Private School 1983 *RELEASED*
Time

Wow, this project turned out great!  The movie looks and sounds awesome and the additional bonus of Private Lessons is a really cool touch.  Forgot how good that flick was.  Sylvia Kristel is of course in both movies.  Anyway, Team Blu continues the quality work... you'll need a password for this one by the way... and I'm really looking forward to The Wild Life as these '80s teen comedies are pure gold and super hard to find in HD.  You'll never see anything quite like them again.  Beautiful, beautiful work you guys.  Bravo!

The Matrix [spoRv] *BD-25 RELEASED*

Hi, Andrea.  If you are still interested in little fixes for a potential 2.0 version I just wanted to bring one little anomaly to your attention, but you may already have it covered...

Just noticed it as I hadn't seen this project until very recently... overall it's great stuff!  Far better looking than the green mess on the official BD.  Thank you for taking the time with another classic.

The Terminator (1984) - Original Theatrical Mono Preservation (Released)
Time

Right now the only one on the spleen is the 8gb version that Monroville posted which is of course your project, kk650.  And it's greatly appreciated.  I've tried to get it to play without the single glitch, which is not a huge deal, but haven't had luck yet.  If anyone has a clean version of any size and wants to be a hero, I'm sure everyone would thank you for including it over there.  I just made a slight edit around the glitch and it turned out great... didn't really impact the narrative as it's just a brief exchange with Sarah and Traxler.  It's still the best looking and sounding overall presentation that's important and this one is pretty great.  Thanks to kk650 once again!

kk650's version on the spleen is quite good.  Excellent sound and beautifully restored video.  Just a note, there's a slight glitch at the 50+ minute mark when Sarah's at the police station speaking with Lt. Traxler.  It freezes there and you have to work around it.  Just FYI, and without question it's a damn good presentation.  The 2.1 HD audio is remarkable.

That's more like it... very nice color indeed.  This is going to be the one I look forward to this year.  Thanks, Andrea.  Always loved this film and it will be great to see those vibrant hues and desert vistas once again in a proper presentation.  That ColourMatch frame actually looks gorgeous and since the source is the MM2 uncut international BD version, it's the best of all worlds.  The U.S. DVD was the slightly edited version of course.  Should be a great project and the fans will be very pleased.  Great stuff!

This is a great project.  Thanks to everybody for contributing.  I love this stuff!  Andrea, keep up the great work and I still want a Television Version of Halloween next year... the THX HD with the TV scenes from the BD bonus features and if you don't do it we're f***ed.  Thank You!!  If not, The Road Warrior... or Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan... red not blue.

Escape From New York [spoRv] *BD-25 RELEASED*

I think that the 2003 DVD Special Edition introduced changes to the soundtrack which were carried through to the Blu-ray.  You have to get the LD PCM to hear the original version... HDNet Movies ended up broadcasting the original mix.  That's cool, but what I found strange was that HDNet broadcast it in 5.1 because I had only ever heard the original mix in 2-channel.

The differences are as follows:

1.  Snake says, "That's real good" after Cabbie says "He's A Number One..."

2.  During the assault on the station wagon as Snake drives down Broadway, there is now music played all the way through the attack.  Before it was silent except for the barrage of the crowd.

3.  Brain's line to the President is an alternate take in the new mix... "God Damn Redskins!  They're savages Mr. President!"  You can clearly hear the difference between each mix.

There could be more but I think that's the major stuff.

Interesting point regarding the soundtracks... the original laserdisc track features the "Broadway Assault" without music underneath but the BD audio adds music all the way through this sequence.  The HDNet soundtrack has the original audio mix.  Never noticed that before.  The BD has an added line when Snake first meets Cabbie during their conversation in his cab (Snake-"That's real good").  This line is not present on the laserdisc or the HDNet broadcast.  HDNet didn't use the Special Edition 2003 audio which is the same as the new BD mix.  Interesting that the HDNet mix is 5.1 but still the original sound design... the laserdisc is original but 2-channel, naturally.  Where did HDNet get a 5.1 mix of the original audio?  Wouldn't it have been 2-channel?  That just kind of threw me because I'm wondering how HDNet ended up with a mulit-channel mix featuring the original version (no added music cues, no added dialogue, no alternate "Damn Redskins! They're savages, Mr. President.")  Anyway, BD Rebuilder worked like a charm for me.

Space Hunter M made one a while back with the international dub... it's very good

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/DESTROY-ALL-MONSTERS-1968-Anamorphic-International-Version/topic/16213/

It's on the Spleen.  PM Space Hunter M for information regarding the AIP dub (Titan dub).  He was kind enough to help us with that.  Big Thanks to Space Hunter M and his excellent preservations.

I just want to say that many of us who have donated in the past may not be in a position to do it again right at this moment, but fully intend to contribute again in the future.  Team Blu has always gone the extra mile and even when donations are plentiful, it's a sacrifice beyond measure.  Times are tough for a lot of people right now.  Hopefully things will change.  Many thanks to Team Blu for all the work they have done to keep films alive.  Here's to better days my friends.

Upscaling Robocop Criterion (Released)

Holy #$%*!  Congratulations to Jonno and Zeropc for the fantastic addition of the Criterion laserdisc audio track which I now declare astounding!  It booms and bristles beyond all backward reckoning and makes me a true believer in the future salvation of 2-channel PCM endangered species, as they must now be saved by a magical ragtag group of selective misfits I call my own.  If that makes sense to anybody then you're a member of the club.  So bottom line, it's AWESOME and don't miss it.  By the by, the 6-channel track that comes with the BD ain't half bad either.

Oh, man.  I didn't notice that at first.  Private Lessons and another little gem called My Tutor are the absolute best "Mrs. Robinson" themed sexcapade teenage dream flicks of the '80s.  Can't forget Jacqueline Bisset in Class either.  She gave 'em all a run for their money.  Awesome stuff, DJ.  Looking forward to the current slate of releases as you guys never disappoint.  Thanks again to the entire team.

Godzilla Raids Again - Japanese Version Restoration Project (Released)
Time

Agreed.  If you're a Showa era Godzilla fan, don't miss any of these releases.  All of the people involved are putting quality projects up and if you haven't seen these films in widescreen you're in for a pleasant surprise.  Thanks to all of the hard working fans and preservationists making this possible.  So far we have great restorations of Godzilla Raids Again, Destroy All Monsters, King Kong vs. Godzilla and now Godzilla vs. The Thing.  A bunch of retail Blu-ray releases of this genre of films have been announced for 2014, including King Kong Escapes so it's going to be an exciting time for fans of '60s Monster Movies.  Thanks to everyone involved!
