Ugh. The changes are so ingrained now, the nature of the original version is like a vague urban legend now, with people just assuming it couldn't be THAT different.

My 11-year-old son recently went on an overnight trip on a charter bus with the Boy Scouts. They watched the Special Edition trilogy on the bus's video screens. My son starts telling people "These are the wrong versions. Jabba's not supposed to be in Episode 4." Nobody knew what he was talking about, not even the adult (supposedly a huge fan) that brought the movies.

On the other hand, I have raised my son well :)

Looks like we may be getting some flashbacks:

Perhaps we'll finally get an answer to the long debated question of which charred skeleton is Owen and which is Beru ;-)

Wooooow......cool looking designs.....

I like this one:

It doesn't look like something traditionally Tattooine, but does fit in though

If you go back to McQuarrie's concept art for Jabba's palace, it's filled with very similar things: http://bensbargains.net/thecheckout/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/jabbas-palace-gate.jpg

Besides "The films need to be the way I want them," has Lucas stated anything as to why the Blu-rays became the travesty that they are?

I was thinking that releasing the OOT on Blu-ray in May 2015 would be a great way to build up hype for the new movie. But I didn't want to get my hopes up.

To be honest, it would be the perfect act of goodwill on Disney's part. But probably more importantly, it's a genius marketing move.

I just got the call back. They claim that they have transferred what they say is a 1977 VHS to DVD format and are projecting that.

I'm at a complete loss for words. That's going to be The Worst Thing Ever.

Nothing like projecting a 240i image on a "5 story, 79ft. diameter tilted, domed screen"

looking forward to finding out what they showed.

STAR WARS: REBELS (animated tv series) - a general discussion thread
Time

I'm not overly impressed, but it's really early to jump to conclusions. The aesthetic of this show is very cool though.

Any show takes a while to find itself. The Clone Wars was pretty hokey in the beginning, but it got much better after a few years. The "Lost Missions" on Netflix will probably be excellent.
