact. The bolts become more intense as Luke is forced to his knees, then Vader rises up and grabs the Emperor as he drags both them to their deaths by falling in lava.

that sounds like you're including your own edits in that statement!
is that what you meant?????
Sounds like he meant that yes. I can imagine why too. Thousands of hours spent staring at these movies, going over the same footage time and time again....probably enough to make Adywan sick to his stomach....I'd probably feel the same way too after years of nothing but Star Wars films...
Further proof that too much of anything is bad for you.
EyeShotFirst said:Well Adys still has the same exact plot as every other version. His just visually dominates all other releases not to mention the sound quality. His colour correction was the best ever. Darth Vader sounds like friggin Darth Vader now. I love the duel (some didn't but I did) what a way to liven up that fencing contest LOL. The original though badass at the time could have been a little better seeing the uber awesomeness in the ESB duel. Ady gave us the high tension duel. I just hope and pray he lightens up the epicness of the ROTS duel.
Oh I agree to that. With just simple editing, Ady took the Obi-Wan/Vader duel and really amped it up. And the Battle of Yavin is visually 10 times better than what was first seen. However, I'm consider all versions of Star Wars ANH to be "definitive." Not just ANH:R.
After all, if not for the first Star Wars release in 1977, we most likely wouldn't even have this website.
EyeShotFirst said:When I got ANH R I never touched my 2004 dvds again. They are just sitting on a shelf collecting dust.
Not me. GOUT, Special Editions and Revisited....it's all good to me cause the one thing that hasn't changed about this classic is the excellent plot.
And as good as ANH:R is and how good ESB:R will be, I always remember that it was Lucas who introduced us to Star Wars to begin with.
vaderios said:fishmanlee said:how about with the Yoda vs Opaltine could is a more quicker version of Yoda's theme be inserted into there instead of duel of fates? maybe add some of the Empys theme?
Yoda's and palps theme is slow pacing. no need
-Angel
Actually, the Yoda theme played during the Cloud City evacuation and the deleted portion from the Carbon freeze duel is fast paste and epic.
Davnes007 said:VHS? Is that like DVD, or something?
LOL VHSs are those little black rectangle things that people used to put in different kinds of play boxes when they wanted to watch a movie. They came before DVDs, Netflix, YouTube, BluRay and all these other wonder ways we have to watch our favorite flicks.

It's actually the kind of thing I had in mind - the whole Hayden-Shaw morph and vice versa. Very good video btw, it's just that I found the Shaw pic with longer hair and the scar more appealing since it shows that Anakin is older, but could still be an older version of the guy we saw in the prequels. I gave you 5/5 on that video. :)
I have another suggestion - maybe we should have either a rebel x-wing explode with the pilots body floating off into space (ala TESB and ROTS) or even a TIE Pilot. It'd add to the excitement of the end space battle.
First off, let me say thank you.
Second, execpt for the scar, I like you idea of depicting Shaw as Anakin more closely to Hayden. If I may make a suggestion, I also came up with an idea of making Shaw's hair coloring almost match Hayden's. The logic is that Anakin is supposedly about 20-25 years younger than Obi-Wan.
Third, I also like the idea of pilots flying out of their exploded space fighters. Though, I won't be able to pull it off since I don't have After Effects. I do all my editing in Adobe Premeire Pro.

Since this forums about animated Star Wars, here is one that I made of the Battle of Yavin:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aedcrQZ3qk
It includes a few of my own original characters.
vaderios said:G E Predator said:Also if I may point out, the Empire strictly employed white males, some of whom tend to get over confident.
I hope that doesnt open a big debate about racist content like the one im reading about black transformers and crap all over the net...
just sayin...

Oh far from it, Vaderios.
Janskeet said:Yes, looks like Adywan decided to scrap this shot. I think it is prettty good. I might try to incorperate it. I think he didn't like it because all the Tie fighters look too coordinated.
I actually have something like this is my animated version of the Battle of Yavin:

Knightmessenger said:Possessed said:Someone could completely remaster ANH's audio, to remove that tinny sound it has and make the dialougue flow better.
Isn't the PCM stereo of the 1993 mix pretty good? Or even '97? Did they really gain much more clarity by attempting to use as many higher generation generation sources that were poorly mixed together.
Personally, I'd want a second look on the color correction. It's .5 past light speed ahead of the 2004 dvd's and the difference feels like a state of the art restoration. Sometimes, I'm wondering "Was the movie really supposed to be that clear." But the job by Lucasfilm was so TERRIBLE that I've said many times I'm not sure if it can be completely fixed. In particular, I thought the face tones on the Death Star looked a little washed out and pale. But I was watching this from a youtube upload.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSATV2vnhAQ
Unfortunately, the guy who uploaded said he only had Windows Movie Maker and it wouldn't let him display it properly. So you have a 2.35 movie in a 16x9 frame pillarboxed instead of letterboxed.
That "guy" is me
ChainsawAsh said:Really? It's a soundtrack for a book? That's fucking stupid.
Is it really? Cause I have the soundtrack to Shadows of the Empire, and I think the music is great.
rcb said:for the cloaking device debate, the sith infiltrator, maul's ship, was a craft developed by the sith and since it was created by the sith, it has a cloaking device. the sith aren't retards and they needed to keep a low profile. i'm sure someone would've noticed a sith infilitrator taking off out of couruscant traffic. its a bit noticeable.
and ady, no offense to u, but u can't take everyline in a movie, in this case ESB, seriously.
I agree with both of your statements.
Also if I may point out, the Empire strictly employed white males, some of whom tend to get over confident. One could say that as far as they know, the Millennium Falcon or any ship of equal or lesser size wouldn't have a cloaking device.
Davnes007 said:fishmanlee said:...han's feeling of not seeing "her" (the falcon) again
That 'feeling' was supposed to make it seem like something would happen, and make the climax more exciting when they actually made it out alive.
There's just something about these "feelings" that make some people think. Like Obi-Wan saying to Anakin, "Why do I get the feeling that you're going to be the death of me?" A feeling that (from a certain point of view) came to pass decades later. And the occasional "I have a bad feeling about this," that is accompanied by the situation somehow becoming worse that it was before.
So while I still like the "happy" ending with the Falcon making it out of the Death Star II before it explodes, I agree that the Facoln's destruction and the death of Lando would contribute to the continuity of the whole "I gotta a feeling..." thing.
vaderios said:i just noticed that lando can be erased easily for the scenario of his death at the end :)

True, but I'm curious. Why kill of Lando?
...And just to help keep this thread going, here's a little something that lets fans of Sebastian Shaw and fans of Hayden Christainsen have a little of both:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNCHbuhFoIY
Just to clear things up, this video "Alternate Anakins" is not an idea pitch for ROTJ:R. It was for a contest that I was holding on YouTube. The contest is long over now, but I still welcome random comments.
adywan said:Just a quickie here. A few people have asked me about the difference in picture quality between the 2004 DVD's and the 720p version of Revisited. I'm really surprised that some people are saying that there isn't a noticeable difference between an upscaled DVD and a 720p video and that i am wasting my time doing this in 720p when an upscaled DVD would look the same and it would take me less time to go back to working with DVD res.
Well here is a snapshot showing the difference. The DVD has been upscaled to 720p using a high quality upscaler. Now tell me that an upscaled DVD looks as good as HD. If you do you need to go to specsavers. lol
Just make sure you click on the image after it loads to give you the full res.
You're not wasting your time, Ady. Someone who uses his free time to create -- or in your case, perfect -- something is not wasting his time.
