Vol. 2 is a much better movie (even if I don’t agree with Bill’s interpretation of Superman).
Had a pair of quite unusual dreams last night.
The first dream was about an archaic human — a Cro-Magnon, a Neanderthal, or a hybrid between the two — who became a werewolf. The details escape me, but he wasn’t an animalistic killing machine; he retained his human intelligence and used his lycanthropy only in defense of his tribe.
The second was far more bizarre, and I recall even less of it. Godlike entities transported myself and a number of other individuals to another planet/universe. Once there, we became overlords in possession of advanced technology. I befriended one of my fellow overlords — a woman who resembled Suzanne Vega, only curvier — and began hanging out at her citadel/supermarket, where I drank a pitcher of ice-cold milk which was just divine. She and I eventually entered into an intense romantic/sexual relationship. Then she, I, and the other overlords were transported back to Earth, along with our advanced citadels.

I dislike Boston on principle, never having been there.
Just how much of the Omniverse do you hate?
Seeing the X-Files go on like this makes me sad. I love the early seasons.
Whereas J. Michael Straczynski took time and care crafting Babylon 5, making sure he had the series’ story planned out years in advance, making significant changes only when real-world issues got in the way, Chris Carter has no vision, no goal, makes shit up as he goes along, and changes his mind on a whim.
Chris Carter is the Anti-Straczynski.
So Chris Carter wouldn’t write a Superman walking around aimlessly and almost letting a woman commit suicide?
He’d probably make Superman part of the alien conspiracy … until he doesn’t. And he’d make Supes a Kryptonian … until he isn’t.
All joking aside, I’m not a fan of Straczynski’s superhero work, either. Superman: Earth One was crud, the “spider totem” stuff he injected into Spidey’s backstory was beyond unnecessary, and Thor … I hate that movie. The man should stick to stuff like Babylon 5.
ALLOL!
I figured he was toenail fungus gone horribly wrong.
It displeases me that humanism and secular humanism have become conflated. The core tenets of humanism resonate with me, but I’ll never be able to identify as humanist without causing others to believe I’m a rationalist/materialist/non-theist, which I most certainly am not.
After months of inactivity on this script, I’ve decided I’m going to retool the whole story. Right now, as the story stands, only the prologue pleases me; the rest is mired is human ugliness, and I’m presently tired of writing that kind of stuff. I want to write more hopeful, humanist* stories.
I may retire this thread and start a new one. I haven’t decided which yet.
*“Humanist” as in “emphasizing the value and agency of human beings”, not “humanist” as in “secular humanist”.
Am I the only one who hates that the opening credits haven’t been updated? It’s 2018. David Duchovny’s 57. Gillian Anderson’s 49. Mitch Pileggi’s got a beard. Yet here we are, using footage shot in 4:3 stretched/cropped to 16:9, with cast photos from the '90s. It looks lazy and cheap.
Were it up to me, I’d use the Season 9 credits with updated cast photos. Then again, I’m not the auteur Chris Carter is.
It’d be nice if the cinematic universe BS was just jettisoned once and for all and we could get superhero movies that strive to tell their own stories without being tailored to fit into one great big homogenized continuity and serve as mega-trailers for pointless crossover films.
That’s what’s weird about it, it seems like that’s actually what they’re doing here.
My point exactly.

Nevermind. Late response, was Late.
Maybe if you woke up a little earlier last month. 😋
FTFY

It’s currently 4°C and raining. Tomorrow it’s supposed to fall to -4 and stay within that range 'til Monday.

The worst part about this is how they used a soundtrack cover for the DVD/Blu-ray.
ALLOL!
That’s a little complicated. In the bigger picture, no. Marvel Studios had no hand in the production of this film like they did with Homecoming.
However, it might still be connected to Homecoming’s Spider-man. If it is then this will be the start of a pocket Spideyverse.
Where that Spider-man can crossover and interact with a variety of other characters that are not part of the MCU canon.
But that’s only if Sony does decide to connect them.
If the Venom film’s any good, I hope there is no such connection.
If it’s mediocre/bad, it won’t matter.

Couldn’t be any worse than ghetto trash Joker.
Dear Subconscious Mind,
Stop sending me dreams about her. Such dreams are almost invariably some combination of disappointing, depressing, and frustrating. As my FUBARed relationship with her in the real world is all of the above (and then some), I’d prefer it if you fucked off.
Sincerely,

I saw Source Code.
I liked it.
Vera Farmiga looks older as a brunette than as a blonde.
Some days ago, I had a dream that I watched footage from an early cut of ROTJ. Here’re the details I recall from the dream:
“Anakin” was played by Mark Hamill himself. Here’s what Mark looked like in the old-age makeup:
I don’t think Duracell was being rude, just joking in a kinda snarky way.
Exactly. I think The Courtship of Princess Leia is dreck and don’t understand how anyone could enjoy it, but YMMV.
