Just got home from "Tron Legacy".

Not bad, not great. My first IMAX feature film, and first 3-D film I've been to since "Jaws 3-D" back in 1983.  Felt it could have been a bit shorter for what it was. Felt a bit too much like a clone of the (new) Batman, and also last two Matrix films. But a fun ride for the ticket price. The first Tron was a bit more original. This was just a rehash of the games, and some re-cycled dogma from other popular films of the type. Nothing new here, but nothing stomach turning ether.  The attached trailer for the upcoming "Mars Needs Moms" film, now that was stomach turning.

I'm Calling it Quits! (Time to Retire)
Time

Just wanted to retire from my armature fan editing carrier at this time. I'm sure the Bond laserdisc preservation will get done (as I want them for myself too). I will also still answer my personal mail about such things and keep up here on the forums. I'm not totally quitting that type of stuff. I'm just not going to be doing it as any kind of major release, or anything like that. I've seen some of my past work being used in unsavory ways, and I don't want to be involved in that anymore. Keeping my hobbies personal and between friends seems the best policy.

Also, I've recently been accepted and will be attending the film study program at San Francisco State next fall. With this exciting development, a lot of my time right now is being devoted to my preparation for returning to academic studies after nearly 20 years destroying my brain cells.  Like lot's of people who become depressed due to a disability changing their life, I have been doing a fantastic job of making excuses not to follow my (very old) dreams. Well I've had it with feeling sorry for myself. I've got the time, people say I have some talent with editing video and film, so why the heck not?

Did you know that Christopher Nolan wants to direct a Bond film? I have heard him express this wish in an interview.  The Dark Knight and Inception both had very "Bond" like action scenes, and I would love to see Nolan direct a 007 flick.  The assault on the mountain fortress in Inception seems like a blatant nod to OHMSS and other Bond films.

"Inception"

and

"Bronson"

First "Inception"

Not bad, but did not think it was as good as I was expecting.

Just thought it would be a bit more original, and not go so much into the cheesy type cliches.  The acting was good, but I did not feel that all the characters had been fully developed. I did enjoy Tom Hardy a lot, and just can't believe he is the same guy from "Star Trek: Nemesis". His performance was so good, that I also watched his film "Bronson" latter that night.

"Bronson" was top rate. Good writing, acting, and direction.

Don't know if any of the photos are things not seen before elsewhere, but still cool to see!

Dave,

I'm so sorry to hear about this horrible ordeal that you are forced to endure.  You are one of my favorite people on the forum, and I am truly concerned about your situation. You are in my thoughts brother!

If any type of potentially helpful or relevant information comes my way, I'll be sure to forward it to you.  I'm a disabled person (not working), and have been dealing with serious life threatening issues for a number of years now. I can completely sympathize with your struggle and anger at a system that does not work, care, or have any compassion for the sick.

But still, there are people out here who do care about you. Keep strong, and please try not to give up, or in to depression or worries. I'm in no way a religious person, but for some strange reason, the light of hope and inner peace tends to reveal itself at the darkest of times.

Do the Bond LD have anything unique to them in terms of prints, sound mixes and extras? If so, I might have to start getting them...

Most of the info you are looking for is someplace in this thread. a number of people have posted such info. As for me, I only know of the 1962-1971 films.

"The Criterion Collection" (two disk sets) and "The Connery Collection Vol.1"box set.

Have exclusive commentary and audio tracks.

"The Criterion Collection"

"Dr. No" = exclusive commentary and Music and sound effects only track.

"From Russia With Love" = exclusive commentary.

"Goldfinger" = exclusive commentary and Music and sound effects only track.

and on

"The Connery Collection Vol.1"

"From Russia With Love" = Music and sound effects only track.
