Escape From New York [spoRv] *BD-25 RELEASED*
Time

Everything looks great, Andrea... just want to bring to your attention the second commentary is with Joe Alves actually, you have 'John'.  No big deal, I just thought you might change that one before everyone prints their covers.  So glad you're using the HDTV as that is far and away the best presentation.  Great news!  Maybe your cat doesn't like the movie... so he sabotaged the project.

Andrea, just go with the HDTV version from HDNet.  That added slice from the BD framing was a risky method as you suspected initially.  Not worth the trouble.  Most people hold the HDNet broadcast in high regard.  I do prefer it because it has the correct brightness and the color is awesome.  Just go with that and save yourself a big headache.  Looking forward to it as with all your projects.  Happy Holidays!

'The Wild Life' - has anyone done a preservation; HD? (Released)
Time

zeropc did re-up the original file some time ago to usenet under a new header, but there were frames missing when the file was created so the new upload was exactly the same.  Very watchable... just not perfect, but that's not zeropc's fault.  As far as I can tell that's the way the original file started out.  There are certain areas with some frame stutter but the soundtrack is intact.

Godzilla Raids Again - Japanese Version Restoration Project (Released)
Time

The most mysterious and elusive of all the early Godzilla movies... especially because of the title which confused us as kids.  "It's Godzilla, right? So why do they call him Gigantis?"  Rights issues go back as long as I can remember.  Some things never change.  Anyway, this is a great addition to the lexicon because it's the only other black and white Godzilla film and actually features the first battle between the big green guy and another major player - Angilas (Anguirus).  This is the very definition of old school Godzilla and the action is really pretty great to boot.  Good show, Space.  Really looking forward to this as I've not seen it in about 20 years.  Thanks for the great effort all around on these classic creature features!

DESTROY ALL MONSTERS (1968) - Anamorphic International Version (Released)
Time

Love me some '60s Godzilla... been looking for Destroy All Monsters in a proper presentation for some time now.  Thanks for delivering the goods, Space.  I thought the restoration of King Kong VS. Godzilla also on the spleen was excellent and since I grew up on these classics, it's always great to experience the best versions of them.  I have old VHS recordings from back in the day of basically every film from '54-'75 featuring the big green guy, but one by one I'm trying to get the strongest widescreen transfers of each movie.  This is easily one of the best from the Showa series era... looking forward to it.  Thanks for the great effort to present it at its very best!

Halloween [spoRv] *BD-25 RELEASED*
Time

I recently watched Terror in the Aisles which has a bunch of footage from The Thing with its original color-timing.  Andrea's version looks exactly like the clips from that documentary.  Very bleak indeed.  There's a lot of footage from Halloween in Terror in the Aisles as well.  Pretty much looks like the 35th BD.  Despite that, I can't wait to see this THX in high def.  Thanks, Andrea!

'The Wild Life' - has anyone done a preservation; HD? (Released)
Time
Just a note to anyone interested in the recent Universal Vault Series DVD release of this film through Amazon... there's a bunch of song replacement as many might have guessed.  Songs that have been pulled out of the movie include Billy Idol's 'Do Not Stand in the Shadows' and Prince's 'Dirty Mind'.  Also, Madonna's 'Burning Up' and Little Richard's 'Girl Can't Help It' are gone during the strip club sequence.  Some instrumental music cues have also been replaced for whatever reason.  It's a shame, but the HDTV broadcast is still on Usenet and has the original soundtrack intact.
