Oh I see them now. Yeah, that's some pretty impressive stuff!

What am I looking at? All I see are tinypic signs.

Here's the new video sample for the color regrade v1.5 (available till the 12th of October 12), and I think it's a massive improvement over the previous version. There's great detail, and the colors look spot on:
I concur. It still maintains that Grindhousey undertone as well!
Since Thunderbirds has just had its 50th Anniversary, I thought I'd take the time to correct some shots from the HD version of "Terror in New York City" from the "This is Supermarionation" BD. Beautifully restored though they are, the new masters suffer from a sort of blue tint, such as you might see below.
Compare that to the previous DVD release:
A run through the Colour Correct program gives us this:
Another example from the intro.

Additional comparisons from the episode itself:
What can I say, except this warmer, grittier colour grading is just like I remember it.

Open the test image, then x out of the window that pops up. Open the reference image, and x out of the preview window again. Then building a model will become an option.
Huh, the instructions didn't mention that. But it works now, so thanks! I'll be back with some of my results.
What...?
I'm getting frustrated - I can't get this tool to operate properly! I've imported the test and reference images, but the "build colour correction model" button doesn't light up. I think I might be doing something wrong. Can you help?
Another DVD now, this one taking direct influence from the Star Trek Remastered covers.
The other two would follow in the same vein.

Bleh, I hate the new trend of all Lego games having dialog. The silent pantomime was charming, now they just rip dialog straight out of the film and it's boring. Not to mention weird when you have silly stuff going on and then SUPER SERIOUS DIALOG.
I see what you're saying but I'll stick to my words.
I'm tempted to play Lego Star Wars II again - but then again I'd end up shutting it off before I finished it, because all the slapstick and the lack of actual speech makes it idiotic and annoying. Not to mention the murky look it inherits from the DVDs! Lego Jurassic Park has slapstick too, but at least the speech balances it out. Tell me there's a mod that adds dialogue somewhere!
It's good! It has that sort of subtle Grindhousey feel to it.
Shawn's given me a thought: did no one think to release Star Wars on D-VHS?
Another little WIP.
I know that Angel's edit isn't terribly popular around here, but nevertheless I thought I'd try experimenting with possible cover execution. Just look at that teal/orange thing going on! ...I'm probably going to look like the biggest asswipe on OT, aren't I.
Not all of them will have this palette, obviously - I might be able to use different colours for the other movies.

You can go on and on. Paintings are not 3D it's like saying make the Mona Lisa in 3D on my TV. It's also not going to move it's motionless.
I dunno, I have a book of some of da Vinci's images in 3D. It's one of those cross-eye jobs which you look through a viewpiece to see, but it kind of works.
What's the difference between all these digital downloads?
The "One Last Time" campaign was a warning. We might've been able to prevent the damage to cinema they'd been planning! Someone should've, I dunno, seized the negatives and gave them straight to the National Film Registry.
But... if they didn't get their copy when it was first started up, and the Special Edition was what they were offered first, then it can only mean one thing: the Special Editions were an inside job! Could it be that George was telling the truth when he talked about his "original" vision???
I mean my God! Movies are not like cars! You can't just retire them in favour of remakes!
DisneyFilm?
They were beige!? I never would've been able to guess!
Nice colours. I'll be sure to pick them up at the earliest opportunity. It appears I may need a reseed though.
I've had a look at the latest preview clip and it looks great, just like the real thing! Not that I would know, of course... but the colours are already looking good, and most of the picture is clear if not sharp. Not sure what was with that white flash at 7:31 though...
Yeah. And Legacy is it! Too bad we won't ever get to see it!
I guess the Team Blu restoration comes fairly close to it. Either that or you could get a 35mm scan like what Negative-1 and Puggo Grande did.
No no, it's all one double-sided cover, featuring previously-released cover art. It's not a series.

You're right that I don't understand much of compositing and recompositing :D
What I meant is that if...
In special effects work, you shoot your individual elements (a TIE fighter is one element, a millenium falcon another, laser blasts another, star fields etc etc) on normal negative film.
...and...
For the SE, they took the individual elements and put them back together on a computer using more modern techniques (no matte lines, garbage mattes etc)
..., it means that most of the original negatives do exist. But if Disney want to use them for the restoration and...
The problem with Star Wars is that they used a highly unstable filmstock to do the original photochemical compositing and these shots are pretty much gone now.
..., they'll probably have to composite the elements again, but digitally, thus it may not look exactly the same, right?
Would it matter?
Ah? I... don't recall ever starting a "Faces" set to begin with.
