The guy is standing in the hallway which is inbetween the flightdeck and the hull. That is why you see Kirk and Scotty entering a little passage, and why you do not see windows from the inside out.
That area of the ship is not referenced on the blueprints or the cutaway art as far as I can tell.

Live and Let Die is most definitely one of my favorites. Not sure if I like it more than The Man with the Golden Gun thought. From Russia with Love is also very good.
I have a fondness for "Live and Let Die" and "...Golden Gun" as well, but they are Guy Hamilton's spoofs of what Terence Young had tried to establish. Even his "Goldfinger" does it. They are fun movies, but I chose the Young version of Bond over Hamilton's any day. And, Lewis Gilbert was a tool! Just listen to his commentary tracks. The only director who has been able to carry Young's torch was Peter Hunt. Sorry John Glen, you will always be a better 2nd unit man.

I honestly can't see the problem people have with Quantum.
Both Craig films are pretty much as good and bad as each other and both are better than average Bond films.
An edit of the two into one better film?
I Like most of the first half of CR, but after the game it becomes kind of dull for me. There is some good to QoS, but the casting gets in the way of it being a fully enjoyable romp. I like Craig, and accept he is not James Bond circa 1962, M is ok, and that's about it. I did not like the gags in QoS, or the production design. The David Arnold music is becoming redundant and forgettable.
The supporting cast did a great job in CR during the heart attack scene, and that did not follow to QoS. They chose to not ask the actor back who played M's assistant. The humor was bland in QoS. I blame the Director, and the producers who hired him most of all.
I can live with the fact that Bond may now be laid to rest for a good number of years. I would like to see them truly do the books, set in the time of the books if the series is to re-boot again.

EON Productions (Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli) released a statement saying, "Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on Bond 23 indefinitely. We do not know when development will resume and do not have a date for the release of Bond 23."
Craig adds, "I have every confidence in Barbara and Michael's decision and look forward to production resuming as quickly as possible."
The economy is even hitting 007 hard. They should start thinking about a plot that revolves around the economy for the nest film, if it's ever made.

I rather like the ending but if you want a more ballsy action packed coda why not have V'ger send a signal to the machine planet (basically telling them Carbon Unit+Machine = World of cool) and cut to a Borg Cube being built in orbit.
You know, that would be kind of neat.
Edit: My friend just told me that is how Star Wars Episode III ended.

O.k., we need some ideas on how to better end this turd. The way this film ends is so obscure. I think that the writers had a very difficult time trying to come up with a way to communicate what was happening to Decker and the Ilia Prob at the end. Any ideas how to better end this film? I'm starting to lose enthusiasm knowing that no matter how hard we try, this sucker is going to end badly.

I'm glad there wasn't a DVD I missed out on then!
The LDDB says the theatrical cut was out on LD in 1981. I'm pretty sure I saw VHS and Beta copies around before the SLV replaced it after '83. Paramount kept the catalog numbers the same.
The story circulating at the time the Letterbox LD's came out was that Robert Wise preferred the theatrical version. It was also rumored that the footage added to the 1983 ABC broadcast, (which became the SLV on video) had been tossed, making a widescreen version impossible.
Imagine the surprise when all those extra scenes popped up on disc 2 of the DE in widescreen!
And I hope you have seen my personal restoration of the SLV version, now in letterbox format for the first time ever.

Beats me. Did they save TMP for last when they brought out the single-disc sets and made it the DE?
In other news, it looks like the windows near the docking port are too close to the port:
Maybe we should see them in the straight on shot further away, but by these frames we probably shouldn't. It's not a huge thing, just something I noticed.
And what happened to the guy in the window? I take it that the person in the window is standing on the gang plank just inside the door, so why is he not there when Kirk and Scott walk onto the Enterprise? Where did he vanish to? It's not the young officer that greets Kirk. We clearly see him arrive in the turbo lift.

I did not know that the theatrical version of STTMP had come out on DVD before. I know it was on LD and VHS, but I thought this Blu-ray was the first time it was on a small disk. I had to use a HD broadcast copy of the theatrical for my SLV edit. Now I'm confused.

I always liked TMP because it did focus so much on the detailed production design. I was into the look of the new Enterprise, and when it came out, it was so great on the big screen. But the story always was a major drag. Star Trek II truly rekindled my childhood love for the franchise, and I was so glad they improved the sets and some of the uniforms from the first film, rather then re-do it all again. We can thank the lack of of a budget for that more then anything. I was 13 when TMP came out, and 16 when TWoK came out. I was in the core demographic age group for the first golden age of popcorn blockbusters from 1975 - 1985. Some of the first movies I remember seeing on the big screen are The Sting, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, King Kong (with the Big Bus), The Little Prince, Towering Inferno, Poseidon Adventure, Young Frankenstein, Jaws...

Another great one has passed on. This guy was a class act, and of the old school. He never had a flamboyant or scandalize Hollywood image. Sadly we may never know actors his kind again. Mr. John Forsythe, dead at age 92.

Hey guys, sorry for being out of the loop.
It took a week to get my new laptop tuned up. I'll be starting to edit again this weekend. I'm going to need some advice for the Ilia intro scene. I've got some real tricky moments that I need some feedback on. All that garbage about her oath of celibacy has got to go, but it's just not as simple as cutting a few lines out. I've spent way too much time tweaking this scene, and may have lost all the correct story telling perspective on how it should play out. It's hard for me to just type out what I am trying to do with it, so script and visual examples are on the way for you to look at.

Fantastic! We just need a couple people fluent in Klingon to record some dialog for us!
I have two right here at my house now...
Two people fluent in Klingon? That's freaking sweet.
Well we are not "fluent", but we have had the dictionary and the audio computer program to learn how to speak Klingon for years now. We would love to give it a shot. He and I used to do voice acting for programing on our college radio station back in the dark ages.

Some great stuff you guys are working on.
Yesterday I got myself a new Asus G27 notebook computer, so that I can work on this project when I am at my friends place. This should improve things quite a bit for me. Much better processor, and 1 GB of dedicated video memory. Lot better then my desktop.
I am set to get the external Blu-ray drive next month, so I can work on importing as much as possible from the TMP Blu-ray.
