Info: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. We have actor for Anakin, need new dialogue fast
Time

Along with your resurrection of SOTDS, this is awesome news!

It sounds like you'll be removing almost all of my pet peeves. Will you be removing the buzz droids? What about the different Battle Droid voices that don't match the other prequels?

I agree that the biggest weakness is Anakin's turn. It's just not convincing. There are too many reasons hinted at, and none of them is very strong. There needs to be a decisive moment when we know he's turned, and I don't think we get that. Only after he attacks the Jedi temple and kills the kids can we say, "yeah, he's not faking."

George Lucas leaves Lucasfilm
Time

I think it goes without saying (or at least I thought it did), that the more popular a movie is, the more uproar everyone will make when it is "disappeared".

Since ST:TMP has not fared well over time, I can see how the Director's Cut sort of got a big "meh".

Plus, it's not like the powers that be ever said the original ST:TMP would NEVER released and in fact had been PURPOSEFULLY DESTROYED.

George Lucas leaves Lucasfilm

I would like a commentary track where Lucas explains in detail why he changed certain things, what about Lukes' scream in the '97 SE that was lifted from the Emperor in Jedi, talk about creativity. ;)

I wonder if it would be possible to put together such a track from all of Lucas' various interviews. That would be great - all the boneheaded, out-of-touch, misplaced, and spiteful things he said over the years, synched up with the relevant parts of the movie.

Now that would be an excuse to watch the blu-rays!

Info Wanted: The Best OOT Preservation Discs...? Suggestions?
Time

I recommend you get both of these:

Harmy's Despecialized Edtitions v1 AVCHD: These are in 720p, using the AVCHD format (which uses a DL DVD but will play on blu-ray players). There may be the occasional SE remnant here or there, but you will probably not notice them. Multiple audio versions included.

Dark Jedi's v3 DVD: These are in the DVD format, as DJ is still working on the blu-ray versions. These are upscales of the GOUT, so there are no SE remnants whatsoever. Multiple audio versions included.

Both of these have their pros and cons. Personally, I'm partial to Harmy's version because it's HD, and I find the occasional jaggies in the JD's v3 a little too distracting.

So get a hold of both of them and see which one you like more!

Info: Alien Anthology - Dolby Digital 4.1 Surround
Time

That was great!

I was a bit thrown off during the first 10 minutes - I wasn't familiar with the British content. Were product commercials that common in the UK back then? I really don't remember anything like that over in the US.

My 2 minor quibbles:

 • The voiceover for the Star Trek trailer seemed to only be in the left channel. Is that right?
 • The Black Hole trailer was 4:3.

The War of the Stars Part II - The Future in Motion (Released)

TMBTM,

I just wanted to congratulate you on this awesome edit. It's filled with unique ideas and brilliant moments. And some parts are just plain hilarious.

I'll admit I'm not especially fond of some of the grindhouse aspects, like R2's subtitles, or Darth's seemingly out-of-character dialog. But the freshness of everything else far outweighed that.

And the making-of video was great. It's amazing how much work you put into some shots.

Thanks!

Interesting article about the history of Star Tours: Taking a Trip on Star Tours

This was my favorite part, where the writers for Star Tours 2 get Lucas' approval:

It was with some trepidation that the Imagineers showed the possible storylines to Lucas. “He was very nice,” Surrell remembered. “He said he liked what we proposed but he was disappointed that the adventure on Hoth didn’t include the Walkers. We explained that since according to the timeline that the rebels had not yet established a base on the planet that we couldn’t use them. “George looked at us and said, ‘Who cares?’ We were stunned," Surrell said.

Aalenfae's PREQUEL TRILOGY (Heavily delayed - computer exploded)
Time

This worked very well. All the cuts seemed well done, with the stupid stuff all gone. I liked how you managed to focus the attack on Greivous' ship, while beefing up the fighter attack at the same time.

One thing seemed a little off: Obi Wan's line "They're all over me", followed by a shot of 2 two fighters seemingly alone.

I'm not sure about using so much OT music though.

Sounds interesting and ambitious.

- cut Sebulba trying to strangle Jar-Jar. In fact, Sebulba is just another racer.

Is the whole scene cut? If so, I'm curious how you get Anakin together with Qui-Gon and company.

BTW, the latest trailer is great. It's hard to not get my hopes up. (No offense to you. Prequels, turd polishing, and all that.)

A new low in Star Wars games
Time

FYI, a demo is now available for the Star Wars Kinect game. You can play Rancor Rampage, Jedi Destiny, or Podracing. The Jedi Duel and Dance Off are locked.

I actually rented the game a few weeks ago. I just couldn't get into it that much, but my 9-year-old son really enjoyed the Jedi Destiny game. I felt like we might want to buy it, but I've cooled on the idea since then.

Meh.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

I'm sorry to see all the negative attitudes about PIF. Personally speaking, I got many great edits and preservations via PIF, and I always made sure to pass them on to others. The chain will eventually break down, but it always seemed to get the job at least 90% done as far as I could tell.

But maybe I'm naive.
