These look great!  Especially the art for The Wild Life which I always thought was a perfect design and execution for photo art elements.  All the colors really pop with the Blu case.  Both of these projects are going to be great as The Wild Life is an ultra rarity and Private School isn't broadcast in HD very often.  These are some of the best '80s teen/sex comedies of their era and a real time capsule for those of us who actually saw them in the theater and remember those fast times.  I cannot wait.  Great stuff as always from Team Blu!

Info: Which HD-DVD is better than Blu-Ray?
Time

The European BD for Streets of Fire looks good.  I don't know if they tampered with it, but I have the U.S. HD-DVD and by comparison the European presentation on BD actually looks better.  I see artifacts when Diane Lane first hits the stage to perform on the U.S. HD-DVD and they are not there on the European BD.  Now I think the HD-DVD looks great, but the Region 2 BD actually looks better.  I do not see evidence of DNR with either presentation, but I'm no expert.  I see the European release as an improvement on an already good HD-DVD presentation.  The audio is certainly better on the Region 2 BD.

Sheena 1984 *RELEASED*
Time

It's the same director as the '76 Kong, so that kind of cheese is good when it's complimented by genuine heartfelt resonance.  This is what's missing from today's cinema and that more than anything is why I really miss the '80s.  They just don't make 'em like that anymore.  I have to say that when watching Team Blu's presentation of Sheena, it's really difficult to decide which is better between the 5.1 track and the original laserdisc 2-Channel audio.  They are both robust, solid and engaging... and yes, seeing this film in high definition wide screen for the first time ever was truly stunning.  Excellent, excellent work in both areas.  I'm a real sucker for a good man vs. nature story and Sheena is truly one of the very best.  Tanya didn't exactly make the greatest films and she's not the greatest actress, but none of that matters when you see this movie.  It's got heart, it's got action and it's got a super hot leading lady... and it's got lots of critters.  What more could any man ask for?  Really, really happy you guys put this thing together as it just made me a very happy kid again.  Truly great work and everyone should get this whether you're a fan of the film or not... you will kick yourself if this fades away and you don't have a copy in your collection.

This one turned out great.  I was really impressed by how beautiful the entire presentation was from start to finish.  Incredible audio without question.  The video is so crystal clear and vibrant... simply glorious.  Many thanks to Dark Jedi for including this one on the Spleen and to all of Team Blu for their magnificent work.  It is jaw dropping, beyond measure.  Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.  Anyone who doesn't get this one is a damn fool.  Bravo!

Escape From New York [spoRv] *BD-25 RELEASED*
Time

Just incase anyone is interested in making a smaller version of just the movie with the English soundtracks and commentaries... I used BDRebuilder to make a "movie only" AVCHD DVD 9 (dual layer Verbatim) and I burned it last night.  It turned out great for a smaller scale version of the project.  I know it's not the same, but if you just want to watch the movie in English with a couple of soundtracks and both commentaries it works fine with full playback control.  No issues whatsoever and it actually looks great on a large display.  I'm sure you guys will get the BD-25 in order but for anyone who doesn't have a BD burner it's another viable option.

Wow, Andrea.  This turned out even better than expected.  I'm just looking at the video itself which is amazing.  The sound is obviously top notch.  I don't have a Blu-ray burner so I can't comment on BD-25 performance.  Bottom line, the film itself looks and sounds better than any version of the film I've experienced to date.  Been a long time since I had HDNet or the dvr of that broadcast.  Nice to have it back in a stunning presentation with the best audio available.  Couldn't have asked for more.  Bravo and well done.  Thanks again for taking such care with one of the greatest films ever made.

Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead BD-25 [moviemike85] (Released)
Time

Compared to the old master most cable stations used to broadcast, which was terrible, the 720p HDTV is stellar.  This movie was a great showcase for Applegate and I think it's an entertaining flick by any standard.  It's definitely a welcome addition to some great projects on the horizon.  Like Adventures in Babysitting, it always had that slight "John Hughes" quality about it... never a bad touch for a coming of age film.

Godzilla Raids Again - Japanese Version Restoration Project (Released)
Time

Based on the condition of the materials you're working with, I'd say this looks excellent, Space.  The transition seems smooth to me.  That clip looked worlds better than my previous viewings of the film on various formats.  I see lots of detail and texture not previously visible... can't imagine it looking better than this.  Great work on a classic flick.

Looking forward to both Private School and The Wild Life.  The Cinemax HD presentation of The Wild Life also has great video and audio but the file that was floating around Usenet seemed to be missing frames here and there.  Maybe it was just a problem on my side, but at any rate that film is a rare find and it would be incredible to have a the HDTV broadcast intact.  I noticed the new DVD has song replacement.

Godzilla Raids Again - Japanese Version Restoration Project (Released)
Time

Wow, Space... thanks for the link and all this information.  I can get the Classic Media set through sellers on Amazon for like $3.00 so it's worth it to me.  Good to know what the limitations are with each presentation out there.  Compared to my old VHS tape home made recordings it's a no brainer!  I love these flicks anyway.  I really prefer the badassery of '60s Godzilla and I want him to look like the cookie monster and not like an MMA fighter the way he did in the '90s.  Give me the Showa era series any day.  I was digging around in my storage and found several old retail Video Treasures VHS retail releases I picked up ages ago.  Among them, Godzilla vs. Gigan, Godzilla vs. Megalon, Gidrah The Three Headed Monster and Godzilla Raids Again.  The quality sucks super bad on all of them.  These were manufactured around 1988 from what the company copyrights indicate.  They're pan and scan of course and you miss whole areas of action because of the cropping.  When I see these films in wide screen, it's like seeing them for the first time.  Great stuff!

DJ, the DVD has nothing in the way of extras... I don't even remember seeing much BTS promotional stuff or press kit material regarding the film from way back.  I was always recording stuff on a vcr back then when Entertainment Tonight would do set visits and interviews.  I distinctly remember seeing an amazing set visit to The Terminator during filming at Tech Noir... they even showed footage of the cameraman filming Arnold as he entered the club.  Amazing stuff.  But I never saw anything for Private School and I watched that damn show every day.  This one may have to be a basic presentation.  The HDTV broadcast looks great though so it's well worth it.  I'm amazed this one made the list because it's a personal fav of the teen sex comedies of the '80s.  They don't make flicks like that anymore.  Goofy but fun and the women were incredible.

Godzilla Raids Again - Japanese Version Restoration Project (Released)
Time

Great news, Space... this is going to be amazing.  Thanks for taking the time with this one.  It's a rare gem from the series.  BTW, what do you think of Classic Media's release of Mothra vs. Godzilla (a.k.a. Godzilla vs. The Thing)?  I understand both versions are included and the Japanese cut looks pretty good and is in the original aspect ratio.  If you happen to have seen it, let us know what you think.  Thanks again for all the hard work.  Looking forward to Godzilla Raids Again!
