INT. DUQUESNE HOMESTEAD/NASHIRA'S BEDROOM -- SUNRISE

Entering the bedroom, Nik finds 'Shira. Seated on the chair to the left of her bed, dressed in pajamas, Siri stares into the mirror, brushing her pixie-styled strawberry blond hair as bright yellow sunlight falls upon the back of her head from the uncovered window; the joy upon her face is evident.

 Weird...Nashira and Siri share a room? :P

All those "S"s just start running together in my mind. *d'oh*

I just got around to reading your second episode. I'm liking it even better than the first one so far.

I only hope I can get around to progressing the story soon. Right now, though, I don't know what to do with the characters while they're on their leave.

It also makes it seem like Luke and the Rebels didn't actually accomplish anything. Who cares that they defeated the Sith if there is still an evil dictatorship running things?

As far as I'm concerned, the death of Palpatine spelled the beginning of the end of the Empire. Without central leadership, the Empire devolved into chaos and broke apart as every warlord with a thirst for power began fighting his brother for possession of Palpatine's throne, allowing the Rebels to move on in and gain enough ground to establish a New Republic.

I don't need everything wrapped up in a neat little package right away to feel as if something significant was accomplished.

So, what are you saying exactly? Your earlier post made it sound like you were cool with the Empire still existing 30 years after RotJ. When I said it would seem Luke had accomplished nothing I was referring to the idea of the Empire still being around 30 years later. I'm fine with the idea that it may have taken the Rebels a few years to completely dismantle the Empire, but Vader and the Emperor were obviously their biggest obstacles.

Basically, I'm trying to say it would be incredibly lame to me if these movies are going to be Rebel Alliance vs. Galactic Empire with no sense of accomplishment or progress since Jedi.

What I was trying to say is essentially that I don't mind if the Empire is still around as long as it's smaller, weaker, and less of a superpower than it was in the OT. If the ST Empire turns out to be essentially the same as the OT Empire, though, then I'll be having some problems with that.

We're talking about a series of films that are supposed to be modern fairy tales. It's pretty clear that the intention was that with the evil sorcerer dead peace would return to the kingdom, and that's with or without the SEs.

I grew tired of viewing the OT as a "modern fairy tale" with all the simplistic, namby-pampy bullshit that description entails a long time ago, so I couldn't care less.

It also makes it seem like Luke and the Rebels didn't actually accomplish anything. Who cares that they defeated the Sith if there is still an evil dictatorship running things?

Conventions
Time

I attended a convention of white witches once. Using an enchanted spear wrought from the armour of Yeshua, we were able to thwart a Satanist cult's plans to open a portal into the Outer Darkness which would have allowed the long-exiled Ancient Ones to return to our plain of existence and end all life in the observable universe as we know it.

Oh, wait, it that was my counterpart on Earth-20890 who did that, not me exactly. My bad.

Ugh. That really bums me out.

The Empire still around after getting soundly trounced thirty years ago.

Much like the Tatooine material I've seen, there's going to have to be a REALLY good explanation for this when the film comes out.

If America could survive the assassinations of Lincoln and Kennedy, I'm 100.100% sure the Galactic Empire could survive the vaporization of Palps.

P.S.: I'm glad the ending of ROTJ: SE is getting shat on. Lucas deserves it.

What Were Hayden Christensen's Best and Worst Performances (Besides AOTC and ROTS)
Time

Let's see ... first, I have to list what I've seen him in (besides the PT).

Awake

Higher Ground

In the Mouth of Madness

Life as a House

His role in In the Mouth of Madness was less than insignificant, so I'm disregarding it. Of the remaining three, I've only seen Awake recently; the other two I haven't watched since the early '00s.

So -- for now -- I have to tentatively say that Awake is the best with either Higher Ground or Life as a House being the worst; should I watch either of the latter two in the near future, I may revise my evaluation.

Underrated Sequels/Prequels

Clark vs. Evil Supes in the junkyard is a great sequence in a mediocre movie though.

This scene is a distillation of what it is about Superman III that I like about it. Clark Kent -- the "mask", the "disguise" -- beats Superman -- the "true identity".

I am very much a fan of the post-Crisis Superman/Clark Kent -- where Clark Kent is who he is, Superman is what he does -- and this is the closest the live-action films have ever come to depicting that version of the character. For that -- and that alone -- I like Superman III.
