I wasn't trying to say you can't or even shouldn't like it(I do include it when i watch a marathon of Star trek Films)it was just that your first post seemed to express confusion as to why people don't like the movie,so i was trying to explain that.  Sorry if that was lost in my long rambling posts, print is not the medium in which I express myself the best.  Sorry if it came off as a personal attack or went a bit overboard.  One of the reasons I like threads like this is that people can explain why they do or don't like a movie and I find exploring those different viewpoints interesting.  For instance your reasons for liking Insurrection are almost the same as my reasons for liking Star Trek V.  It is a pretty bad movie but the camping scene and the banter between the three leads saves it for me,so i do understand your view point.  I was just trying to explain mine is all.  Sorry if I messed that up.

I found The Muppets to be one of those movies with so many callbacks as to be detrimental. I was reminded so many times of the better movies/moments that I decided that I would rather be watching them than the movie they were making.

How did you feel about Bret McKenzie's songs?

I have been watching it with kids every time I have seen it so I don't really get to watch the credits but if he wrote the song that Kermit sang in his house and the Tex Richman song,I love them and find myself humming them all the time.  He may not be Paul Williams but I think he did a good job filling in.

SF Debris is about as real a Star trek fan as you can get. I mean he gives episodes of Voyager and Enterprise 10/10,which is more then I would ever do.  He just calls things as he sees them too and tends to focus on the moral implications of the episodes and films instead of plot details, which I know can rub some people the wrong way.

By the way I know how it feels to like something others see as stupid as I enjoy a few Star trek and Doctor Who episodes that are not well loved.  How ever as much as I may like The Twin Dilemia on a personal level i will not deny that people have good reason for not liking it and it damaged the show over all.  I also wouldn't say anyone was wrong for call the Doctor a complete maniac in this story and wondering why Peri would continue to travel with him.  I may like the story but I am not blind to it's massive flaws either.

Still for the record here he is being positive about the series and well he opened my eyes to a hidden gem that I had completely forgotten about.  http://blip.tv/sf-debris-opinionated-reviews/voy-the-thaw-review-6039658

Really so the heroes in this movie disagreed with other people about how to live and instead of saying live and let live they forced them off of the planet when they knew this would result in a slow and painful death and you don't see that as genocide?  All of the heroes are the most perfectly white people I have ever seen on a movie screen and you don't see a problem with that? Also back in TNG when it was nonwhite people who needed to be relocated for the greater good Picard was fine with it.

Oh and you really don't see anything wrong with a people who send people to die for the horrid crime of wanting to use technology while they use advanced tools and wear clothes that could only be produced by technology? Oh and as someone who has lived my whole live in farming country let me tell you there is no way to keep things that clean and white even with technology,so they have to be using some advanced form to keep their homes and clothes clean and yet they get to preach at people.  Also they refuse to use technology because it is wrong but then they are fine with the crew of the enterprise using it to save them. Again so it's okay to let others fight for you while preaching that fighting and technology is wrong?  This is really okay and you don't think having a problem with this type of thinking is a valid view point.  Also you see to be saying for the record that this is the only perfect film ever made. Even Citizen Kane had flaws but since you have said it is wrong to be critical of this film you are in fact stating it is perfect.

Also since you didn't watch the whole video you can't judge,at least I watched the whole movie and read your whole comment.  Also SF debris may be the smartest sci-fi critic out there and you are saying not one issue he brought up could be an issue?  Seems like you have a blind worship of this movie.  You want to get down to the nitty gritty with no set ups or jokes(Because he does comedic reviews)then take a look at this,it's not from SF Debris but I warn you there are jokes and it addresses the same issues and is a little snarky. Oh and to be clear I don't always agree with SF Debris(For instance he hates some Doctor Who stories I love) but I always leave his reviews understanding and respecting why he feels that way and I get a good laugh so i can't really ask for more for something that is free to view on the internet.

Oh and if you are interested here is what I see as SF debris' mission statement.

http://www.bookgallery.co.il/sfdebris/44_VOY_832_Threshold_(Intro).avi

Sorry it's only a download link but it was the only copy of this video I could find on the web and I think it best explains why i watch SF debris and why I am trying to understand your view point.  Also i think this next link says better then I did why I have the problems that I did. It gets right to the heart of the problem of this movie.  it's a message movie and the message just doesn't work for most people and that is why we have a problem with it. I am sorry for all the links but I am just really bad at explaining my point of view in print without my meds.  if I could post my own videos addressing this I would but I just have to settle for using videos that explain it better then I can at the moment, sorry.

http://blip.tv/sf-debris-opinionated-reviews/star-trek-insurrection-part-3-review-5306564

Please note I didn't try to change how you thought about this film or say you were wrong for enjoying it. The world would be a very boring place if we all liked the same things, but I at least try to understand other people's view points and that is what I am trying to do here but so far your views have not been explained so i can just do my best to explain mine in my own worthless rambling way. I am not trying to force you to hate anything or like anything.  I was just explaining why some people had a problem with that and your response is not to explain why the film is good but to attack those who don't like it and say their views are not valid.  I am not saying that your views are not valid or that you have to hate the film, just that I don't understand your views as you have explained them and your seeming personal hatred of anyone who says this film may have a flaw or two in it.

The moral of Star Trek insurrection was that genocide is okay and as long as you are white and amish, that was my and I think most people's problem with the film.

That and the fact that they stole a plan from Bart Simpson and executed it worse then he did.

If you want to understand why people don't like this movie then watch this.  You don't have to agree with it or even stop liking the film but I think it should be noted that people are not just disliking this film just because they want to dislike it.  I saw it in theaters and I wanted to like it,but I couldn't and this video does a a really good job of explaining why.  Like I said you can still think it's the best movie and that is fine but if you have any interest in understanding why people like me don't like the movie this is your best chance of understanding.

Oh but i do agree Gremlins 2 is a hugely underrated movie.

Rank The Muppet Films!
Time

1)The Muppet movie(Not only the best Muppet movie but one of my favorite films of all time.)

2)The Great Muppet Caper(This is a Muppet movie with Diana Rigg my favorite actress of all time in it,what more do you want?!)

3)The Muppets Take Manhattan

4)The Muppets(The Muppets returned to the big screen and they are brought there by a creative team that really seems to understand them.  I wasn't expecting much when i went into the theater but this movie perfectly captured the feel of the Muppets and I laughed and even shed a few tears. This was tied with Tin Tin as my favorite big Hollywood production of it's year.)

5)The Muppet's Christmas Carol(I would rank this higher but they screwed up a few things with Scrooge's character that took away from his overall depthlike making him already obsesed with money when he met Bell and removing fran from the story so we have no idea where Fred came from and why Scrooge was so cold to him. It changed Scrooge from being a complex character to just a greedy SOB who turned good. This movie has a lot going for it but I can't rank it any higher then this because of those problems. Still the songs are good even if the widescreen cut does cut out the most important song in the film.)

6)Muppets Treasure Island

7)Muppets from space(after all the mystery having Gonzo turn out to be an alien in what was really a lifeless spoof of the X-Files was a real let down and as far as I am considered it didn't happen.  Gonzo is special because he is one of a kind and taking that away was really stupid if you ask me.)

I have not had a chance to see the latest Muppet movie yet so i can't rank it.

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

Ebaillargeon82 said:

Yes, sir. I think this Despecialized Edition is going to work out fine. I, uh, was also thinking about our agreement about preserving the original mix forever. And if this Despecialized Edition does work out, I want it to replace the original camera negative this year.

Ok, in regards to the real world, I decided it would be less confusing if fans (including myself) only need to download the Despecialized Edition and not bother with all those confusing .srts (they confused me). So, I decided to convert the MKV file into an AVI file. I then uploaded it on YouTube.com, but Fox almost immediately blocked it on copyright grounds. Then, I uploaded it on archive.org.

So you can watch the Despecialized Edition at:

For some reason, I can't stream the video (as of this writing). But fans can still download it. No need to download all the confusing stuff (well, to me, it was confusing) that I mentioned above.

Please delete this at once, before you get someone in trouble.

Oh and that is an awful way to post the film any way.  I wouldn't download a one hour tv show that's file was only 1.2 gigs, how did you fit an inter film in that file.  It will be so compressed it will look like an NES game.  What is the point of restoring a film only to release it in a format where you can't see anything?!

Please delete that link and take the file off of Archive.org.  I don't want to see Harmy or this website get into trouble.

AKA "Hey, look there's a cop! Hey dude you want some pot? Here let me roll it for ya."

That is just awful and I hope it gets deleted soon.

Also the file wouldn't be good for anything any way.  I mean 1.2 gigs is a poor size for a one hour Tv show, how is putting a whole two hour film in that file supposed to be worth it?  What is the point of restoring the film if you can't see anything?

For older fans. Getting made fun of for liking Star Wars in the 70s/80s.
Time

I remember Batman and Star Wars being the cool "in" things with kids in the early 90s. Batman was cool up until Batman and Robin came out. There were a few years where Star Trek was pretty cool and sold a lot of toys and such.

In fact I remember being a Star Trek and Doctor Who fan got me bullied by other kids who were Star Wars and Power Rangers fans.  It was okay to be a Star Wars or Power Rangers fan but not a Doctor Who fan.  I knew people who up until a few years ago wouldn't even admit they had seen Doctor Who,and most of the people who would pick on us were Star Wars fans, despite the fact that I was a Star Wars fan too!

I have never been picked on for being a Star Wars fan and even the non sci-fi fans I hang out with like Star Wars.  In fact Star Wars is the only Sci-Fi I can think of that it has always been okay to like.

I once browsed theforce.net but after seeing how they treated people who just wanted to have fun with Star Wars and not worship it I decided not to register and post there.

I like this site a lot more.

Here we all love Star Wars but we are also allowed to laugh at the sillier moments and make a few jokes.  You all seem to understand that you can like something and still enjoy laughing at it at the same time.  You know like Doctor Who fans love the show but love laughing at the Underwater menace.

This place is fun, thanks for keeping it that way.

Ben Affleck cast as new Batman
Time

There are a few things about these photos that make me laugh.

1)The suit looks like it is made out of rubber. If they go down that road I think tights look less silly.

2)it looks like the suit is being used to try and hind the fact that Afleck has a tiny gut and isn't as muscle bound as they want him to be.  I know how out of shape I am but then again I am not trying to play Batman.  Here is a tip if you get cast as Batman and you want me to believe you would last more then a second in a fight with Superman...HIT THE GYM!

3)The way the buttchin looks like it is being squeezed out of the cowl under pressure. It's just looks silly to me,sorry.
