Battlestar Galactica Telemovie Edits (Released)
Time

Battlestar Galactica Telemovies

Back in the 1980’s, MCA’s T.V. distribution took episodes of Battlestar Galatica and made a number of feature length “Telemovies” by (In most cases) re-editing two episodes of the 1978/79 series into one story. These “Telemovies” had been sold around the world for broadcast as stand alone programing. A number of the newly created edits did contain footage that was not part of the original episode versions. But of all the “Telemovie” edits, only one had newly created footage inserted into it, and it’s also the only “Telemovie” to use an episode of the original series combined with an episode of Galactica 1980 (<span class=“Italics”>“The Return of Starbuck”</span>)!

The Telemovie Version of Experiment in Terra

The “Experiment in Terra” telemovie is the only Galactica telemovie based on a one-hour episode of the 1978/79 series, and also features newly created footage that was never part of an original broadcast episode or an out-take from that series. The Telemovie edit begins with some astronaut finding Commander Adama’s log book in space, and also a short pre-Carillon synopsis of the pilot episode, with narrations by actors Patrick Macnee and Lorne Greene (who is reciting from the found log book.) (The new prolog also contains an alternate version of the “There are Those Who Believe…” speach by Macnee. ) This segment is then followed by a scene taken from the pilot episode (The space mine field), and after the newly created prolog is completed, we then get about 15 min of a highly edited version of “The Return of Starbuck”. This paired down edit of an episode of the Galactica 1980 series has had all the scenes and references to the Angela character and her star child totally removed. The editor also (very poorly) attempted to make it appear as if Starbuck took the part-Cylon part-Galactican escape craft back to the Battlestar Galactica. To round off this telemovie, the short “Return of Starbuck” sequence is followed by an an expanded version of the episode “Experiment in Terra” from the original Battlestar series. All of the out-take scenes used by the editor to extend the “Experiment in Terra” segment of this telemovie are included on the DVD box set in the bonus section for the “Experiment in Terra” episode

Here now for your viewing pleasure is the very rare “Log Book Galactica” prologue (in two parts) taken from an old VHS tape from my personal collection.

This very rare footage is not included on the official original series DVD box set.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who has contacted me about supplying assistance with this set!

It's very exciting to be constructing this set for everyone to enjoy. Star Trek The Motion Picture did have it's problems, but it remains a true Space Epic production that is stunning to behold.

I like this idea a lot! In fact, for some time now I've been thinking of including a Fan Editor commentary track on all my future fan edit releases.

This "Thunderball" project has been nothing but problems from the start. The color timing is being adjusted at this stage...

I can't stress enough how important it is for me to release the best possible preservations.

Jamiemark, that 8mm film would be an EXCELLENT addition to the Extras section!

Please send me a Private Message or turn your Private Message option on so we can work something out.

Guys, I would LOVE and NEED to get a hold of that HD2DVD version.

There are a few shots I am forced to take from the LaserDisc because they are not included anyplace on the Director's Edition DVD.

I am sure that a HD2DVD transfer looks much better.

If anyone can help me out with this project, your assistance shall not go unrewarded!

Just an update.

The friend who had done most of the Fremen "blue within blue eye" work on my FanFiltration DUNE edit is now working on the color correction for this Thunderball preservation. Lets hope his efforts will enhance this project. He understands that this is a preservation and I know that he will do his best to respect the original intent of the film makers vision.

This film needs respect!

You should still be able to find the original single disk DVD version of Star Trek II, that is the original theatrical version as far as iI know.
I also thought that there was only one version of III , and it's on all the DVD releases. But, I could be wrong..

I have a plan (and that's all it is at this stage) to do a re-cut and merging of Trek II - IV and remove Robin Curtis as Lt. Savik (She is just some Vulcan in my edit idea and is also not seen much), and also want to place James Horner music under the scenes from IV. but that's all for another time...

Widescreen "STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE (Special Longer Version)" Preservation by FanFiltration

This is a fan made preservation of the long out-of-print 1983 Special Longer Version in WIDESCREEN for the first time EVER! This preservation uses the original 1983 stereo audio mix.

This version does not contain the newly created visual, or audio sound effect changes that were done for the Director's Cut DVD set.

Size: 7.71 GB
Resolution: Widescreen Anamorphic, 1.85:1
Audio:
Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo (AC-3)
Encoder: CCE SP
Avg. Bitrate: 6,000 kbps (4 Pass)
Feature Runtime: 2h26m06s

Fan-Edit Info:

Edit and Preservation by FanFiltration

Most of the footage for this version is imported from the Director's Cut DVD set (but this is a major re-ordering and edit of that footage). Much of the footage that was missing from that set has been imported from a letterbox High Definition broadcast version. The original audio track was taken from the long out-of-print laser of the 1983 Special Longer Version.

Video / Audio Sources:

A) Widescreen High-Definition T.V. Broadcast of the 1979 Theatrical Version.

B) Director's Cut DVD {Including bonus out-takes and trims}

C) Laserdisc of 1983 Special Longer Version {Audio Only}

Programs Used: Adobe Premiere / Adobe After Effects / Adobe Encore / DVD Decypter

/ VobEdit / VirtualDub / AudioGrabber / Cool Edit Pro

Computer: HP Media Center PC m7760n

EXTRAS: Rare audio interviews with cast members and the producer, and Production Stills,

This fan made preservation attempts to reconstruct the extended Network TV and pan-and-scan home video versions of the film made in 1983. But, for the first time is presented in a letterbox format.

Here is a list of the footage that was added to the theatrical version to create the 1983 "Special Longer Version".

* Decker asks Sulu to take Ilia "in hand". He then gives her a brief explanation of the computer. Ilia reminds Sulu of her celibacy oath, and Decker tells Ilia "the captain didn't mean anything personally", and Ilia says she'd never take advantage of a sexually immature species.
* After the wormhole, and after Decker, Bones, and Kirk depart for quarters, there is another short Sulu/Ilia exchange about current speed and current heading. Ilia then confirms it. Both these scenes were apparently shot to provide a sense of romance between the two, but were cut to clear up Decker's same relation.
* Rather than Kirk saying, "Make your point, Doctor" when discussing the obsession with the Enterprise, there is one brief exchange, and McCoy gives his line in a medium shot, rather than a shot of the two standing side-by-side.
* During the attack on the Enterprise, the ship actually gets hit by an extra energy torpedo. We hear it, and the lighting also suggests it, but we never see it. Some minor scene extensions are added. There is also an alternate take of Spock's analysis.
* There is a short scene in which Spock reveals the frequency of V'Ger's transmission. This appears in the Director's Edition.
* Decker takes over Chekov after his hand is burned, and a female crew member takes over for him. Decker goes to help Spock, and we return to the theatrical footage of the second (or third) energy torpedo being fired.
* Chekov returns to his post after a humorous exchange from Bones, and Spock reveals that V'Ger emits more radiation than the Sun.
* The famous footage of Kirk shadowing Spock during the space walk sequence is included.
* There is an alternate take when Nurse Chapel gives the Ilia-probe Ilia's headband.
* The Ilia-probe mentions the creator is "on the third planet". She then removes the headbands, and asks why two carbon units have entered V'Ger. Bones replies that they wish to contact it. Decker asks if V'Ger has a problem with that, and Ilia says no. V'Ger will find out their purpose. Bones says it is to survive, and Ilia says it's V'Ger's purpose as well to survive. Decker implies that V'Ger's purpose was to find and join with the creator, and Ilia replies that is how V'Ger will survive.
* Bones says V'Ger says its creator is a machine, to which Decker replies "We all create God in our own image".

This preservation is meant as a backup to deteriorating VHS and LaserDisk editions of this film. This project is NOT FOR SALE, nor meant for re-distribution of any kind. All rights reserved by the original copyright holder.

Info Wanted: The Exorcist III (Deleted Scene?)
Time

From the IMDB:

Some European prints are rumored to include a scene depicting the violent killing of a priest, removed from the US version after unsuccessful sneak previews. A shot from this scene, showing the beheaded priest sitting on a bench and holding his own head in his lap, can be seen in the French publicity stills."

Can anyone confirm this scene?

Click Here to see a “RARE” Trailer

In the trailer, you can see footage of Jason Miller & Brad Dourif in some type of morphing effect. This was part of the re-shoot done by Morgan Creek against the directors wishes. Blatty had to fight to have some of the re-shoot removed from the final film, stating that it was not in keeping with the original films theme. Blatty managed to keep it out of his film, but as stated in a comment on You Tube,
“It didn’t stop the suits from sticking it into the misleading trailer.” This trailer was not included on the DVD or as part of the DVD box set of all the films. Sad…

Idea: for a Rocky VI edit
Time
I understand what you are doing and would love to see your edit when done. But with all due respect Rocky Balboa was one of the 2 best films I saw last year. The other being Casino Royal. And with each film I was expecting the worst. I am so glad they went with the ending they did. I posted a few months back how Rocky 2 - 5 could be made into one huge fight film, and use the original and this new film as bookends. Rocky III, IV and V could be cut down to about 30 min each without losing any Story (grin).

If you are going to do this Rocky VI edit, can I make a request. During the final fight, when rocky is in his daze, could you place Adrian's voice in the background saying "get Up!" from one of the other films, and Micky saying his "Get Up because Micky LOVES Ya" line from Rocky V?

I think the final fight would have had much more impact for me if they would have had Adrian talking to Rocky in his mind during the fight repeating to Rocky what he had said to their son about "Keep Moving Forward".

Well good luck with this project and like Rocky said "Keep Moving Forward"!

Godzilla Vs. The Smog Monster (Custom DVD Preservation) (Released)
Time

Please be aware of the forum rules. This is a “custom DVD”, so you know how that goes if you want to see it…

I LOVE this MOVIE, but when it came out on DVD as Godzilla vs. Hedorah (the International Title), it had an all together alternate English Dub from the one used on the version shown on American T.V. for years and years. Most of the lines are the same, but the voice acting is not as funny as the version that was shown on U.S. T.V., and the new DVD does not include the English version of the title song (“Save the Earth”). Toho Pictures calls the DVD version the International English Dub.

I’ve now restored the original American Pictures International (A.P.I.) soundtrack keeping the letterbox video from the 2004 DVD. I’ve also placed the A.P.I. logo and “Godzilla Vs. The Smog Monster” Title card back into the film using an old VHS tape as source. Godzilla is a childhood hero, and I felt that this film has to be preserved the way we in America grew up with it.

Go Go Godzilla…

You can send me PM if you want to talk Godzilla.

preservation of the original 1961 version of “MOTHRA” COMING SOON!
(B.T.W. “MOTHRA” has never been on DVD!!!)

No, it's all the same film. It was the extra picture information on the right and bottom I must have spoken about in my original posting. And also I was including a reconstruction of a scene with footage from the trailer. The audio track is what has the major changes. I have about 97% of the isolated score matched up with the film. I was also going to include the most complete 1950's T.V. version of C.R. as an extra.

Batman Forever - Dark Knight Edition (Released)
Time
Hey,

This edit sounds like something we ALL need to see!

I found a great page that has info about the existing Batman Forever deleted scenes and how the film was (and was not) assembled.

CLICKY

The report has nothing to do with this new B.F. fan edit, or info on how to get it. it's just great info.

There is a B.F. 2 DVD set that has a section of deleted footage, but I am not sure if it's the source of all the deleted and extended scenes used in this "Dark Knight" edit. I would love to know where all that footage can be found.

Ideas: 'Firefly - Season Two' (the Serenity film edited into a Firefly S2?)
Time
F.Y.I.

I know this does not have anything to do with your edit, but...

"A new 2-disc Special Edition DVD of Serenity has been announced for Region 1 release on August 21, 2007. According to Whedon, the River Tam Sessions will be included, along with a new cast commentary, although the latter has yet to be finalised. The reason for this release, says Joss, is the excellent sales figures for the "Normal Edition" DVD.[35]"
