I'm having a bit of a ToHo marathon.

Godzilla Raids Again - 6/10

Rodan - 6/10

Battle in Outer Space - 2/10

Mothra - 7/10

King Kong vs. Godzilla 8/10

Mothra vs. Godzilla 7/10

Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster 7/10

I should have said that I watched the English versions this time through, and plan to re-watch them all again in their original Japanese versions.  Some of the voice overs in the early films are down right raciest.

I always thought vs Kong was one of the best of the sequels. When I was a kid it held a special place with my friends who watched the films with me. I would say it's as good as vs Gigan and vs Ghidorah, and I would consider those among the better films (Gigan uses lots of stock footage, but I consider that more like a 'best of' sort of episode).

I am not looking forward to the next few installments in the Godzilla series. G vs. The Sea Monster, and the films with Baby Godzilla are not on my favorites list. But I will still view them, as I have not seen them in years. Is Godzilla vs. Gigan the one where Godzilla talks?

Star Trek Into Darkness
Time

I want to know why it's called "Star Trek", yet most of the films take place around Earth.  Let's get out into deep space! You know, that place where no one has gone before. Generations & Insurrection seem to be the only two films in the franchise that do not include any Earth bound segments. And that is excluding the  Earth holodeck scene in Generations.

Info Wanted: Godzilla Series ~API English~ Any Preservations?
Time

Has anyone ever done a preservation of the english language version of the 1960s/70s Japaneses monster movies?  When it came time to release the TOHO monster films overseas, TOHO produced english dub versions themselves.  These english language dubs are commonly referred to as The International versions, and can be found on the current DVD’s available from retailers.  But these TOHO produced dubs are not the only english versions ever made.  Some of the films in the Godzilla series (but not all) had been acquired by American Pictures (AIP), and they made their own english dubs for films like “Destroy All Monsters”, “Godzilla Vs. The Sea Monster”, “Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster”.  These API duds are much better and more entertaining, and a lot of us older fans grew up hearing them.

Did anyone ever think to preserve these? Sadly, the API versions are becoming very hard to find as most never had a official release on home video.   Does anyone have any of the API dubversions, and would you make them available if they are needed for a preservation project?

Holee crap! An actual Dr. No score release???

Wait...isn't it the original "soundtrack" with 10-12 minutes added? After comparing tracklistings I think this may be the case, but how much of the score could that include I wonder?

I wish they had been able to do more on the 2003 remaster series, but EMI wouldn't give any more time or $$$. Plus on some titles they did some remixing which always threw me, not to mention that the project was only done at 24bit 44.1khz sampling rate. Some original vinyl sounds better. The second half of Thunderball that was unreleased for so many years actually sounds better in the Suite version found on disc 2 of the 1992 Best of Bond compilation.

Many are still incomplete: FRWL, GF, TMWTGG, TSWLM, MR, LTK and a few others IIRC.

Goldfinger finally added the four tracks from the original British score, but is still missing some bits. Spy as released was an alternate re-recording and the original score has never been issued. Even "Nobody Does it Better" is different as heard in the film versus the release! Moonraker's master tapes are still supposedly lost in France somewhere...do we have any French Bond fans who are also musicians working in studios...? ;)

Some bad news on this release.  It seems that they just used the effects/music track from the Criterion releases as there source for the un-issued cues.   Bummer!

Long a contentious issue about who actually scored the movie–Monty Norman won a celebrated court case in London–we will leave the listener to decide for him/herself.

With newly commissioned notes from renowned film music writer, Randall Larson, this is definitely not a title to be missed!
