I swear I'll open my own main artery if I must ever view this again!

I think the title pretty much tells you right off the bat how this movie's going to be.

But I was hoping it was going to be bad in that good way. It was not. It was bad in the bad way.

they need to put a straight jacket on Alex Jones and lock him up in a padded cell.

No thanks. I'd rather have my freedom of speech, and the security of being able to say and believe what I want without fear of being put in a straight jacket and thrown in a padded cell just because someone disagrees with me, or thinks the things I say are crazy.

Love it, or hate it, Alex Jones is a great example of what makes America kind of awesome. America misses more than she hits, she needs all the awesome she can get her hands on.

^ I agree with CP3S.  If something is not to your liking or it displeases you, you have the freedom not to click on links, turn the channel, or just walk away.  No one is placing a gun to our head and forcing us to participate.

I don't like what Alex Jones is feeding to the weak minded, but he has every right to do it (within the law).  Our constitution here in the USA is fantastic, and I am not looking for a police state to protect me from people such as Alex Jones.  On that very same note, did you guys see that that the HR.624 CISPA Bill has passed the house?  The United States has taken another step to becoming more like Red China. A sad day for freedom, and much more frighting then Alex Jones.

As for conspiracy theory nuts, they are not trying to spread lies.  They are extremely skeptical of information from mainstream sources, while extremely gullible to information from other sources.  They believe they are pursuing truth, though their methods are very flawed.  They are the opposite extreme of most of the American public, who in general are too trusting of official information without being willing to examine other sources.  I'm not a fan either, and I probably err on the side of trusting my government, but it is wise to question.

I saw a video yesterday that condemns the way Alex Jones misleads people, and this video's presenter does it quite well.

You Can't Make This Up. Oh Wait, YOU CAN!

I've always enjoyed Trek, but my interest in it waxes and wanes: it's always something I like, just not always something I think about.  But I definitely have recently had a resurgence of interest.  Phase II in particular is extremely interesting to me.  I'll have to check out all these books you're recommending, as they sound so very interesting.  Also I'm curious about Planet of the Titans, but I know very little about that or where to research further Beyond Memory Alpha.

Trek: The Lost Years, and The Phase II book both have outlines and background information on "Planet of the Titans".  It's most defiantly focused on in these books. But at the moment I forget what book has what information about it. There is the reprinted original story treatment as far as I can remember. I'm in Hawai'i at the moment, but as soon as I return home I can let you know more information about what each book contains on that subject.

I want to get this book some time.

http://www.amazon.com/Star-Trek-Phase-II-Series/dp/0671568396/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1366348291&sr=8-1&keywords=star+trek+phase+ii

I have that book, it's excellent!   They provide scrips and outlines for the planed episodes. Another excellent book that is a great companion to that one is...

That looks really cool.  Just even posting my post and reading yours makes me want to go out an buy it.  I know a store where it is held here in my little town.  However, I'm sure the Amazon price is cheaper, so I just have to be patient if I choose to order it instead of going for instant pleasure by purchasing it at the store.

If the Phase II is of as great interest to you as it is to me, then let me also recommend this book called "Trek: The Lost Years" (not to be confused with JM Dillard's novel "Star Trek The Lost Years") as another source of great information about the aborted second series.

I've been a hard core Star Trek for years, and in my youth I had built up quit a collection of books involving the show.  I was much more into the background and production then in the expanded universe novels.

What are the police supposed to do, arrest the suspects with harsh language?

LOL.  My point was more directed at people who feel that using violence to send a political message is going to make their world a joyful and unified one.

I understand the need for police and armies that only use force to combat aggressive force.  I just can't wrap my mind around what these bombers are trying to accomplish. It's just not my way.  I love to crack jokes, and be sarcastic, and be a bit of a trouble maker to ruffle feathers. But when you talk about destruction, you can count me out! Now where have I heard that before?

My apartment mate and I have been working our way through TOS for the last few weeks.  We made the episode selection a game of sorts. My friend will give me a stereotypical and common Star Trek related situation, theme of Character element. I then pick an episode that fits his request.  Some of things he has suggested and the episode I have picked are as follows...

Shuttle Craft related = Metamorphosis

Mutiny = Turnabout Intruder

Spock uses a Vulcan Power to save the day = Is There no Truth in Beauty

Gee, what smooth floors your cave has = What Little Girls Are Made Of

That sort of thing. It's been an entertaining way to pick what episode to watch. I've personally done the chronological and production order more then a few times, and this has been a nice change from that.
That's awesome! Some friends of mine who've never seen TOS are watching random episodes based on how ridiculous the Netflix summary sounds.

It's great how you can mix up TOS episodes from any season and they still flow together nicely as a continuing adventure.  The other series in the Star Trek cannon don't work that well when you mix them up across seasons.  Continuity and references to passed plot lines and character actions became much more focused in the latter shows. Not to mention the numerous cast changes. Not many TOS episodes refer to situations from other episodes. A few exceptions I can think of are the mention of The Corbomite Maneuver, and The Organian Peace Treaty. Also in the episode "Turnabout Intruder", Kirk (in Janet Lester's body) reminds Spock of situations that happened in a few other third season episodes. One being the events in "The Tholan Web". I cant seem to remember the others.

"Django Unchained"

A good movie, but the violence left me very unsettled.  The evil that is portrayed is very real to life, and the same dynamic is still in operation in today's world. Nothing has changed at all.  I'm not too happy with the cinematography of this film. It looked as if it was shot digital and with green screen, and it pulled me out of the drama. The music was entertaining, but also broke the forth wall. But, I did like it.
