There's no way they could get away with that. The tape masters for B5 look terrible! The series needs what TOS and TNG are getting. But I dunno if the original film elements even still exist.

Well if I remember the news from the time this was released on DVD, the live action footage is a new scan of the 35mm negatives, and the special effect footage (or combined live action/special effects footage) is cropped from the 4:3 tape and upscaled to 480i (and further to 576i) but it's true that was a couple of years ago.

Yeah that is what I heard too. It's a real shame because every once in a while you will come across a scene or even a whole episode that isn't badly damaged and it will look really good.  I really wish there was a market for restoring these episodes for Bluray and redoing the effects shots like TOS.

Well to be 100% fair a lot of the film for B5 was damaged in an earthquake so that is the reason some of it looks so bad.  Also the show was shot in widescreen because JMS and others saw that coming,it was just staged in such a way that all the action took place in a 4:3 frame. It's my understanding that they only zoom in when they don't have a widescreen copy of a shot due to film being damaged.  I wish we had a group of fans like the Doctor Who restoration team to work on B5 who would look for and find the best film elements and restore them, because B5 deserves to look good.

Oh and as for my remarks about fan fiction,I have written fan fiction myself and it is a great way to get into writing and I have read some stories that are better then the series or movies they are based on and I consider most fan fiction endings(including my own)for Mass effect 3 to be better then what we got in the game. I have written some stuff that people seem to like. I consider that my stuff needs a lot of work to truly be counted as good but I do my best. Still that doesn't stop me from having a sense of humor about myself and others on Fanfiction.net and making the odd joke at our own expense. After all if you can't laugh at yourself, what is the point?

Hey I have a question about the single player mode on the PC version of Call of Duty 4 modern warfare that I can't find an answer to anywhere else on the internet.  My dad's birthday is coming up and I think this would be the perfect gift because he likes playing shooters on his PC but he doesn't have a highspeed connection, does COD4 require one to play single player?  I have googled it but some sites say it does and some sites say it doesn't,does anyone here know for sure?

Thanks for your help.

Yeah that is what I am afraid will bring these movies down, the executives caring more about the links to other movies then making each movie a good movie in it's own right. When the director of Captain America didn't want to do the modern world stuff they didn't make him, they shot it with another director and let him make Captain America as a stand alone movie and just used the link stuff as a wrap around, but if you cut that stuff out Captain America would still work as a stand alone movie with a beginning, middle, and end,so it is is still a film in it's own right and not just a link in a long chain. I hope that isn't what is happening here. Maybe I am just a biased because Hot Fuzz is one of my favorite movies of all time, but I find it worrying that they could have a director this good working on a project for so long and then just have it fall apart. Something feels off about this whole thing and it worries me,that is all.

Once in a while I buy a Cyberman action figure or maybe a Dalek bubblebath.

I have an example of all the available Cyberman types all but the current one (they never made a figure of the variant seen in The Wheel In Space).

I was feeling a bit down after burning myself so I thought I'd look into getting the new look Cyberman to join his plastic pals.

That's when I found out Character Options changed the scale of their figures to 5inch to 3.75 inch.

WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!????

[fill in the blank] Just Died!
Time

Well that is just sad. Everyone who works on movies should watch his films to see how movies should be lit to create tension and mood while still allowing the viewers to see what is going on.

Please could someone show his work to JJ Abrams and whoever gave him the idea that shining spotlights directly into the camera is a good idea so that they know what a mistake they have made before they start shooting the next Star Wars movie and ruin it?

Well that was intense and a perfect example of why I love 24.

Working with terrorist can lead to the loss of limbs, who could have seen that coming?!

Oh and it is time for weasel face to go,he has done nothing but screw up and commit crimes from second one of this season.

It looks like the shit is really going to get real next week and I can't wait.

You know what i think I am liking most about this series, that it seems to be made up of stand alone stories that have recurring characters instead of it being one big story with one big villain hanging over it all.  Now don't get me wrong I have nothing against the serial format where each episode leads into the next but lately it feels like everyone is doing it and I am a little tired of it. Some times I just want to be able to watch one episode of a Tv show, see the story play out,and not be left in suspense. So good job Justified. I like the characters so you don't need some sort of consent threat hanging over the series to keep me watching, just characters in interesting stories.  I really am enjoying this series and I can't believe I never heard of it before.

I just finished the first episode of a series called Justified. I know nothing about it other then it's case caught my eye in the local library. Anyone who knows me will tell you that there are few things I like more then a good western and so far this seems to be a fresh modern take on the western. it's well acted, tense, and the shoot outs are really well directed and edited. i would say it is good even for a film,it's not often that you see action and stand offs done this well on Tv.  So far I have to say I am having a good time watching this show.

Yeah the way Warner Brothers treats B5 is a disgrace.  It didn't become as big as Star Trek after five years so they just gave up on it and now the show is slowly dying.  It's why I am backing up my Dvds so that if they ever go i will still have the show somewhere.  Finding the DvDs is becoming hard, that is one reason I would not hold it against anyone if they torrented the show. It's a shame because i think it was remastered B5 would find new viewers.

The Kinet was never going to work in the real world for the vast majority of games and it takes up space that I don't have in my living room so I for one am glad to see the back of it.  Also I don't see why people should have to have highspeed internet in order to play games on their console that they paid for. You see I like ten percent of the country live in an area where there are no highspeed lines and that whole satilite based internet thing costs too much money and doesn't work for gaming(I know because I tried it)so I am glad to see Microsoft getting rid of that too.

The Xbox one is in an odd place right now, sort of a worst of both worlds. Sure, the online requirements were terrible and M did well to ditch them but it's still a system that is HEAVILY reliant on bandwidth.

The system itself cannot do anything until you download and install the operating system and many games require a 'day one' patch that can be up around 6 to 7 Gigabytes.

If you live in an  area with poor internet speeds or reliability then your time with the system will probably be frustrating.

The company was WAY off on what they thought people wanted and now we have this weird hybrid. System updates have been coming in rapidly to implement things that should have been there from the start.

It's a good thing that Don Matrick left when he did or Ballmer may have had him skinned alive.

Wow,6 or 7 gigs, really?!  Well I guess it still not the system for me,too bad:(

Six gigs of updates for each game, that five hundred gig hard drive will fill up fast and there is no way I can do that much updating for each game on my internet.

Shame because I was looking forward to getting an XBox one but boy they have really screwed up.  I picked Xbox for the last two generations, way to screw up microsoft.

Well this past week i have been watching the first season of Scarecrow and Mrs.King on DvD.  I have to admit I only picked up this show at the library because I am such a huge B5 fan and it is beyond dated. if you have trouble taking 80s family shows you will not make it through one episode of this show. Still you know what? When I am in the right mood it's an enjoyable kind of dated. It's from a much simpler time when we didn't have plot arcs and stories were resolved within an hour but I guess maybe that is what I need once in while. It's lighthearted and not the sort of thing that you should think to hard about but the two leads are good, the episodes are interesting enough to keep me watching for the hour, and it has a fun lighthearted feel.

I can't explain why I have found this show to be enjoyable because when i think about it this should be the type of show that I hate but for some reason I did enjoy it. I guess it is one of those shows that you either like or you will not get it at all and if you do get it you can't explain why.  It was a fun little trip back to the decade of my birth and I don't regret watching it so that is something.

If you are looking for some light 80s escapism then give this show a shot,it may surprise you.

I know the show, because my Girlfriend is a big fan of Bruce Boxleitner. She owns all 4 seasons on DVD and she watches them once a year. I'm just glad she doesn't do that with Babylon 5.

Something odd happens when Scarecrow and Mrs. King is on TV again, and I stumble across it while zapping through the channels. It's always the same episode: "Wrong Number".

Well never hang out I my place I work my way through B5 on DvD once a year.

That is odd but the same thing keeps happening to me with the show Castle, every time I come across a rerun of it on TV it's always the episode with the underground poker players, weird.

Are we both part of some evil X Files style government experiment?
