STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

I just give up. ANH, (SD/HD)

I find more & more errors that Ady accidentally overlooked. And, because of certain aspects from Rouge One. SWRevisited isn’t going to be the same as I remember it.

I guess I’ll either go back to 4K77, or give up on watching the Star Wars Franchise Movies, as a whole…

So, the Death Star Plans are not going to be the same as was shown in AOTC? The original plans look consistent to the concept Death Star. The AOTC’s Death Star Plans were more accurate to what we saw…

I just hope there aren’t too many changes to coincide with Rouge One… If that happens, to me this would just be 90% Rouge One, and 10& ANH. IMO…

Here’s my problem with some of the Rouge One aspects. The pink engine glow from the X-Wings is from the “Special Edition,” and the Y-Wings have a regular red engine glow.

According to 4K77, the engine glow on the X-Wings were red, while the Y-Wings were orange. Some things about Rouge One to me, that was taken from the 2004/2011 “Special Edition / Blu-Ray.”

There is no need for that thread, I’ve given up.

Though I do have a thought… Before, I thought “STAR WARS: Revisited” was a improved “Special Edition.”
But, now I think that, ANH:R (HD) is a fusion. Combining the improving of SFX, Sound Quality, and overall appeal, with the idea of trying to restore the some aspects that would remind us of the Original 1977 Theatrical Version, like 4K77.

Is my statement correct? (Note: I will not start any other projects, I do not want to cause more misunderstandings, problems, or troubles)

So you literally stole Adywan’s thread? OK. I’ll unsubscribe. And I don’t think I was hostile. If so, I’m sorry. I was just firm. You don’t have to be so defensive.

I never intended to steal Ady’s thread. There was no updates from him because, he paused Revisited until a better time. I didn’t want to be hostile and defensive as-well, someone else had said the same thing earlier when, I was posting updates of an attempted up-scale. I apologize.

Though, there is something that worries me, about ANH:R (HD)…

I keep re-watching ANH:R (SD) and, somehow I feel like some aspects about ANH:R (SD) will not remain intact. Like, ANH:R (HD) will not be what I remember of it, or how I would like to feel about it. I grew up watching this fan-edit, loving every feeling it gave me. It was like a fusion of A New Hope, with some aspects inspired from Revenge of the Sith. I feel as if ANH:R (HD) will not become this anymore… More like, it would become more like A New Hope mixed in entirely with Rouge One, with other aspects I would not particularly like. I just wished somethings were kept in the same way like the battleship-grey being seen in any Imperial Starship, or the Death Star itself.

What do you think about my thoughts? Does it seem reasonable?

I tried to upscale the Extended Alderaan Destruction Sequence, it looked impressive. In fact, I’ve noticed just before the clip where Jar Jar Binks can be seen, the surface of Alderaan is a mirrored Europe; and the Death Star can be seen in the sky while Senator Organa and Jar Jar, is about to die.

Though, I probably almost caught my PC on fire. It was hot. It’s not worth it. After seeing that, I think I’ll stick with the original, then I’ll look at ANH:R (HD) when it’s finished, as-well as ROTJ:R.

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

Harmy said:

Hi, guys, I know I haven’t updated you in quite a while and it’s because I haven’t really been working on Despecialized.

One reason was that I have been waiting for the new 4K Blu-Rays to come out and now they have and together with the 4K77 project, they should be a great source for a version 3.0 - they do seem to offer have more detail than the 2011 BDs, even though the DNR is pretty awful, but I will definitely try to add grain to them - ideally real scanned 35mm grain, which I might even be able to extract from Star Wars scans to keep it super-authentic.

Right now there are several problems with using the new UHD masters though.

 1. The UHD Blu-Rays haven’t come out in Europe yet, as far as I know.
 2. They are really expensive, so I’ll have to think twice before purchasing them when they do.
 3. Even if I buy them, I don’t even have a UHD player, let alone UHD BD drive, so I haven’t got the ability to rip them or even view them.
 4. Even if I could rip them or get them in some other way, I have no idea how to properly work with HDR streams.

So, if someone could help me with the proper HDR workflow, it would be appreciated. I don’t even really want to make the final result 4K HDR - I’d like the result to be a regular BD, as I feel like this way the sources will match better and there shouldn’t be a significant loss in quality anyway but would like to source the HDR BDs to use the better dynamic range for color-grading.

But maybe, in the end, it would be best to just use the regular BD versions of the new transfers, which would eliminate all the above problems and I could work as I am used to.

The main reason work on Despecialized has slowed down significantly in recent years is that I have a full-time job in the visual effects industry and, frankly also more of a social life, so I have far less time to work on Despecialized and, to be honest, also less drive, because after coming home from work, where I stare at a monitor all day and work on VFX, I seldom feel like doing the same thing at home.

Another reason is that the 4K77 version is wonderful and for my own viewing pleasure it is quite sufficient and I actually really enjoy it for its retro-charm.

But it is still more of a preservation of what the experience of watching a slightly beat-up print in drive-in theater would have been rather than what a proper modern transfer of a milestone film should look like and that’s what Despecialized v3.0 should supplement, when it gets finished.

In my country, the COVID-19 crisis, at least so far, hasn’t reached a point where it would prevent me from going to work, so I’m still working, albeit, since there’s no new productions being made, the post production side of things is winding down as well. But after the current big work-project is finished, which should be at the end of may, I’d like to take some time off and finally get going on Despecialized again. I’m not sure, though, if, given the current economic climate, I’ll be able to afford to do that.

You can do it!!! Sure, it might take a while but, it will be worth it.

Hey, I have a question.

I’ve rewatched ANH:R (SD) in it’s PAL Format, during the Battle of Yavin. After finishing watching, I’m not quite sure whether to stick with the PAL Format or, go back to the NTSC Format.

( Considering, I live in the United States )

Is there minor to major differences between them? If so, could you list them?
