Star Wars: Knight of the Empire (The Second Episode in DuracellEnergizer's New PT Re-Write) *CANCELLED*
Time

EXT. XUTHLTAN – WAYWARD SON – DRIED-UP RIVERBED – SUNSET

Beneath the shade of the wrecked ship, Obi-Wan, Bail, and Moulin sit around Cmdr. Jango Cody. Several hours have passed since the crash, and the Journeyman Protector remains unconscious, his body laid out prone atop a scavenged stretcher.

At that moment, Vaness, Anakin, and Kathe emerge from the Wayward Son, each weighed down with as many full knapsacks as they can carry. Coming to the makeshift camp, they unload their burden before the others.

CMDR. VANESS: This is all we could salvage. (beat) We have enough food for a week – maybe a week and a half. Our water will last for half that, if we drink it sparingly.

DR. MOULIN: Cmdr. Cody was right; we should have conserved our supplies.

ANAKIN: Speaking of the devil, has our sleeping beauty stirred at all since we went aboard?

BAIL: (shakes his head) He hasn’t moved a muscle since the accident.

OBI-WAN: (looks up into the sky) Judging by the encroaching darkness, the sun or suns are going down. If there’s any civilization to be found – any food or water – we’d best go searching for it while it’s cool enough to travel.

MSC. NAAD: What’ll we do for weapons? Your lightsabers were lost in the fire and none of us have any extra power packs for our blasters when they run out of charge. There could be dangerous creatures out there.

VANESS: We’ll fashion makeshift knives and spears out of the wreckage and pray there’s nothing on this planet tougher than that.

BAIL: Do it. (stands up) Skywalker – you, Moulin, and Nadd handle the supplies; Raia, once you’re finished making the weapons, take lead; Obi-Wan and I’ll handle Cody. (beat) As soon as we’re ready, we’re leaving.

INT. CORUSCANT – 663 GASGAR VALLEY APARTMENT COMPLEX/LLOMON & MAHTTOH’S APARTMENT/LIVING AREA – DAY

Sitting in their apartment, the Trandoshan and Wookiee go over several hours worth of recorded surveillance footage and transmissions taken from Obi and Siri’s apartment. Though their non-Human visages are hard to read, they are intensely frustrated.

MAHTTOH: (in Shyriiwook, subtitled) It’s been over a week since we bugged the apartment. Kenobi hasn’t once shown up or made a transmission, and she hasn’t made any transmissions to him. (beat) This is hopeless!

LLOMON: (in Dosh, subtitled) Hopeless? No. We’ve just reached the limits of what surveillance alone can teach us. If we’re to learn where the husband is, we’re going to have to ask the wife.

MAHTTOH: You mean --?

LLOMON: Yes. (stands up) We’re going back to the Ryyk. Once we’ve suited up, we’re going to pay Siri Tachi a house call.

So how good is the Thrawn trilogy?

Anchorhead said:

The Thrawn series, the Mara Jade stories, and the Hand Of Judgement stories would make excellent films (all Zahn).

If only Lucas had handed the reins of the franchise over to others back in the '90s, when Hamill, Fisher, and Ford were still young enough to play the characters as they were written in those books. But noooooooo, we had to get over a decade of godawful acting, CG overload, and revisionism instead.

I still don’t understand your obsession, as a Star Wars fan, with avoiding TFA. I’ve seen it. It’s not what you think it is. It isn’t a mindless action movie that solely plays on nostalgia (although there’s just enough of that to keep it fun). It’s got substance and heart. Just because it came out after 1993 doesn’t mean it’s terrible. I urge you to reconsider.

To be honest, I am interested in seeing how Daisy Ridley pulled off her performance. For her and her alone, I’ll eventually see this movie, but I’m still in no great hurry to watch it.

Well, my hiatus is over; the prodigal jackass has returned.

Whatever’s been eating me, I think I’m over it now; I still have no interest in seeing TFA, but I’m not going to regard it as one of the Antichrist’s home movies or let it drive me away from here, either. Still, to avoid a relapse, I think I’m going to avoid the TFA-specific threads for the forseeable future.

WTF

Surprised you with my fast turn-around, didn’t I?

Good, good. That means I still have some cards of unpredictability up my sleeve.

What hiatus? You were absent from the forum for less time than I was, and I just went to bed and slept. 😛

I was gone but a day, but it felt like an eternity to me.

It’s been a few years since I read the books, so they’re not fresh in my mind, but I really, really enjoyed them; the trilogy reinvigorated my interest in the franchise after ROTS and the Legacy era had all but killed it for me. There were a few “fanficky” elements I disliked – Zahn’s explanation for Luke’s vision in the cave, his explanation of how Vader lost his hand, how he described the ysalamiri’s ability to block the Force – but they weren’t enough to ruin the story for me.

Where’s hairy_hen, though? He can sing the trilogy’s praises better than anyone on this forum.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure he hasn’t seen it…and he will insist on hating it even if he actually would have liked it.

I’m tired of investing time and interest in a franchise that, for years now, has produced nothing but disappointment for me. Nothing I’ve seen or read about this movie convinces me that it deserves the benefit of the doubt, so it’s not going to get that from me.

You do realize, you can avoid most of the TFA talk by remaining in the off topic section, right? (and yes, I know there a thread about TFA that someone stupidly put in the off topic section. But you can still avoid most of the talk of the new film by sticking to the off topic section)

Right now, my activity in off topic’s* starting to serve as a mirror, and I don’t like what I see when I look into it. My posts in the “Hot Women Who Just Don’t Do It For You” thread have brought that home for me.

I think it’s best that I just leave for a while and come back when I can stand to be around myself a little more.

*Hell, my activity throughout OT.com.

And have you even seen the movie? Because it’s pretty great.

No, I haven’t seen it, and there’s nothing – absolutely nothing – about the movie that compells me to see it.

And so what if we’re talking about it? It’s a star wars forum of course we’re going to talk about it.

Which is why I’m going to take a break from the forum instead of insisting everyone stop talking about it.

Why does us talking about a star wars movie on a star wars forum stress you out?

Everything I read or hear about this movie just annoys me. The more I read and the more I hear, the more annoyed I become and the higher the blood pressure rises. Even I can see how unhealthy that is.

Don’t take this the wrong way, because I hope that you stay, but you’re reasoning here is absurd.

Yes, it most definitely is absurd. There’s little I can to to remedy it but to remove myself from at least one of the absurdity’s causes.

A couple weeks ago, I made an announcement that I was going to quit OT.com for awhile. You guys managed to talk me out of it, and so I continued visiting and posting here. Well here I am again, making another announcement of my departure.

Suffice it to say, I’m dead-tired of everything pertaining to TFA, the ST, and the elevated fanboy Jar Jar Abrams, whose face I am oh so desperate to punch in. I’m sick of hearing about it all, reading about it all, and talking about it all. I want to forget about TFA – pretend that it doesn’t exist. Unfortunately, it does exist; it’s here, and that’s all everyone wants to discuss.

One of the reasons I visit OT.com is to get away from the various causes of stress in my life. But coming here now, at this time, is causing me nothing but stress. Therefore, I’m going to be taking a break from the forum for a couple months, enough time – hopefully – for all talk surrounding this fucking movie to die down.

I’ll continue to visit the re-write subforum from time-to-time to update my screenplays, and I’ll pay a visit on New Year’s Eve/Day, but otherwise, you won’t be seeing or hearing from me before March at the earliest.

'Til then, goodbye.
