Done!
Done!

I have said on the Legacy forum: believe me, this is just the beginning. And, for better or worse, while there will likely continue to be some things which I just can't say, one thing I can assure you is that Star Wars is safely under the wings of some mighty protectors.

Like the National Film Registry!?
Thanks, much obliged.
Have you considered donating a print to the Library of Congress? Fill that void they've held for nigh on 40 years!
Remarkable work, M. Verta. Congratulations!
I thought it was time to revisit these again.
A significant improvement over the BD versions, as you can probably tell.
Thinking about it, has anyone kept copies of the DVD covers themselves?
It looks good, for the most part! However, some haloing - particularly in the opening shot over Tatooine - is a little jarring. As for detail loss, I'll probably have to put a difference matte on it with the source or something; I'll confess that my eye is not trained for fine details.
I wonder how superresolution can treat motion smearing artifacts. Thinking about it, they'd probably stick out.

I'm basing the disc labels off my VHS copies from the 90s. Only thing I've changed is how the content is arranged. So ESB and ROTJ will include the CBS FOX logo. The tapes list ANH at 124 mins, ESB at 128 mins, and ROTJ at 134 mins. However, they are not the special editions. . . so there's a mystery.
It may be accounting for whatever's at the start and the end of the tape.

Anakin's real look in his 40s is the one we see when Luke removes the helmet. His ghost had an unreal appearence, so Lucas decided to show him as he appeared last time he was by the light side.
A vast oversight on his behalf, because the last time he was alive (on either side) he looked like Sebastian Shaw, and Obi-Wan and Yoda's ghosts look exactly as they did when they died. And don't tell me "he metaphorically died when he turned to the dark side" - again, he looked like Sebastian Shaw when he redeemed himself - see what I'm saying?
It's not about metaphors. The only ghosts we see in the saga are the ones of light side Jedi. "Old Shaw" was not a Jedi, not anymore.
The trouble with that change in the '04 is Lucas's lazyness. Instead of putting Christensen's head from an unused take on Shaw's body, he could have had him playing the part specifically for that scene. It would have been much better.
That's true.
I have no idea, but Luke's expression is classic.
The marked improvement over the source never ceases to amaze me. Can't wait to see it in action!
Anyway... most of the CGI was pretty good, I thought. Certainly, they haven't aged well, but for their time they were good. The exceptions of course being Greedo shooting first (Han's neck just sort of twists out of place, don't you notice!?), Anakin's ghost, and that unconvincing pan/zoom of Jabba's gate.

Does anyone know where I can find the artwork for the Faces VHSs without all the text and logos?

Or, if it qualifies, when they changed the names of the original movies from just "Star Wars" to "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope", etc. ...you can't do that! You can't just DO that!...
That happened in 1981 so...
I mean when they started doing that on the DVD covers.
Okay, this is pretty cool.
Say, that's actually pretty good! If I may, I'd like to get copies of all three when they're finished.
Ah yes, my memory was a little hazy at the time.
I'd buy a version of Frames based on this restoration!
There's a thought - did literally no one else do posters for the prequels?
When I realised they wasted Brian Blessed's talent in TPM. ...that took a while though.

It does look more favourable. Although I do have to correct the luminance myself, but it's good!
I... have no clue how to get that working. How do I put that in a script? I'm terribly confused.
So, say I wanted to stretch a clip to twice its normal duration, and I wanted to create additional frames to make it fit with the surrounding footage. Obviously I'd have to do it by way of morphing as opposed to interlacing. I know it involves Avisynth maybe, but... I dunno, trying to work it out just confuses me massively. Does anyone know how it works, can they step me through it?
