It's November 1st- Hangover Day.

I was going to say that I thought the cave looked a little too bright, but Ady has already addressed that now.

So instead I'll share with you guys a new XKCD that features something I think everyone on this board will enjoy. I'm a fan of ESB:r on facebook now and I recommend anyone who is interested in ESB:r to do likewise. Carry on!

One thing that annoys me a bit about when Vader enters Echo Base.   His helmet seems wierd... like extra short or something.  It's hard to explain.

Actually you have absolutely right. The helmet of vader, changes all the time. The one you pointed as short is the one that when he turns his head to the right direction, right?. Well that helmet supposed to be the first helmet to be in production and its from ANH as well. the mask and the helmet is glued together so there is no way to be separated. but after that they rethink the length of the helmet:)

Nice mockup there Bingo :)

Thanks for the link.  The shortness in that one shot is really annoying, though.  I don't know what bugs me about it, it just doesn't look right, I guess.  Adywan, you couldn't do anything to fix the helmet in that scene, could you?

Is that not the worst photo of Vader you've ever seen? The helmet is crooked and the chest plate is... completely wrong.

LOL. Yes it's the attack of the landing platforms.

Doesn't Ric actually have a line in TPM pointing one out to Annie?

"And look over there.  Senator Palpatine is waiting for us."

I hope you enjoyed this sample of my spoken word album, "The Shield Generator's Been Hit And Other Powerful Observations."

Who was writing that fan novel of Ric's exploits again? The amount I would be willing to pay in order to read such a book is rising steadily.

How about showing a cut scene of Yoda meditating and reacting to Lukes failure at Bespin?

It wouldn't break any pace.  That would add more emotion to Luke's failure.

I hate to pile another sandbag onto your idea Ghost, but that sounds like a change for the sake of change. What's more, how could watching Yoda look glum in a swamp add to the emotional upheaval that occurred at Cloud City?

C3P0: Blasted to pieces

Han Solo: Frozen in carbonite.

Luke: Brutally maimed by the villain now revealed to be his father.

To be honest, I don't think the audience cares about how Yoda feels about the above developments. Not while they are so fresh anyway.

I do agree TGI it is a bit odd of Luke, I don't know how I feel about taking it out. Just for clarification; are you suggesting Ady remove or replace it ?

The debate is this: Does Luke figure it out in ESB or when Yoda tells him in RotJ?

I don't think there is a question, Luke knows in his gut in ESB, hence the line: "Search your feelings you know it to be true!" followed by "NOOOOOOOOOO!!!". The discussion with Yoda in RotJ was there to remind casual fans of what had happened.

IMO anyway.

Wow those look awesome. Really, they are high quality.

One more thing about the ESB cover though. Look at the 'revisited' logo on the side, it gets over taken by the darker portion of the cover. Can anything be done about it? Perhaps by changing the amount of spacing between each word ever so slightly?

That is a cool cover. I love its retro feel. The only things that really bother me are the AT-ATs; which are all in-step with one another. That, and the back looks a bit... forlorn. Empty.

Maybe add a few stars or something?

Aside from that, it's really great! :)

Hey guys, remember that Tauntaun sleeping bag I posted way back on April 1st? No? Then here's a refresher:

Back then, the company said that they were going to try and get Lucasfilm to give them permission to actually sell them. Well, it has happened!

More info here: http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Tauntaun-sleeping-bag-in-production/topic/10874/

That is the greatest sleeping bag-related news I've ever heard! =D

For a long time I have been tempted to write an EU novel starring Ric. As a joke I would make every thing he says an observation. It would even be narrated by him. So the whole novel would be an observation of his observations.

Wow, a Ric Olie tale told in first person. Epic win.

"And then I pointed to Coruscant, which is the capitol planet of the Republic and also notable in that the whole thing is one big city, and I said to Anakin: Look, there's Coruscant. The entire planet is one big city."

Victory! You really should start working on that novel at once.

Be warned Adywan doesn't share your view about the prequels.

I think you'll be hard pressed to find anyone on this site (called 'originaltrilogy') who does share that view. Welcome to the forums anyway, Jedi93.

I don't know, I like Vader having some balls and directly confronting Palpatine over the issue rather than hiding it behind a statement that makes it sound only like slight doubt. He needs to appear completely sure of his conviction.

This is verging on the subject of change for the sake of change, IMO.

Right now we're just experimenting. Adywan hasn't committed to anything we've suggested.

That sounds great. I think some minor adjustments are all that's necessary.

Might you consider putting part of Bingowings' idea to use?

VADER: What is thy bidding, my master?

EMPEROR: There is a great disturbance in the Force.

VADER: I have felt it.

EMPEROR: We have a new enemy: Luke Skywalker... He could destroy us.

VADER: Is that possible*? He's just a boy, Obi-Wan can no longer help him.

EMPEROR: The Force is strong with him. The son of Skywalker must not become a Jedi.

VADER: If he could be turned, he would become a powerful ally.

EMPEROR: Yes, yes, he would be a great asset. Can it be done?

VADER: He will join us or die, my master.

*It may be worth hearing if that line makes a difference in the tone of the conversation.

If Vader seems skeptical that Luke could destroy both Sith, it begs the question, "Why was Vader hunting him at all? Personal feelings?(!)"

That would flow nicely into the Cloud City duel where Vader says, "Luke. You can destroy the Emperor. He has foreseen this. It is your destiny. Join me, and we can rule the galaxy as father and son."

How about this for a dialog change?

Vader: What is thy bidding my master?

Palp: It's a disaster, Skywalker we're after.

Vader: What if he could be turned to the darkside?

Palp: Yes! He'd be a powerful ally, another dark Jedi.

Vader: He will join us or die.

*awesomeness ensues*

I guess there are going to be strong feelings on both sides of this issue. My opinion is that it sounds belittling and dismissive.

The phrase “young Skywalker” works in ROTJ. When the Emperor says it in ROTJ, he doesn’t seem at all concerned about Luke. but rather expresses absolute confidence of prevailing over him, even going as far as to punctuate the point with a campy Evil Laugh.

The scene in TESB is supposed to present a different perspective on Luke. He is a “great disturbance,” he “could destroy us,” he is the “new enemy,” and even “the son of Skywalker” (mentioned not as a point of trivia, but to emphasize the potential power of this new enemy). To discount him as “young Skywalker” is completely at odds with what the Emperor is expressing with everything else he says in the scene. It also sounds strange when Vader says “He’s just a boy” right after the Emperor has expressed the identical sentiment, and then the Emperor rebuts the point.

I’m obviously not going to get any traction with the “son of Anakin” idea, but if there’s any possible way to restore the original 1980 dialog, with “Luke” instead of “young,” I think it would be a big improvement. I hope that somebody can figure something out, and that Ady will see fit to use it.

^I think this argument is sound, and I vote for it.

All these points make perfect sense, but I just don't see how "Luke" can be added back in with McDiarmid's voice and not sound like shit. <snip>

Someone with the correct audio editing software may be able to pull that off convincingly.

Well another reason GL changed up the Vader/Palps dialogue a bit and added "How is that possible?" was to ackknowledge the fact that the Emperor told him he'd killed Padme.

So it was a PT retcon continuity patch.

Right, but in the opening crawl it stated that Vader was 'relentlessly searching for Luke' or something to that effect, and when the probe droid image of Echo Base is looked at by Vader, he says "That's it, the rebels are there and I'm sure Skywalker is with them."

So when Vader talks with the Emperor, he already knew the the name of the person he was following. As if the name weren't enough, Vader says "Obi-Wan can no longer help [Luke]" in that same hologram scene in the asteroid field. So Vader already knew Luke had been getting help from Kenobi. Vader would have to be incredibly dense not to have resolved the clues by then.

-Force is strong with this rebel

-this rebel was associated with the Jedi Master Obi-Wan (Vader's old master!)

-And he share's Vader's last name of Skywalker

I think it was made fairly clear that he had already figured out Luke was his son. So in my mind, the prequels just fucked up, and the retconed hologram scene simply capitalized on the mistake. Similar to what happened with Leia remembering her mother on Endor, except no retcon was even attempted.

Call me optimistic but is it possible to trucate and distort Looking as in "I'm looking forward to completing your training" into Luke?

Ady did such wonders with creating the second "Yeesssss" that I'm possibly being fooled into believing he can do anything.

Hey, there's an idea, Bingowings. The long 'o' sound isn't too far from the long 'u' sound.

Does anyone here (besides Ady) have the appropriate audio editing software for a demo?
