Glad to know you are feeling better, DrCrow.  : )

Yeah and i owe it all to my doctor who kept calling and faxing medicaid until they finally let me have my meds.

What is more we had to keep seeing him to talk about the meds and get new prescritions the whole time this was going on and he he refused to let us pay for any of the visits to his office because he said he wasn't doing me any good yet so he wouldn't take money for it. Despite the fact that he worked his butt off to get me back on my meds.  Given that my family has been strapped for cash lately this was a godsent for us.  My shrink is the best.

I don't know I still like it better then Achy Breaky heart. I have not heard that "song" since I was a kid but it was on the radio so much I bet I can remember all of the words.

Still it's pretty bad and I CAN'T GET IT OUT OF MY HEAD!

bkev said:

It was a referendum. I like the idea of a direct decision by the people, but I don't consider this a real vote since they had yet to establish any guidelines as to what an independent Scotland really means. That would be like voting to decriminalize medical marijuana on a federal level without setting up a new standard that each state would have to abide by when giving prescriptions.

Yeah i can see how some people who may want Scotland to be it's own country may have voted against doing it this way since there doesn't seem to have been a plan in place for how to set up or run the country.

If I were going to vote for something like that I would want details and a plan in place before voting yes.

One thing is for sure this is sure to be talked about for years to come.

The real problem is, now that this has been put to a vote, the people that wouldn't have cared before do. And, as a result, the minority has now become a much larger voice -- hence the pretty damn close vote. They're now officially marginalized in a way they weren't before. Should've put it to a real vote and set some damn guidelines as to what independence would mean before this referendum.

That said, obligatory Simpsons jokes.

I am sorry for what I said about cops.  it was really wrong and there is no excuse for it but I will try to explain.

When I am off my meds I tend to flip out and take the most extreme stances on everything and I can't see that I am doing it.  I am sorry.

Despite my own personal problems with the police and the my belief that we give them too much power and it is too hard to bring the bad ones down I now see I was wrong to say all cops are bad.

I know most of them are trying their best to do the right thing in a system that is flawed because everything made by humans is flawed in some way.

It is wrong to be happy when they die because chances are that was a good cop.

I am sorry I said the things I said and I hope you can forgive me.

Westminster lies to Scotland shocker!!!

CLICKY

Just what did they lie about?  That guy didn't make it clear.   What was the agreement about? What did they pledge to do?

Seems that when the YES vote started to make grounds last week, their was a scramble to come up with some type of bribe offer. The offer made to Scotland ahead of the independence vote, was to include plans for new powers on tax, spending and welfare.

Well if that doesn't happen that could lead to a lot of trouble down the road. Then again if you believe anything polotictions tell you I kind of think you only have yourself to blame when you get played for a sucker:)

I mean haven't we learned yet that they can't be trusted?

Oh and yes i know given my extreme stance on things when I am off my meds(Like some of the awful things I have said about cops in the past)this may seem like another extreme stance on my part but it's not, don't worry it's just a joke.

I know not everyone in government is lying and evil, just 99.9% of them are lying demon spawn:)

I misunderstood. Figured you meant something more gimmicky... like LOST with the constant flashbacks.

Yeah I am not going down that road.  I tried to get into lost because it had some actors i liked in it but I kept getting lost and confused by all the flashbacks so there is no way I would go down that road:)

I would want my series to be welcoming to new fans so people who have never watched Star trek before can start with it and not be lost while at the same time building on what came before so old fans could also enjoy it.  I would hope to pull it off as well as the relaunch of Doctor Who pulled off it's drawing in of new viewers while throwing a few nods to the past in.

 It is. :)

I'm actually going to my own Star Wars fanfic pitch I have in the back of my main notebook (where I keep doodles of superhero costume redeisgns, fan fic ideas, and hearts with my and Jennifer Connely's initials in them).

I'm typing it up to share.

 Sounds like fun:)

Fanfiction may get laughed at but I find it is a great way to get the creative juices flowing and practice writing.  You don't have to worry about coming up with a whole world you can just think about what you would do with a world that already exists that you love.  It's a lot of fun if you ask me.

I can't wait to read your ideas. I love reading other people's stories, that why I have a ton of stories favorited on Fanfiction.net so i can follow them:)

Some of my family comes from Scotland but really I had no strong feelings one way or the other on this matter.

The closest I came to getting invested was thinking that if Scotland did break off I would miss the old Union flag that has been the flag for the UK for so long.

Sounds like it was close and this will be something the Scottish will be arguing over for many years to come.

The Sword in the Stone.

Well this is odd for me it's a classic Disney movie I had never seen before and I didn't plan on watching it this morning I was just dubbing the tape to Bluray for my little brother and sister and I intended to go play Halo while it ran but you know what it sucked me in.

Now it is from the period when Disney was having to cut budgets so it doesn't look as good as the older stuff and if you are looking for an accurate telling of the king Arthur legends you have to look elsewhere, this is Disney telling the story of when Arthur was a kid.

Still the animation for all it's roughness works and it has a lot of character and there are a ton of fun moments,I liked the characters and the world, and the songs were catchy. This may not be Disney at it's best but it is still a good animated film and since I liked it as an adult I would assume most kids would love it and I am sorry I didn't see it years ago.

There is just one thing I am surprised a certain scene has not been parodied to death either on TV or the internet. In it Merlin seems to be telling Arthur he has no choice but to have sex with a squire. I am not kidding,he tells Arthur it is no good fighting the female squire who is forcing herself on him.  I know I am reading into a kids movie but watching it for the first time as an adult it is really strange and made me laugh because I just kept thinking about jokes I could make about this scene.

Oh and is it just me or was the wizard battle in this movie far more creative and exciting them the ones we got in the Harry Potter movies?  I am not joking,I know it was played mostly for slapstick comedy but when i think of two Wizards fighting the type of stuff that was happening in this movie is what pops into my head.  In Harry Potter they just pushed each other around and stood still firing bolts of light at each other. In this movie they turn into things, run around, and there is a real sense or energy and that they are being creative and using every spell they can think of to get the upper hand.  Again I am not joking I found this slapstick fight more creative and exciting then the battles between Wizards in the Harry Potter films.  This is the way Wizards should fight if you ask me.

If I had one complaint about the movie it would be that it sort of fizzles out at the end and doesn't have a real climax,Arthur gets the sword and that is it,the end.  Still I see that as a minor complaint and while this may not be Disney at it's best it's still better then ninety percent of the kids films out there so I say if you have kids in your house hold or are just a fan of classic Disney films give this movie a shot you may be surprised by how much you enjoy it.

I give it 7.5/10.

P.S Merlin in this movie kind of strikes me as what you would get if you combined the first and second Doctors into one person so that added to the movie's appeal for me.

That's great news, DrCrow! I'm glad to hear it.

Thanks it feels so good to be me again!  Just two days ago I had a break down because i went to the store with a list of things that I needed to buy to cook dinner and it took me almost an hour to do the shopping because the words on the list kept getting scrambled in my head, now I can type out this whole forum post without thinking about it in less then a minute.

Also I am no longer having random extreme mood swings and I can deal with it when things go wrong.

Also I can get at the facts in my head.

This feels great!

Ah, modern comics and their shitty efforts to make costumes more "realistic". I can imagine a better looking costume that achieves realism without sacrificing the aesthetics of the original costume.

I don't know I kind of like it.  Unlike alot of Superhero costumes it looks like something someone could make in real life with stuff they had in their closet or bought at a store and it looks like it would be practical in combat. Also it doesn't have those stupid boob socks that a lot of female superhero costumes have, those always bug me.  I think the cape should be a little bigger and maybe the boots should be blue or black but over all I like it.

Since I've been reading a lot of comics over the past couple of months, I thought I'd make a few posts about most of them and give my basic opinion on each of them.

Post #1: Spider-Girl #½-24 & Annual 1999

Before I begin, I'd just like to recount my own personal history involving this series.

To make a long story short, Ben Reilly was my Spider-Man growing up as a kid in the '90s and I was completely pissed off when he was re-retconned back into a clone, ignominously killed off, and re-replaced by Peter. In hindsight, I realize the Clone Saga was 70% crap and that Ben should never have been retconned into being the original Peter in the first place, but still, I was angry and disappointed that a character I sympathized with and enjoyed reading about was all but erased from existence as if he had never been (I'm still angry about it, to be perfectly honest, but that's another story for another time.).

Anyway, even though my Spider-Man was dead and dust filling someone's ashtray, I continued to read the books. While I'll admit they weren't all that bad -- at least not in the beginning -- they just didn't hold the same spark for me. The sudden, abrupt departure of too many regular artists at one time -- Mark Bagley, Sal Buscema, and Dan Jurgens -- also left me feeling as if I'd been picked up and dropped into a whole 'nother universe that was weird and strange to me.

Moving on, my dissatisfaction for the Spidey titles kicked into overdrive when two things happened: Norman Osborn became a poor man's Lex Luthor who was everywhere all the time and Aunt May was "resurrected". The latter development, in particular, left me feeling sick inside; that was when it fully sunk in that nothing that ever happened in comics mattered a damn because anything progressive -- anything that caused characters to actually grow and change -- that a creator could ever bring to the table was just going to be swept under the rug once another creator who hated it came along (I'm looking at you, Mr. John "The-Status-Quo-Is-God-Unless-I-Don't-Want-It-To-Be" Byrne.).

Suffice it to say, my status as a Spidey fan was pretty much dead at the time and I had all but given up reading the comics. Then I happened to see the comic above on the spinner rack of one of the local grocery stores.

As a typically sexist boy who thought girls were icky, I didn't read many comics focusing of superheroines. Truth be told, I probably wouldn't have bothered picking up the comic above save for one thing: the Ben Reilly suit. Yep, I bought the comic because of the suit Spider-Girl was wearing, a suit belonging to my Spider-Man, the Spider-Man the writers had decided to treat -- and dispose of -- like shit. My interest piqued, I just had to take a look through it.

Suffice it to say (again), Spider-Girl turned out to be the exact comic I needed to read at the time. There was no angsty bullshit about Osborns and Goblins and genetically engineered actresses, there was just a lot of action and humour and a respect for what had came before. Having re-read those comics now, at the point in my life where I am now surrounded by a bunch of deconstructed, decompressed garbage written for stupid man-children who like seeing their favourite characters derailed, assassinated, and raped, that opinion has only been reinforced a hundredfold.

tl;dr version: I love these comics -- I love the characters, I love the humour, and I love the lack of brutal violence, gore, and stupid decompression -- and I'm going to continue reading the series until the final issue. Then, if things are still running smoothly, I'm going to move on to the spinoff titles Amazing Spider-Girl and Spectacular Spider-Girl

You know it's funny I reada few of these when they first came out but I didn't keep up with it due to lack of funds and the local library stopped carrying them but I started collecting the reprints and you know what I have been having the exact same feelings about these books.

After the most recent movies and what has happened in the comics I had lost all interest in Spider-Man but now I love him again and I like Spider-Girl in her own right.  I like Spider-Man again and I really want a good Spider-Girl movie to come out at some point.

One thing I would change about the art work in the books if I were in charge is that May's hair is black and I would make her a redhead so she looks a little more like Mary Jane but that is just a minor note and down to personal taste.

As I said I am loving these books.

I finally got my meds and already the depression is going away and I can think clearly.

I can follow a list without getting lost!  I can be in a room with loud noise without getting a headache or a panic attack!  Oh and I can write a paragraph without getting lost and remember the correct spelling of words!

It's not perfect yet but this is just my first day back on them in two years and I feel like a new person!

I am happy and I can take care of myself,I can even see myself getting a life at some point and I think I can work towards my ultimate goal of becoming a history teacher!

I FEEL SO HAPPY I AM JUST BARELY HOLDING MYSELF BACK FROM LAUGHING RIGHT NOW!:)

The war would be more of a background set up thing then a source of major plots.  I figure after season one flashbacks wouldn't happen too often and it would be more there to set up the universe and give the captain and Vorta aid problems to work out in the gamma quadrant.  In fact the more I think about it the more I think I would make the Vorta female because we didn't see many of them in the past.

Oh and one thing that would also be dealt with would be the Vorta and the Jem'Hedar have to learn to live as real races without the founders telling them what to do or being cloned any more.  I mean they would have to relearn how to breed the way they did before the founders started clone them and find a sense of purpose and a way to run their races on their own.  I mean before they only existed to enforce the will of the Founders what do they do now?  That could lead to some interesting stories involving the Vorta character if you ask me.

Glad you liked most of my ideas and I like some of the other ideas you people have come up with too.

This is a fun game if you ask me.

Hey that sounds a lot like my good news of not reading a single Spider-Man comic since I figured out they were not going to undo One More day.  I have saved so much money that I have spent on old classic used comics like Spider-Girl since then.  Good times.  Or is that bad times?  I don't care all I know is bad writers and executives are not getting my money any more.

I found a copy of Microsoft 3D movie maker at the local thrift store for fifty cents!  This game was a huge part of my childhood because it came with my family's first computer but we lost it when we moved and I haven't been able to find a copy online for a price I could afford and then it was just sitting in the middle of a bunch of music CDs at the thrift store so I am very happy right now. This game holds a lot of nostalgia for me and I can't wait to fire it up.

Hows this for shameful.

I'm freaking brilliant. I have a BA, three Science certificates, am a decorated debater, mock-statesman, award winning author, and five time salesman of the month at Blockbuster video.

But when it was popular, I never ONCE won a game of "Words With Friends." Not once. Literally dozens and dozens of games. Not one. Not against my little cousins, not against old high school buddies, not against foreign people I befriended on Facebook just to play "Words with Friends" with. Not a single time.

The shame haunts me.

 Ouch!

That almost as bad as my losing a death match to my little sister.
