The Rise of Skywalker Crackpot Theories Thread

TROS won’t just be the greatest SW which has been made and ever will be made, but the greatest film PERIOD. It will fix all the flaws in TLJ, TFA, the PT, the OT, and the whole of cinema since 1874. It will unite the SW fanbase and all of humanity, ushering in a utopian epoch which will end only once the last star has gone cold.

Though I’m a Christian, I’m not a big fan of most Bible-based films; most seem made to reinforce fundagelical dogma, at least to my cynical eye. But I absolutely loved The Last Temptation of Christ. I’d really like to get my hands on the novel one of these days.

I, too, am a Christian. But I suspect even an ardent non-believer would be moved by the movie if he approached it with an open mind.

Ironic thing is most of the film’s detractors have been believers.

Well, they say they are. Someone who truly is a believer in Christ and His ministry would have a much more open mind.

They can’t stomach the notion that God the Son struggled with doubt and lust and other human foibles and could’ve succumbed to them. Their “plain, straightfoward” reading of the Bible doesn’t allow for anything but a perfectly perfect Jesus.

Frankly, I think these people worship the Bible (especially the King James Version) more than Jesus.

After scrolling through the Star Wars Comic Collector blog that was linked to on the original Marvel Star Wars series I just had to share the glorious amateurishness and just plain weirdness of this Indonesian comic from 1979…

…as well as this “original story” simply called Giant Ant

So Mary Jo Duffy ripped off the Indonesians when she created the Hiromi.

Terrible cover art aside, is the Director’s Cut any better?

The director’s cut has reinserted deleted scenes, one bit of alternate dialogue, and different colour grading for the “story of Ra” flashbacks. I prefer the director’s cut for the most part, but objectively it isn’t any better or worse than the theatrical version. I’d recommend checking it out only if you liked the theatrical version. If you didn’t, then don’t bother.

The Ultimate Star Wars Saga
Time

I’ve been doing some worldbuilding, and here’s what I’ve got nailed down for the SWS:RE Universe:

  • The setting is our own Milky Way, some 25,000 years into the future.
  • Earth has either been abandoned/forgotten or become the city-planet Had Abbadon.
  • The Galactic Republic is 10,000-18,000 years old and spans a million worlds.
  • The known galaxy spans 25% of the Milky Way.
  • Excluding genetically divergent subspecies, just over three dozen sapient races inhabit the known galaxy.
  • Though not particularly speciesist, the Galactic Republic is an almost entirely human/near-human domain. There are very few member worlds with significant non-human populations, and human/non-human admixture is almost unheard of outside the Outer Rim territories.
  • Strong AI doesn’t exist. “Thinking machines” are actually cyborgs — robot bodies controlled by cultured organic brains.
  • Manned fightercraft are considered archaic and hopelessly cumbersome in modern warfare. Armed forces tend to use either remote-controlled fighters or robot fighters in combat. Remote-controlled fighters have some advantage over robots, as an organic pilot can outwit the weak AI of robot fighters. However, in the event that a remote-controlled fighter is heavily damaged or destroyed, feedback through the neural interface can kill or brain-damage the organic controller.
  • Lightsabers are entirely mystical, non-technological weapons which can only be constructed and ignited by trained Force adepts. At the heart of every lightsaber is a kyber crystal, the colour of which is shaped by the psyche/preferences of the adept who meditates over it. The blade of a lightsaber is paper-thin, with monomolecular edges. They don’t generate heat, but cut through almost any material by severing covalent bonds.
  • Force-sensitivity isn’t genetic; it cannot be inherited patrilineally, and clones of Force-sensitives will not inherit their template’s Force-sensitivity. However, Force-sensitivity is often passed on matrilineally. And if one child in a set of twins (identical or fraternal) is Force-sensitive, their sibling(s) are invariably Force-sensitive as well.
  • All space flight and space combat is in three dimensions.
  • Single-biome worlds capable of supporting complex life are rare and often marginally habitable. Life on Hoth is limited to the equator, life on Tatooine to the poles, etc.
  • Hyperspace travel is relatively slow. Travel between Tatooine and Alderaan — both Outer Rim planets — takes five days along a good hyperlane.

PS. The Yugoslavian version of ANH has by far the most hideous colouring of any comic book I’ve ever seen and I don’t think I’ll ever complain about the sometimes odd colour choices in old Scandinavian comics ever again after seeing this.

I got a Star Wars colouring book in the summer of 1997. I hadn’t yet seen ROTJ, so I didn’t know what colour an AT-ST was supposed to be. I just used my imagination and made it a psychedelic rainbow machine.

Perhaps someone handed the lineart to their kid and let them run wild? 😛

Star Wars: The Unifying Force (Episode I: Reconstructed Edition) *CANCELLED*
Time

EXT. SPACE — HAD ABBADON

The Slipstream heads toward Had Abbadon, capital of the Galactic Republic. The planet’s surface is completely covered with cities, interconnected concentric circles of golden light blazing against an ocean of dark bronze.

EXT. HAD ABBADON — JEDI TEMPLE — DAY

The imperious ziggurat of the Jedi Temple stands against the electric blue sky.

INT. JEDI TEMPLE/COUNCIL CHAMBERS — DAY

Within the stately room located at the apex of the Jedi Temple stands Obi-Wan. Seated around him are the TWELVE MASTERS of the Jedi High Council. Though as black as his own, their uniforms are more ceremonial in form and function, consisting of long robes and tabards.

OBI-WAN

Recordings implicating the attackers were recovered from the wreck of the Radiant VII. Their identity is no longer a mystery. The Potentium has been orchestrating these raids.

MACE WINDU

Qui-Gon Jinn’s sect?

Reaching into his tunic, Obi-Wan brings forth a small holoprojector. Activating it, a three-dimensional projection of Asajj Ventress’ upper body is displayed, the brooch front-and-centre.

OPPO RANCISIS

Master Jinn is an idealist, not a murderer.

OBI-WAN

The facts are what they are. This woman is a Potentiate.

YADDLE

A rogue agent, perhaps.

MACE WINDU

We cannot afford to assume that.

DEPA BILLABA

How would we go about tracking the renegades down? They’ve been underground since their expulsion.

OBI-WAN

(hesitant) Shmi Warka may have their location.

There is a moment of tense silence. The masters, Windu in particular, observe Obi-Wan keenly.

OBI-WAN

Shmi was his apprentice.

PLO KOON

Warka chose not to join the Potentium. Isn’t that so?

OBI-WAN

Their relationship remained close even after Jinn disclosed his heresy. Shmi may have been privy to that knowledge.

The Jedi masters turn to one another. After some low murmuring followed by nods of ascent, they turn their gaze back on Obi-Wan.

MACE WINDU

You have our permission to rendezvous with Jinn’s apprentice.

Obi-Wan bows with thanks.

There’s this one storyline in TCW about this gargantuan creature that had indestructible skin, so much so that even lightsabers bounced off it. After killing it Palpatine commissions a secret cloning of the creature to research its skin impregnable properties.

What bothers me is that this story is never brought up again. Don’t know if there was a Legends continuity comic or something that wrapped up the story, but under the Disney canon the story remains unresolved.

OK, the creature is called the Zillo Beast. Any thoughts on this unresolved storyline?

It’s clones and Barriss Offee are having various & sundry adventures together in the Land of Limbo.
