Aliens vs Predator [sic]
Time

I think you pretty much covered it. Any way you can hide some of the lesser actors by cutting more dialogue. Like that one guy from AVP, who understood all of the symbols in the temple. I would rather he be silent, if not gone from the story. He is basically saying shit that is going to happen anyway. Maybe it would be more mysterious if he didn't tell us what was going on.

Of course it has been quite some time since I last saw the movie.

please tell me they are not thinking of making another Rocky?

"In 2009, Stallone gave an interview to the German news magazine Tele5 whereupon he mentioned that although it sounds foolish to some he feels he needs to make another Rocky movie, because "artists must again and again go through the dark." He also stated cryptically that the movie would likely be about getting older rather than boxing. At least one top executive at MGM has speculated they have plans to continue the Rocky franchise, based both on the overall gross of the movies (over 1 billion dollars) and the overwhelming positive commercial and critical reception that met Rocky Balboa, Later it became clear that the German magazine had picked up quotes from Stallone before he made Rocky Balboa."

Mel Gibson is nuts
Time

In all honesty, I think Mel Gibson needs rehab and therapy.

The man clearly has problems. I come from a long line of Manic Depressives. So, I think he might be Bipolar. His lifestyle and a disorder like that are not a good combination.

Alcohol is a bad thing for even the best of men.

Bipolar Disorder is a hard thing to live with.

Mix 'em together, and you got one unstable human being.

My dad was never an alcoholic, but he is bipolar. Without his medicine, he is terrifying.

Fantasia Hybrid Edition (* unfinished project *)

Anywho, back on topic.

I was watching the Fantasia Legacy DVD tonight and Roy explained how when they wanted to restore the roadshow version for the DVD, Deems Taylor's voice work was unusable.

They faced the choice of having a mix of Deems' and new voice work, or completely replacing the voice over.  They felt it was better to do the latter.

Which brings me to this preservation.  I haven't checked the run times or compared the laserdisc audio with the DVD, but the laserdisc wouldn't be the roadshow version (since that was restored for the DVD).

Aren't you faced with the same issues?  That is, the laserdisc has SOME Deems, but not enough to completely replace the DVD voice overs.

That's why I am cutting what is on the dvd to fit with the audio. I have watched the 90/91 version my whole life, so I can live without the intermission, and the Rite Of Spring mishap narrations.

From the ads, the movie looks weird to me.

It's weird because there's never been a movie quite like it before.  Which can be intimidating, but honestly, it's not that hard to follow.  Sure, it's a puzzle, but if you're paying attention, you won't be lost.  Part of the fun of the movie is trying to put the puzzle together as you watch it.

That's why I want to see it again so badly - the first time is all about the cerebral aspect of it, while (I felt) I missed out on a lot of the emotional aspect.  I want to see it again to get that, since I already have the puzzle put together in my mind - this time I get to see the puzzle, instead of the pieces.

Well, now I gotta go see it.

I just watched The Other Man starring Liam Neeson and Antonio Banderas. I would rate it -1000/5. It had potential to be a really good movie, but it just never picks up. It was supposed to be a thriller, but there were no thrills to be found. All I can say is, it was a major disappointment.

I think Rotten Tomatoes said it better than me:

Despite the best efforts of a talented cast, The Other Man is talky, witless, and tension-free.

Pretty much, the movie get's pumped up, and then right when there should be a climax, it just drops.

If I praised it on anything, it would be the cinematography. It had a wonderful cast, but that was pretty much it.

PREDATORS.

All in all it could have been better but it pushes all the right buttons so I'm quite satisfied.

It only took 23 years to get a sequel that doesn't suck :). - And don't try to tell me that Predator 2 was a better or equal movie to Predator because it just isn't so.

I agree. I rolled my eyes a couple of times, but it really brought it back to it's essence.

Robert Rodriguez really paid attention to the first film. I am also glad that this movie wasn't jam packed with CGI, and when it used CGI, it was only from a distance. The Cinematography was very Old School for a film this new. All in all, it raped Avatar.

I really liked the casting in this one. At first I thought Topher Grace and Adrien Brody would be too "Wimpy" for it.

I liked this one so much, I want to buy it when it comes out. I didn't feel odd watching it, like I did it's other sequels.

I also think this movie opened up some great doors for future Rodriguez Predator films.

THIS MOVIE IS THE SECOND PREDATOR.
