But there is still no explanation why Obi Wan aged so badly compared to Qui Gon and Dooku (within character, I don't mean the actors).

BUT... Mark Hamill aged pretty badly didn't he? Imagine him playing Luke nowadays....

Luke: "Ben, why didn't you tell me?? ... Why didn't you tell me! Why didn't you tell me how to age better!"

Obi Wan's Ghost: "Hey don't look at me, my master, Qui Gon, didn't pass on that knowledge to me! That bastard!"

I believe that I can explain that.  For 19 years, Luke and Obi-Wan lived on Tattooine, a desert planet with two suns.  My theory is that those who are not native to Tattooine may experience some excessive aging over a period of years due to the two sun.  And as we know from the prequels, Luke and Obi-Wan were not born on Tattooine.

Well, when I first saw TPM in '99, I heard that little element of the Imperial March and I thought to myself, "If they put the Imperial March in the prequel(s), then it should also be in ANH."

Now of course, that's already been done.  So, now that only thing I can think of for a further enhanced ANH:SE would be to enhance some of R2's movements, particularly with his head when he's in the three-legged position.  Aside from that one close up shot of him before meeting that Jawa's, R2 doesn't turn his head at all in ANH when he's in the three-legged position.

Very well expressed. Adywan really has created a fan edit of the highest order. It's a labour of love, and it shows. But it doesn't top Star Wars in its theatrical form, and no fan edit ever really can. To consider such things is to wipe out the colossal cultural impact Star Wars had, unblemished, for 20 years. No fan edit should be able to do that.

Of course, no fan edit could ever top Star Wars in its theatrical release.  As I had pointed out in another forum weeks ago, had it not been for the theatrical release of Star Wars, we wouldn't have any of the amazing fan-films or fan-edits, or even this website.

Hell we wouldn't have fan edits or this website if the special editions weren't the only way to watch a decent quality version of star wars. If they had just cleaned up the movie and maybe just maybe re-rotoscoped the sabers and blasters all would be well. I am puzzled as to why George doesn't want to release these masterpieces in higher quality than laserdisc. Hell he won't even release his beloved special editions on blu ray. 10 years ago I thought that George Lucas was a film and sound quality god. His films were this representation of the picture and audio quality on the planet. He used to grasp the latest technological achievements by the balls to make his films look just a tad better. Now Blu Ray has been out for what 4 years and he can't even release the god awful special editions or his horrible prequels on blu ray. It is a shame that many star wars fans get shit on every 5 years. 1080p is the standard today and the only way I can see the OUT is in 480p.

"The boy has no patients" - Yoda XD

Seriously, my friend, don't get so over worked.  Have faith that Lucasfilms will eventually release a High Definition version of all six films and with the option to view either enhanced or theatrical versions.

As the old saying goes, "good things come to those who can wait."  I'm not saying to wait forever.  I'm just saying, "Let's not hate.  Instead, let's appreciate."

On the other hand, I don't care for the Emperor theme in the briefing room. The Emperor isn't there. "Battle of the Heroes' plays when Obi and Darth do battle again. "Imperial March" plays when the Empire is shown to kick ass. Emperor's theme plays when... some dudes have a staff meeting. It just doesn't feel right to me.

I'm not 100% sure of this, but I believe Adywan included the Emperor's theme (more specifically, "Palpatine's Teachings" from the ROTS soundtrack) in that scene because the Emperor and was mentioned.

actually its the emperors theme from either Jedi/TPM or maybe AOTC, because the ROTS empy theme has no choir, while the other 2 (or 3) have the choir, also its not "palpatines teachings" its "sidious revealed" from the TFU mixed with the official Soundtrack and other sources

That little haunting piece at proceeds the Emperor's theme is what kinda hinted to me that "Palpatine's teachings" was used to the Death Star brief meeting scene in ANH:R.

I have the ROTS Soundtrack and compared it to the bit used when Vader chokes Motti, and it appears to be 'Palpatine's Teachings' :)

Exactly!

I got to thinking about the scene in ANH when Luke is cleaning the droids and accidentally triggers Leia's message.  In all GL releases, the audio from the message is out of sync from the hologram.  This was thought to be a movie mistake, but then I remembered that 3PO mentions that the restraining bolt on R2 is "short-circuiting his recording system."  The restraining bolt could be responsible for out-of-sync audio in that scene, and thus the mistake may not be a mistake at all.

According to Ady, there are no speed-ups in the Ben/Vader fight, just faster cuts.  Interesting, no?

That's actually true.  Using his ANH:R as reference, I attempted to duplicate what he did using the 2004 DVD (Ady, don't be angry about that.  I did give you credit in the vid)

And the end result is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTFo2dWt5fY

Why is this thread dead. I think we should continue to elaborate on this. I have an idea that would be interesting. The Family Guy Blue Gender animation is a good basis. I think instead of starting from scratch we could use the films as blue prints. Basically drawing over what is already there. Now the adding filters thing doesn't work. I am saying to basically do it frame by frame then afterwords we could even have the extra biggs and luke on tatooine scene LOL.

You mean Family Guy Blue "Harvest"

Where did you get "gender" from?

Oh shit sorry that was an anime from the 90's LOL. I meant Harvest thank you LOL.

Ah, I see.  LOL well, that's why pencils have erasers.

Yellow Harvest (ROTJ Fan Edit) (* unfinished project *)
Time

Wait a minute!  Let's calm down here for a minute.

I know Fishmanlee is no Adywan, but he is a fan just like the rest of us.  He simply wants to be more involved, and let's be honest.  How many of you have been the one kid in school who kept to himself because everyone else picked on him or excluded him from recess games?

Com'n, be honest.  Let's see a show off hands.

We start excluding people from the forums, we'll be no different than the school yard bullies.

Maybe next year, after ESB:R is finished, i may do a V2 of ANH:R with a few very minor changes with a commentary track.

The only thing I would suggest for a ANH:R 2 would be to remove the Trade Federation Droid head from the Jawa Sandcrawler.  It was cute, but not really necessary.  Also, it boggles the mind.  We haven't seen the Seperatist army anywhere on Tatooine, and Jawas are not known for traveling off of Tattooine.

OK, I've been afraid to admit it, but I was thinking about writing a fan fic about that battle droid (OK, I started writing it).  I'm thinking it was discarded by Jabba after buying a few dozen after the war, but they weren't very efficient.  Don't want to spoil too much in case there's actually an interest and I feel like actually finishing a writing project (I'm not much of a writer, just an idea kinda guy).

It would be interesting to see how a battle droid would function without the remote assistance from a Trade Federation Ship.  One would argue that Palpatine gave the order to have all of the Trade Federation droids shut down.  Then again, he also gave the famous "Order 66" to the clone army to kill all the Jedi, and in the book "Dark Lord: Rise of Darth Vader" it was revealed that not every clone trooper followed that order.

That being said, I look forward to your fan fic about that battle droid head in Adywan's fan edit.

Yes, though I really liked the voice acting, I can't say the same thing about the microphone quality...

This is obviously not your fault, though! But if mrbenja is planning to redub ALL of the dialogue the quality of the recordings used should be consistent throughout the movie.

The voice test was merely for auditioning purposes only.  I can easily fix the quality of the audio.

And I agree.  The audio quality should be consistent throughout the movie.

That's cool man. I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks.  It's always good to be sure of something.  If you want, I can do a HQ voice dub using the entire scene (minus the Anakin/Padme introduction part of course).
