My biggest issue with the first 35mm scan of Jurassic Park is how washed out the colours are. This print has more vibrant colours which I approve.

The new sample frames have a subtle yellow tint, so watch out for that.

blindly applied my newest calibration for the scanner (based on comparison to 35mm print for TPM trailer) which I think is getting to be pretty close (at least for the other stock) and they look a touch less yellow now:

Gorgeous!

These are supposed to be lesser quality then the official studio prints remastered the same way. why am I having a hard time believing this. other then the line and actually having film grain which is an improvement the line not at all. this doesn’t look remotely like lower stock.

This edit is including the Ahsoka Clone Wars during Revenge of the Sith! That’s the major goal.

EddieDean has floated the idea of a Phantom Menance TV series edit over at his Clone Wars Refocused thread, so feel free to check that out.

The reason I thought of that is someone is animating anakin vs obi wan in the clone wars style.

I’m pretty sure them using Shaw when for unmasked Vader is because he was a seasoned actor who turned in an amazing performance. Prowse was a body actor. Look at his filmography on Wikipedia. I’m not really sure why he was so upset or what he was expecting. Playing tall imposing monsters was basically his thing.
Not saying that in a derogatory way at all. The body acting for Vader by Prowse is masterful. But that’s what Prowse was.

I not a huge fan of the prequals, but coming to accept them more since kenobi tie-ins and Hall9000 edits. I actually like this idea for the vader un-masking. and I never thought I would say that (also nice to see it released in HD or scaled). needs some sharpening on the eyes and maybe some fix on the skin under the eyes (compositing), but I like the effort here…still not sure hot it should end with the ghost and was going to go shaw in my extended version, which still might work since he doesn’t speak. I think shaws acting is good and that would still remain.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbrzXdiuxi4

That actually looks a lot better than I expected. Still needs a lot of work obviously, but it works as a proof-of-concept. For the ghost part, I’ve been thinking for a while that it could be interesting to go all-in on the PT tie-ins by deep faking Yoda and Obi-Wan back to their ROTS versions as well. Maybe even throw in Qui-Gon to really cement the old gang being back together, since him having a force ghost form is apparently canon now.

I hope they have Luke meet qui gon in the new canon comics so this could work even better so Luke can develop a connection to qui gon.

If there was a way to make phantom menace a tv series length plus fixing its warts and include the inbetween stories of anakin being trained by obi wan before attack of the clones that would be awesome. Same for attack of the clones and revenge of the sith but including the ahsoka clone wars stuff and the stuff of her at padme’s funeral.

You know, that’s not a bad idea. Issue with Jar Jar is that nobody really meaningfully interacts with him. And he’s still an idiot. But what if he’s on a kind of personal quest, kind of like the Quarian pilgrimage from Mass Effect, where they leave the tribe in order to find and bring back something of value? And what if he- perhaps in an extremely naive way- decides he’s going to seek Padmé so he can make peace between the Naboo and the Gungans?

It’s a very naive, overly optimistic thing, which the audience and other characters can pass off as being silly, and they can completely dismiss him.

But, it would explain why he’s eager to join/guide the Jedi to Padmé, why he sticks around, and ultimately why he suggests the Gungan army to Padmé.

In his scene where he meets Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon, he could clumsily explain part of this - “Mesa on a personal quest, but then thesa droids attacking, and mesa getting lost!”, into leading them to Theed.

In the scene where Padmé asks Jar Jar why he’s still with them, he could explain it more clearly- that he’s seeking her because he wants to make peace. Her facial expressions there give the impression that she thinks he’s cute- but dismissable.

Padmé and Jar Jar have a more serious conversation on Coruscant about their peoples, which also could include a little extra.

Then, you wouldn’t need to do much more- Padmé and the Gungan king would talk as before, and at the end he’d declare “Peace!” to Jar Jar’s cheers.

Wow you figured out a way to make jar jar a character instead of a lame joke character.

Just out of curiosity is it possible to get the film prints for Buffy and angel?
Time

Just thought I ask didn’t think this question through because even if they were out there the effects would have to be updated and that would be taxing work. so Buffy is doomed to be stuck with that awful hd remaster because Disney hates buffy fans and fans of the fox catalog as a whole. It also doesn’t help that joss whedon isn’t in the greatest light now. 😦

Per the WordPress site,
“Remove Yub Nub & Victory Celebration”

That must have been written waaaay back, during the briefest of times i was thinking of ending it on the funeral pyre. The ending is going to be pretty much the theatrical ending. NO planets, no Hayden, no Victory Celebration. I hate the SE planet celebrations and victory celebration music. Victory celebration sounds so out of place musically. Williams just basically ripped off the original animatic guide track ( and didn’t even bother to try and hide the fact) and it sounds so out of place in the OT. The guide track was for a Native American mini series and you can tell it still has that theme.

The original animatic guide track?

The turbine releases video is even a huge upgrade its sharper brighter and black levels and the colors are better.

I haven’t got the US set to compare to but if the evidence is to be believed it is a good upgrade. I was given a couple of stills from the Turbine set for the episode Give Me Liberty… Or Give Me Death. I’ve corrected the Colorspace issue on the UK set and compared the screenshots. They are almost identical. Certainly the colour is indistinguishable from the Turbine set. The Turbine shot had marginally better detail / film grain. It just shows how frustrating it was that the Fabulous Films set had the colorspace issue as they were very good transfers.

I look at a comparison on YouTube and it’s night and day the mill creek release looked inbetween a upscale and this blu ray and not really in a good way the color’s actually pop on turbines release it’s amazing.

I know I’ve seen that but even so. I have a Burial Ground VHS NICAM recording from the UK Bravo channel around 2000. I recall when I last played it, the sound was only on one channel. I left it and didn’t bother exploring further.
When I next get my VHS deck set up I’m going to capture it and listen to the audio more carefully.
It could possibly be that it was just the 1 channel of the stereo which should be pretty easy to tell when listening to the opening theme.
If that is the case, it introduces the possibility that the original stereo master was damaged or discarded when it was found to be faulty.

Although I don’t own this set, my initial thoughts from reading about it were it is indeed the ultimate set for collectors.

However, I do have some concerns for it’s completeness. I’ve asked a friend to compare episodes to my reconstructed ones.

One that is now confirmed is evidence that the Knight of the Drones intro on the set is probably reconstructed rather than original. That isn’t a problem in itself - in fact, it shows great dedication on the part of Turbine in putting it back together. The result though is that it is missing the short sequence of KITT’s dash that was unique to that opening. They’ve replaced it using a similar shot, just as I did when I recreated it myself.

I hear turbine media seems to be a company that goes above and beyond to give you the complete package. like shout factory only competent unlike what shout has become as of late.

I’m not convinced that there was never a stereo track for KotJ or Burial Ground. Not one in existence now perhaps, but it would be odd for an episode midway through the season to be mono when the rest are stereo.

I guess we may never know…

Here’s a reply about it on blu-ray.com forum

Knight of the Juggernaut I kinda get as it was the first episode so possibly time deadlines and being off location in Chicago maybe it wasn’t ideal to do it.

Can’t really explain Burial Ground, only other than the fact that it’s the third episode of the season to be filmed so maybe the Stereo equipment for filming failed or something or again time and budget.

My take on it I take it as a huge win because the usa release is completely incomplete in comparison and just having the two eps audio being mono and not having the extended preview is to me a ok loss. at least it’s a petty much complete we never had a release this complete.
