Gratuitous sexuality in TV/movies should be balanced with an equal amount of gratuitous body horror, IMO.

I kinda like the Jedi Academy Trilogy; it's how I'd imagine those old pulp magazines to be - not particularily well-written, but entertaining nonetheless.
DOUBLE STANDARDS!!!
;)
I just finished reading the infamous Jedi Academy Trilogy by the infamous Kevin J. Anderson. Beyond the general inanities, I actually found the first two books readable. Sure, the characters are rather flat and the Sun Crusher is probably the stupidest non-PT/SE concept to come out of the SW universe, but they were pretty much a quick, easy read, and some parts were even engrossing; I actually enjoyed reading the Kessel sections in Jedi Search (the first book). The third and final book, Champions of the Force, though ... that was painful; it seems the stupidity and cringeworthiness was dialled up a thousandfold for this entry. I ended up having to force myself to finish reading this, and I don't usually have to do that, not with any book.
With that out of the way, I've started reading I, Jedi by Michael A. Stackpole. It's supposed to retell, in part anyway, the Jedi Academy Trilogy story from the viewpoint of another character unmentioned in the original three books. It'll be interesting to see how this book compares and contracts with Anderson's story.

its one thing to say characters cannot be one way or another - but the characters in the PT have no depth and are not remotely compelling (except maybe palpatine).
IMO Palpatine was compelling because he had to be in order to remain consistent with the original trilogy.
^This is how sanity dies ... with numerous catpaws.
I honestly wouldn't mind if Palpatine used lightsabers if
1. The lightsabers were stolen Jedi lightsabers (having him build and keep his own lightsaber pretty much renders his comments on lightsabers in ROTJ completely senseless)
2. Uses them sparingly
3. Uses them as a means to mock the Jedi and desecrate their weapon, not because he needs to
He could have been using hyperbole, couldn't he?

So why exactly would it be acceptable to assume that Yoda would condone and even train a Jedi to use a lightsaber, and yet somehow completely ridiculous that he might use one himself. That doesn't make any sense. So yes, it is just a matter of opinion.

2002 George Lucas interview:
Q: What religion are you?
A: I was raised Methodist. Now let's say I'm spiritual. It's Marin County. We're all Buddhists up here.
More evidence that Lucas underwent a major personality shift between the OT and the PT, which also explains the strong good versus evil undercurrent which for some reason he is so uncomfortable with in the PT.
Thanks for the info, but I've already found my tried-and-true method for television calibration.
The Dark Empire trilogy
I still like the art, and the characterization of Palpatine (at least in DEI, anyway), but the story is a little on the weak side, especially with the final two entries in the trilogy. In DEI, too much vital information on Luke's initiation into the dark side is glossed over, briefly mentioned in passing rather than being shown to the viewer, and DEII & III feel like rough drafts that could have been good sequels with a little more development and polishing, but as they are feel rather pointless and unnecessary.
Overall, I don't hate the Dark Empire trilogy like some SW fans do, but it could have been far better.

How does introducing a secondary set of villains prove that they should have been in the movies. That's like saying that having the Black Sun appear as villains in Shadows of the Empire proves that they should have been in Empire Strikes Back.
First, the idea of whether the Emperor should or should not have a light-saber is entirely a mater of opinion, not forgone fact (same thing with Yoda BTW). But even if that weren't up for debate, how exactly is the Emperor going to defend himself against two attackers simultaneously both of whom are wielding double bladed lightsabers with only one lightsaber. He needs two so he can block two simultaneous attacks.

I got the NES shortly before the SNES came out. My Dad got it used, it was cheep. I said I wanted a SNES never got one “ if you get a super Nintendo they will make a super Duper Nintendo the next year” that’s what my dad said.
I have one question and one suggestion.
I'll start with the suggestion. Personally, I kind of find the name "Jeni" - or at least the spelling of "Jeni" - for your protagonist kind of weak. Could you perhaps throw an "H" or another extra letter or two in there, to give it some oomph?
As for the question ... It's kinda silly, but it's one of those things I'm always obsessing over; what colour is Jeni's lightsaber supposed to be? Is it the standard blue/green, or something more exotic?
^Yet another Corman-Price film I have to see.
Wow, those really are shitty covers. Moonraker looks especially bad. Why can't the distributors just go with the original poster art for these things?
Weirdest necropost EVER.
None of those covers are showing up for me ...
