Very interesting Tie design this episode for the new villian Moff Gideon.
Is it meant to be a new design, or a retcon for how normal TIEs land?
I’m certain I’ve seen concept art from a few years back utilizing this design.
New movies that respected and tastefully expanded the lore — and weren’t just aimless, poorly conceived and executed soft reboots — along with a restored release of the OUT, is all we wanted.
I just wanted the OUT. Competent new films would’ve been welcome, but I would’ve been content if the saga had remained closed.
The Skywalker family is completely dead and gone and the Emperor’s granddaughter takes the Skywalker name.
Imagine only having seen ANH and then being told this was the ending. That sounds like the villains win in the end. It makes it sound like this whole franchise is a complete waste of time.
This is why my love affair with postmodernism is over. Deconstruction without reconstruction is destruction.

I want to return to The Last Son of Krypton and my original stories, and this Star Wars stuff is only distracting me. I need to trim the fat and concentrate on from what really matters most to me.
Maybe the original idea of him as a sort of slimy used car salesman could show up in the prequels through dubbing. Especially if Anakin and Watto would have built him.

What I don’t understand is that if the original 1997 Special Edition prints were given a new remaster, then how come the sound mixes still sound so compressed as in the 2004/2011 releases? It’s incredibly noticeable for A New Hope.
I mean, just because they rescanned the film doesn’t mean they didn’t reuse the 11SE mix they already had. They certainly wouldn’t recreate it.
Yeah, keep your expectations in check. This isn’t a Harmyfilm Restoration or Adywan Productions product.
This is an official release we’re talking about. They leave the quality to the fan projects.

Has anyone given any thought to making the space battles in the movies three-dimensional? It would require extensive re-editing/reshooting, but it would make for an interesting approach, IMO.

Disney revises and buries the original versions of their own films without reservation. It’s laughable to believe they would approach Star Wars any differently.
And this is why I’m boycotting Disney. It’s not merely because I hate the ST; it’s due to everything they do, their approach towards filmmaking and film preservation and copyright in general. All corporations are evil, but Disney’s a breed apart, and I won’t feed that godless abomination a single non-circulating Canadian penny.
Watched the first three episodes of Season 2, then took a break. I plan on getting back into it eventually.
