Well…I wouldn’t say it “worked” for Palpy or Fett. They were both far better off dead. Maul shouldn’t have worked, considering his insane injury, but they managed to give him more development and story. Maul shouldn’t have been killed in TPM anyway and George realized that like 7 years later hah.

But I’m very much against them killing characters then making it a “fake out” and they just keep showing up. Ahsoka had a good send off…they had to bring her back for more content and now it’s boring and pointless for her to be around during ROTJ. Just too much retcon after retcon.

When characters die it ups the stakes for everyone else…we know this. So when nobody has any real consequences from their actions it’s just mindless fluff entertainment.

Yeah that’s absolutely Filoni. Ignoring his own rules and plot points. She just magically shows back up and fans will wonder what happened to the story of her getting back. Filoni won’t have the answer and will spend years coming up with a contrived short idea. Remember when she just showed up next to Luke in BoBF with no explanation or interesting conversations? She just HAD to be there. Or just leave it a “mystery” forever. Does anyone really care that she’s tossed into another galaxy? Do we need her back?

I’m one of those that think she should have stayed slain in her duel with Vader…that would have been a great arc for her and Anakins characters. Oh well, Filoni will stick to guns and keep throwing the same 3 characters at us that should not have survived in the first place.

I know there is desire for some fans, to set up and show everything that lead up to the opening of Star Wars. It’s not necessary showing everything and dotting every single thing. The early rebellion is quite well done as is.

You’re in luck! There is definitely not going to be a season 3 of Andor…unless you count Rogue One.

I’ve never understood this complaint about the prequels. Now, I think the art direction for the PT is definitely off in many regards; there should’ve been a more retro-futuristic/fantasy aesthetic than what was presented. But being set before the dark times, things should look new and shiny.

“Lived in universe” doesn’t mean everything has gone to hell. It just means the clothes don’t look like they were constantly brand new, the vehicles have never seen light of day before and the buildings look like they were just finished all in one minute.

And that’s how you can describe the PT aesthetics. Just laziness. Even the Jedi’s boots looked like they only just started wearing them. Boring lack of detail.

30 bucks says Ahsoka shows up. 😆

It’s a trailer for people who haven’t seen Season 1, who aren’t Star Wars fans, to try to get them interested.

The Franchise is 46 years old and includes 12 films, 16 television shows, 110 video games, 380 novels, and nearly 1000 comic books (maybe more, I’m not too sure about my arithmetic). This far in, there’s something for everyone regardless of story preference, age, format, etc. No one thing can save it or sink it at this point. It doesn’t even need saving. It’s a product now, like potato chips. Sometimes they release a Lobster Roll (vile) and sometimes it’s a Salt & Pepper (delicious).

As has long been my thought on the matter - watch what you like, ignore the rest. I can’t fathom why some fans still do battle with a franchise.

Oh, and one awesome 6-hour radio version of the original story. 😉

I wasn’t referring to it’s deep past…the last 4 Disney + SW shows have sank and sank in interest and viewership. Some people are still feeling the damage from the last 4 years and are hoping for something great to change. I’m not waiting on it, but there is alot of discussion online about it. Even I didn’t think I would have to watch soo much bad Star Wars the last 7 years but here we are…and you’ve gotta watch to find out if it’s good for you or not. 🤷‍♂️

Rather than worry or even think about viewing figures, why don’t you just watch it for yourself (or don’t). Rather than be concerned with what the wider world is or isn’t enjoying, experience it for yourself, and if you enjoy it, good for you, if you don’t then that’s fine too.

Having said that…haha…my friend has Disney plus and I’m going to watch the two episodes tonight.

I’m interested to see the numbers of viewers for this series…I imagine the interest is extremely low. At my job there are about 4 casual SW fans and they either haven’t heard of this…didn’t know it was out…didn’t know what it was about…or just weren’t interested. Well, establishing what “it is” and the audience actually experiencing and feeling it…are two different things. And I wouldn’t say Episode 3 does the job well considering Anakin and Obiwan separate on their own missions for a majority of the film. Obi-Wan isn’t even present during the whole “turn” and major plays that went down on Coruscant. Obi-Wan basically fights him just because he’s on an assigned Jedi mission from Yoda to take out the “other half” of the Sith duo situation. I think it’s a stretch to say ROTS stands on its own. And these movies KNOW they are parts of a trilogy. Return of the Jedi doesn’t really stand on its own.

C’mon back Andor! I need a breathe of fresh air since all the mediocrity that came after the first season.

Lest we forget, the movies absolutely didn’t BOTHER to tell us how the hell that lightsaber was found and brought back into the plot 30 years later. Remember that awful idea they had for the opening of TFA where after the crawl you’d think you were seeing a giant spaceship, but it turns into a force perspective gag where it would reveal its Luke’s lightsaber from ESB…floating through space for 30 years with Luke’s severed hand still on it. Then it hits Jakkus atmosphere and the hand disintegrates but the lightsaber falls to the ground. And someone immediately picks it up. Just so dumb and awkward.

Who would have thought soo many of these directors would be so completely out of touch with making further stories and films?? Abrams talked about loving SW OT for years before there was a sequel trilogy and his work on Star Trek showed that he’d rather be making SW films. How could he have started Episode 7 like that? Now when directors get on an IP and mention being “huge fans” it makes me worry.

That would absolutely have been better than the B1 droids. Still…it’s why I like the Umbara arc, it showed the Seperatists doing their own fighting against Republic armies and gave it more stakes. When every other Separatist planet just uses battle droids it makes the whole conflict just feel like The Terminator. Defeat the machines!

I liked the Umbara arc…it showed the gritty combat of the war with General Skywalker in the thick of it. Plus the human Umbarans with their “fighting gas” pumping through their helmets was WAY more captivating to see in battle than the idiotic battle droids. Battle droids in general kinda ruin the idea of the Clone Wars to me…especially with how stupid they are. It’s just ridiculous to think the SW galaxy was being threatened by spindly robots who were programmed to think and talk like the 3 stooges. When George decides he needs humor he NEVER knows where or how to put it in. 🙄

Speaking of that, I feel like I’ve heard enough Temuera Morrison impression style dialogue to last a life time. I think that’s why I had trouble watching The Bad Batch…I’m just really over “the clones” and going through soo many ins and outs with them as a fan. I’ve got a couple of friends who grew up with the prequel era and they loved clones individually with a passion. You ever met a Star Wars fan who’s all time favorite SW character was Commander Cody?? I have…and even he said The Bad Batch was nauseating with the all-out “New Zealand variant” Clone stuff.

But yeah, just getting to know soo many clones and the Jedi emphasizing that they be individuals made it hard to just accept order 66. The whole “chip” thing is the only story device that works…but that still doesn’t make it good at all. I mean, that chip could have been used WAY earlier on and with alot more effect than just shooting Jedi Generals. And why would you bother with dimwit volunteer Stormtroopers after having your own fully bred robot reacting army? The Bad Batch didn’t sell me on why they were replaced…or why Clones aren’t seen all over the galaxy after those events. You’d think you’d see one of those guys every week on any planet. Oh well.

And there was the whole problem of Lucas writing in the dialogue “The Sith have been extinct for a millennium.” I don’t think anyone was guessing it had been 1,000 freaking years of no conflict with dark side users…it’s really a stretch to portray it like that already. If Ki-Adi had said “The Sith have been extinct for over 100 years” it just would have been more interesting and a better way to set events for the EU.

I think the old Tales of the Jedi comics did the thing we’re talking about. It felt like older tech and clothing…a.more interesting visual style than Jedi robes and Tie Fighter looking ships from the KOTOR style era.
