Chronologically Lost HD (Remaster of Mike Maloney's edit) (Released) SEND PM FOR LINKS, DON'T REPLY ON THREAD

Yeah, luckily the foundation was already set, it certainly isn’t something I would have liked to sort myself, so it was mostly about tidying it up. Still unsure how I’ll have it uploaded yet, got it currently on my main Google drive as I did each episode and could just link that, or get a 1TB Mega account and upload it there. Also have to see what the interest for this will be like after its finished.

Also found another oddball episode (89) that was cropped on the right side (filled in the rest to show how much was gone) for some reason: http://www.framecompare.com/image-compare/screenshotcomparison/D777GNNX

So basically this is the same as http://www.chronologicallylost.com/ but HD?

Pretty much, it follows the same structure, just rebuilt using a Blu-ray source this time. Few differences here and there like moving one of the brief time flashes and tidying up the audio mix. Others I couldn’t do like the Season 2 finale having bits gone as they were cut out from the two-part version (on Blu-ray and PAL DVD) and he used a Region 1 DVD source (which I don’t have. Would have upscaled those cut bits and included them if I had full rips of it) which had the episode in its single broadcast form. Maybe if I manage to get a full rip of the finale from that set in the future, I’ll do a version 2 of those episodes (Season 1 finale had a couple of shot differences between releases but not as much as Season 2. Can’t say anything for the rest yet)

As someone who’s thought of doing exactly this since I first got hold of Chronologically Lost - thanks for tackling this!

Sure thing. I put together episode 60 (start of Season 3) the other day so it’s getting there.

Leaving those untouched, nothing I can do about them sadly. heh Was like that for me too, it’s quite hard for me to watch it in its intended order now, especially how it tended to repeat certain scenes etc to show a different side, was main influence for me doing this so I could have a Chronological edit that was in HD.
The crash is on episode 26 for this version, each episode runs about 40-50 mins (one 1977 episode over an hour).

The Webisodes are included in this too, whatever ones the original edit had. Good thing those are in 1080p as well but I’m doing a little more with those as they were mixed in Stereo while this edit is 5.1, so I’m doing a 5.1 upmix for the webisodes (nothing fancy, just isolating and separating the dialogue into a Center channel with some balancing). Also having to do a custom subtitle track for them too as my Season 4 Blu-ray set for some reason only has Foreign subs for those special features.

I was tempted to go through the deleted scenes and add those in, but it would have been quite jarring overall so I’m ignoring them.

How are you handling the time lines in your chronological edit? I did a sd edit of this myself years ago, took two tries (pc died 4 seasons in on one try and no back up) and I cut it so Jack dies on the island, watches the plane fly overhead and then the entire alternate time line plays out as his near-death experience with the end being the group reunited (with all the scenes of him dying on the island excised as they were used for his island death scene).

Ouch, that’s a shame.

It’s gonna be mainly the same as the original edit I’m basing it on, same episode names and so on, so the Flash-sideways will be in its own Epilogue set after the events on the Island.

I was rewatching the ‘Chronologically Lost’ edit recently and while it was nice to revisit, it was certainly feeling dated now with its quality, which was expected being done around the time the series was finishing and even Mike himself said doing it in HD would be quite a task.

Fan edits isn’t something I’ve done much of, so I wasn’t sure if this was something I could do,. Surely is something I would have liked to see if someone else had done it but no idea who would want to re-edit all 100+ episodes again. 😄

The big thing that’ll help with this remaster is a consistent source used for all episodes as the original did have areas that had HDTV recording used (Season 6 area) and certain episodes that were stretched (S2E9 What Kate Did was more horizontally stretched), as well as being edited in 30fps (for some reason).

As far as split screens go, for the most part it’s the same as the original, but I’ve replaced a couple with switching back and forth between perspectives if it felt better or made more sense narratively (which is ironic for an edit like this 😄 ). Also tidied up the split screens as well:

[Left=Original, Right=HD Remaster]

Specs:
Video: 1080p 5mbps, Audio: AAC 5.1 320kbps (Webisodes upmixed to 5.1), English CC subs

Feel free to PM me if you’re interested, but don’t reply on the thread for links. I no longer get emails for some reason on when there’s a reply.

The Terminator - Color Regrade [No Longer Available]

I did a quick rescan of the Technoir frame as I upgraded my camera. I got the 5D Mark IV a few days ago, but don’t have a Macro lens anymore since it was a Crop lens, so I had to use a Macro extension tube. Not used for quality reference but hopefully the improved sensor shows some improvement colour-wise over my old 60D scan: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1bPzPhRPIgFDK3-uyW-2oPaFgZG7ovq-G
