Info: FanFiltration Update {I'm not dead YET} - new projects...
Time

Hello Forum People,

Well things are looking up here at FanFiltration’s brand new Motion Picture Editing Facility in the sub-tropics. The power has been installed, the walls painted, and the brand new H.P. media computer is about to be installed. What this means is that all the announced projects I have not yet released will soon see the light of day…

Thunderball {Preservation}, Fanfiltration of the Planet of the Apes, and Red Curtains: Twin Peaks Retold

And New for 2007…

More to come.

"Banning of OCPMovie"
Time
Is this a law enforcement forum, or is it about fan editing films?

I think the point has been made by this forums admins on the subject, and that the reason for the banning is now well known by all who visit here on a regular basis. If people want to break the rules, then ban them for a time, and let everyone know the reason. The whole perma ban thing does not lend it's self to being constructive in a comunity such as this. Let's learn how to grow and work this type of thing out. As admins, you took on the role of building up a comunity, not becoming the overlords of copyright policy.

Now let's be big men, and learn to forgive. This issue has become very petty and ego based.

Let Pete Rose into the Baseball Hall of Fame! They even pardoned Nixon for God sakes...

"RETURN TO CASINO ROYALE"
http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/thumb/6/63/180px-DavidNiven.jpg

This is the pitch Boys & Girls....

Now we take the 1954 T.V. Version and somehow inter cut it with the 1967 Version...

There is the part in the 67 spoof where Orson Wells is looking through a periscope, and it could be made is if he is viewing the 1954 black and white stuff. The editor could cross fade some of the 1967 footage into black and white to better cross fade into the 54 footage. The only good parts of the 54 version are the card game, and the interrogation of bond for the bank check. The story would have to be reworked for the 67 version and a lot of stuff just cut out. It would have to be a creative story that can blend the two together. And I don’t see why Barry music could not be placed it as well. There is also some vintage tv show footage and behind the scenes clips that could be also intercut into this. There is a very kewl mid 60’s tv documentary on the background of James bond’s early life. Put that in as the films start, and then blend into the Old sir James.. oh it could work!

Also, You could use footage of sellers from his other 1960's films where he could pass as the same look... Blackstone Audio Books had a great version of the book, and a professional sounding voice narration could be placed at gaps in story to kind of montage between scenes if need be.

I wish I could do this!!!!

I believe the poster above is right on target about "the copyright issue" as it relates to "Fan Edits". I just could not imagine any studio spending hundreds of thousand of dollars in lawyer and court fees to prosecute "Fans" who may make a few dozen "Fan Edits" from parts of there property. That would be Looney. On the other hand, I can see them going after the big marked knock off manufactures, who sell thousands of units that are no more then low quality transfers of an actual complete film title, and being sold as official {including studio logos}. There is much more damage being done to the copyright holder in this latter chase, where the standards of the product quality may negatively represent the studios other DVD products to some unaware consumers. I don't know anyone here who tries to distribute DVDs {or artwork} that claim to be "Original" and "Official" DVD versions of titles. In fact, most editors around here go out of the way to boast the changes and alterations made in there fan edit work, and recommend you own an original version so that you can compare their edit work to the standard official versions....

Info: James Bond - Laserdisc Preservations: 1962-1971
Time
Sorry I've been away...

The lack of a "Rare" commentary track for this film, led me to construct {as close as possible} a music only track for the Thunderball preservation. It as close as I can get to the music as it is presented in the film. This music edit was the most complicated re-edit of a soundtrack I've ever attempted. Seems that the Producers went and extracted bits of the recorded Barry Score to make some cues out of parts of many different cues that Barry recorded. This led me to have to try and duplicate the edits in the score by using the Soundtrack CDs. What a job this has been. I have been having a problem identifying some of the music used in the underwater segment at the films end. I have an isolated score that is at this point about 97% matched up to the film.

BTW, I saw the new film this past week.. WOW! It's true! BOND IS BACK...

That would be fantastic.
Thank you,

Hi!

Thank you for your intrest in my Beatles project.

Fanfiltration's "A Hard Day's Night" preservation will contain at least 3 Film Soundtracks {Including the original Mono!!!}.
The film will be shown "Full Frame" {As it was on the MPI DVD & Criterion Laserdisc}, and without the matting that has been done to the curent offical DVD. There will be 3 versions of the Original "baby Buggy" trailer, A "Restored" making of short from 1964 {with original sound improved}, "You Can't Do That" out-take, Lots of "very rare" Beatles recordings that are tied in with the film. Rare Beatles promo films with songs from the film. 1964 News Reels of the film's premiers. Beatles BBC Recordings related to the Film. The long out-of-print U.A. Motion Picture Soundtrack {including George Martin's Instrumental Tracks} in Mono & Stereo. Beatles Studio Out-Takes, from the recording sessions for the film's songs. "The Running Jumping & Standing Still Film" by Richard Lester, Short on Richard Lester. and much much more.. In Spring 2007

Hey,

The new film "ROCKY BALBOA" is ariving soon, and so far reviews and word of mouth is that this ROCKY is going to be a KNOCK OUT.

I was thinking about how kewl it would be if someone here was able to edit Rocky 2, 3, 4, and 5 into one big movie that would bridge the original Rocky and this new film.

Info, & Help: looking for... Supergirl - Oh yes... Supergirl is the topic...
Time
Supergirl is a much better film in it's longer cut. Jeannot Szwarc tried to do something a bit diffrent then Lester with this, and had a change of tone for his film.

Supergirl is alot beter then Superman 3 or 4, and it gets a bum rap because at the time of it's release, fans truly wanted a return to the style and feel of Superman One, but we got more of a preview of "Santa Claus: The Movie" with blond hair and nice tits.

I have the Anchor Bay double DVD set, and it would be nice to just trim a few very very small parts out of the longer version.

The Jimi / Lucy sex chat stuff at the end comes to mind...

How I Would Edit SUPERMAN {Part 1} (workprint completed)
Time
I think the problem in past Superman Edits & Projects was that the extended T.V. footage has never surfaced in an enjoyable visual condition. All dubs I have seen of the T.V. broadcast of Movie One and Two are in bad shape {and Pan / Scan). There was some talk on this forum about releasing a cleaner dub in better condition of the {International Version} Of Superman: The Movie, but it's yet to see the light of day. I've mad a personal DVD Composite of the Home video Laser, mixed with all of the known extended bits taken from various sources that I enhanced with digital filters, and improved the sound. I never put it out because there was talk of that other Superman release Coming out on this forum. Sorry to see that not get done or released. At the time I did not want to step on anyones toes.

The only thing I dislike about my edit is the condition of the Richard Donner cameo with Clark at the T.V. shop bit. I did not have a good clean dub of this extended part.

I made some menus that are far too basic for my taste too. If anyone would like to work with me on getting this out ASAP, please let me know. I have the Basic mpv and ac3 audio files done.
We just need to fix up some nice looking menus. This would be a nice companion to the SUPERMAN 2: RESTORED INTERNATIONAL CUT
that was released by a fan a few years ago. Now that was a great fan project, and one of the main reasons that the Donner Cut was even made {The other was that they had all the Brando footage}.

BTW: The guy who made that "RESTORED INTERNATIONAL CUT" fan edit got some heat from The WB..

Ideas: James Bond re-edit suggestions...
Time

The American {SpyGuise} VHS video release of CR runs for an extra one minute more than the other versions {including the one c/w the 1967 version DVD} . It shows Le Chiffre (Peter Lorre) actually being shot twice. MGM, now owns the rights to this production, just as it purchased the rights to the spoof Casino Royale (1967).

You can still find the tape over at Amazon...

I had a plan to use this version as a DVD extra on my "Thunderball: International CUT" project. But that was all lost with my blasted hard drive crash a few months back...

Info Wanted: zappa's '200 motels' - anyone done a DVD preservation?
Time

I have the "200 Motels" LD and VHS. I have placed the movie on a CDR along with the long out of print Zappa made "True Story of 200 Motels" video documentry.
The problem with this film is the BAD SOUND. It's a sad example of how this movie was made on such a low budget, and how no care was taken by the Producers {NOT ZAPPA} to save anything of value from this production. All the master Video Tapes of the shot footage had been erased and the used tape stock sold for extra production cash.

The films soundtrack was not recorded in the same way that other Zappa albums had been, so there is a noticable lower quility to the sound of the recordings. Much of the mucic was recoorded on the film's soundstage, and not in a normal music recording studio.

I also have Uncle Meat, Video From Hell, The Amazing Mr. Bickford, and the never released "Burnt Weenie Sandwich" short Film. I have lots of other Zappa video, but what I am looking for is the The A&E Biography: Frank Zappa

Well, I'm not that sure about the street date {As I don't distribute my own work}, but some fans that do distribute should have it in about 2 months at most. We still have a good friend working on some animated extras that will be lots of fun, and will make this set extra exciting.

How I Would Edit SUPERMAN {Part 1} (workprint completed)
Time

OK, this is a work cut… We at FanFiltration still
have not placed the reflection of the villiains into the eyes of the krypton Guards helmet, and in another shot of the guard we will need
to make the background behind his helmet black and add the
reflections of the 3 villiains.

I will post some more of my major changes. In a few…

Went to see the new Cut of Superman II in L.A. last Saturday on the big screen {Digital Too}, and got to talk a bit with Michael Thau…

I like {some of} his work. But as other fans have said, we need a “HEAVIER” mix of Lester and Donner footage to make a “best version” of the epic…
