Cross fingers.

Yeah it didn't work:(  I'll just have to give this week a miss.

Thanks a bunch Frink.

If I could just bitch about one more thing.  I really with they would bring the highspeed lines down my road.  They are one mile away from my house but the local cable company refuses to bring then down that mile of road even though there are like fifty families that live on this road.  The cables have been one mile from my house for 13 years.  i am sorry to keep bitching and I know I can move if i want to but.  I can't right now and when it seems like everything out there requires a highspeed internet connection to work, well it's just frustraiting that the lines are so close and yet so far and that I can't move right now because there are no jobs.

I hate the modern world.

So you deleted the file twice and are mad at microsoft because the files gone?

Look I am sorry.  I know I am horrible person.  I made a mistake and I just wish there was a way to fix it.  I wasn't blaming them I was just saying it would be nice to have one because unlike you I am not perfect and some times I make a mistake.  Like when I delete the last season of Agents of Shield and by mistake delete the first episode of this season with the files and didn't notice until after it was gone.

Sorry I upset you.  I will not say anything else about it.

Darn it!

I recorded Agents of Shield last night on my computer(Because I don't have highspeed I have to use my computer since all DVRs require a highspeed internet connection these days.)because it is my little brother and sister's favorite show on TV right now but it comes on too late for them on a school night(Why can't they ever put the type of shows kids and teens like on Frriday,Saturday,or Sunday?)and the wait for the new season after last season's final has been killing them.  Any way like an idiot I hit the wrong buttons and deleted the video file from my hard drive so now they can't watch it!  i feel so stupid.

If anyone out there knows of a good free program that would give me a chance to recover the file or a way to find it on my computer without a program would you please tell me.  I have been using Google but so far all the programs I have found cost money that I don't have at the moment.

Sorry I know this thread is for bitching but I would really like some help with this, thank you.

Did you look in your Trash/Recycle Bin?

Yes I was an idiot and deleted it from there. If it was there there wouldn't be a problem because I could just restore it. That is why I feel like such an idiot.

You know for the $150 I paid for windows 7 you would think Microsoft could build in some sort of file recovery system.

Last web series/tv show seen
Time

I watched the first episode of a series I didn't even know was coming on,it came on right after Agents of Shield and normally I wouldn't give it a second look but it stared Ioan Gruffudd(And no don't ask me how you pronounce that name,it's Welsh so I have no idea)an actor I have been a big fan of since he did the series Hornblower.  He is very good so I will give anything he is in a shot.

The series was called Forever and I had not heard anything about it.  Any way it seems like a pretty good show with an interesting set up and some good actors led by a favorite of mine. It's about corner who can't die, every time he does he wake up in the Hudson river and he has no idea why. So in addition to the murder mystery you have flashbacks of his past life, and his dealings with a mystery figure who is stalking him and a son who look older then he is.  He uses what he has learned in 250 years of life to make very Sherlock Holmes like deductions. I would say over all i enjoyed it.

Still there is one little problem...

It feels like ABC executives are messing with this show behind the scenes and trying to force it to be more like Castle.  Let me explain why I think that. First of all the bits that feel like Castle feel like they are forced into the show and are given very little screen time and that don't feel like they are the ideas of the writers of the rest of the show so I am pretty sure they are force in by executives. networks love to do that to new shows, try to force them to be like other hit shows.

As to what felt like Castle(A series I gave up on a while ago due to it no longer being fun to watch and turning into a soap opera)well the title card is almost an exact rip off.  The shooting style and music are almost exactly the same(Except for one scene that I swear stole it's music from Sherlock for some reason)Then there is a female detective he works with who has the same body type, hair style, and dresses like Beckett on Castle. She even has a dead loved one who's ring she wears on a chain around her neck. Talk about a beat for beat rip off.

Still as I said Ioan Gruffudd is really good in the series and the rest of it was very well written and had a fun energy to it. Normally the ripp off elements would keep me from tuning in next week but as I said they were given very little screen time and one of my all time favorite shows(Fringe)stared out as a bad ripp off of The X Files but by the end of it's first season the net work executives at fox backed off and the writers were allowed to do their own thing and it became it's own program so hopefully the same will prove true here. So I am going to give this show till the end of the season I think to come out of Castle's shadow and become it's own show because as I said I thought the stuff in it that was good was very good.

I say it's worth sticking with if you can put up with the way network executives seem to tamper with new shows.

I give it 6.5/10.  I would rate it higher if it just didn't have those pesky ripp off elements to it. I really hope ABC lets the producers and writers drop those and they become a thing of the past because if they do and it doesn't go down the same path Castle did and become a soap opera then I think they will have a very good show on their hand.  The key will be to keep the focus on the Gruffudd character and his life and not spend too much time with the Beckett ripp off and to find their own style for shooting the show. If they can do that I will be giving this show an 8 or a 9.

As it stands it has promise that is being crush by the executives at ABC. if you can put up with that then I say give it a shot.

I don't normally add a post script to reviews I write but in this case I feel I should. This week Forever turned a major corner and I think it is well on it's way to being the series I hoped it would become.

It seems my hunch that the female detective being a clone of Beckett from Castle because ABC executives insisted on it has been proven true,I guess they got out of the way because this week she had her own personality, back story, and felt like her own character. She and Henry have developed their own working relationship and the series went along at brisk fun pace. A perfect balance was found between the present day case, the flashbacks, and the character interactions.

This show is taking off and I hope it continues down this path. In light of this I must change my review score. My one major complaint has been addressed and so I am giving this show an 8.5/10 and recommending it to anyone who enjoys mystery shows that feature a character with a twist. if that sounds like your cup of tea, please enjoy.

What do you think of this.

http://badassdigest.com/2014/09/22/theres-a-part-for-william-shatner-in-star-trek-3/

Personally it feels like a gimmick to try and draw older fans in to me.  I mean I thought having Spock in the new time line gave the character a little too much information about what was in their future but now Spock and Kirk?

I know Into Darkness was the highest grossing of the Star trek movies but I also know that for what it cost it Paramount was expecting to make more money off of it.  A movie has to make double it's budget to break even for the studio so with a budget of $185 million Into Darkness got past the break even point by a bit but I think for that amount of money they were expecting it to make more then it did and the suits know that it was bad word of mouth by fans that caused a drop off at the box office after the opening weekend and this is there way to try and get the fans back on board without having to change writers or how the films were shot.

Personally I had very little interest in this movie before and Shatner being in it doesn't make me any more likely to spend $12 to see it in theaters.  I will rent it when it comes out on video but Shatner being in a movie doesn't make it a must see for me and I am pretty sure there will not be that good of a character or plot reason for him to be there,it's just they want someone from the old crew and Nimoy has retired so they are giving Shatner a shot.

What do you think?

What do you think?

Personally I don't like censorship still I do prescreen the episodes before letting my little brother and sister watch them but I do that with most modern TV since now adays the amount of sex and violence you can show in an 8pm show rivals what was in R rated movies when I was a kid. I mean TV shows today can have graphic sex scenes and show people's heads being cut off or them becoming a puddle of goo. While I don't believe in censorship I do wish there were more shows that didn't resort to these tactics.

When i was a kid there were plenty of action adventure shows that either didn't kill people like MacGyver or cut away from the sex and the corps and just had them off screen, that doesn't seem to happen any more. I find it kind of sad because it seems like the choice is now between cartoons aimed at young children and what would get an R rating if it was a film back in the day, nothing in between.

I wish more modern shows would take the MASH approach and just let the actors' reaction to the bloody corps say it all instead of showing them. I miss old style action adventure and mystery shows that relied on good dialog and stories instead of how much violence and sex they could put on screen to keep viewers hooked.

While I don't think over all Doctor Who has reached the point other shows have and I still watch most episodes with my little brother and sister I will admit that there are a few episodes I don't watch with them and I can understand why some people will not let their kids watch it. I mean it does have violence,a kiss-o-gram,and cursing in it now and I would be lying if I said I didn't understand why some parents may not want their kids watching those things without them in the room or at all.

I don't want the show censored but I do think parents and others have a right to decide if they want their kids watching it and to say no. I still love the show but I can understand the problem. Does that make sense to anyone else?

Well, that explains the thread title.  As for the thread itself, and why we needed it, no one can explain that.

Sounds like a case for Mulder and Scully.

Will not be enough to solve this mystery. We will also need the team from Fringe and maybe Columbo to help sort this one out.

An absolute nightmare, in every possible way. I'm a big Kevin Smith fan, but this was just the lousiest piece of cinema I think I've ever seen. Kev needs to stop smoking pot and get more fresh air when he actually gets down to making a movie.

1/5 bongs.

Kevin Smith not smoking pot or being full of himself???

Now you are living in a fantasy world.

No, it's an idea almost as bad as starting a thread about paying for things with laserdisc audio.

Can someone please explain that thread to me because I still have no idea what it is going on about.

How do you pay for something with the audio, and why only audio from laserdiscs? Why not CD,DvDs,tapes,or BluRay discs?

What did I miss because I am completely confused.

pretty sure most American bars let minors in if they are accompanied by an adult.

 Really???

I am surprised by that.  I have only ever left Delaware on day trips to historic sites and had no idea it was legal to allow minors into a bar anywhere in the US since it isn't here.

That's interesting.

DrCrow, I with DominicCobb,  you don't need to worry about this.   It isn't worth it.  I don't think you needed to apologize to hotrod or ask the mods to delete this thread.   Just calm down and relax. I don't think you did anything wrong and I'll even bet those on the other side of this don't you did anything that bad.  Its all ok.   Because I think it would be best for you if this ended,  I am going to move on no longer discuss this matter.  I will take hotrod off ignore as well.

Lets please get back to normal everyone.

 Okay thanks a bunch guys.

I think I will take a few days off of this forum.

My question still stands, d_e.

 Please let's just drop it.

Please don't take people to task for defending a joke.

WTF? Did you even read my post? I was asking if d_e still considered me his friend.

Oh sorry. I misunderstood what you were asking.

Mods please delete this thread. I tried to create it to avoid conflict but it is doing nothing but causing conflict.

I now see that I was in the wrong and I shouldn't have started this thread as it is now seen as an attack on a fellow member of this site who did nothing to warrant it.

I do not wish for this to continue so please delete this thread.

By the way can anyone tell me who the mods are,I am sorry but even after all these months I have no idea which users are mods and which are not and I would like to PM this request to one of the mods so we can put this behind us.

Thank you for your help and again I am so sorry,I should not have attacked Hotrod in this way and he had every right to defend himself.

There I have removed Hotrod from my Ignore list and I am admitting that I was 100% wrong and Hotrod had every right to defend himself in my thread.

I am also asking the mods to delete that thread and I will admit I was being a baby by not laughing at Hotrod's post.  I should not have had a problem with it because I am supposed to be an adult. I am sorry I attack a fellow user without cause.

Please mods delete my thread and let's move on.

Hotrod again I can not say how sorry I am,I can see how you felt bullied and I am sorry I put you through that.  I had no right to have problem with your post and I didn't have any right to start a thread that could be seem as an attack on you or to try and tell you what to post in it. I was being a bully and was 100% in the wrong plain and simple and I hope you can forgive me and we can move on from here.

I don't think you steped out of line in creating that good news thread.   Don't worry about wrecking the forum.   You have not done that.  The forum is not wrecked, nor is it anywhere near close to being so.   I have been on this forum for over ten years and there have been much worse fights than this.   You don't need to leave the forum.  Don't worry so much about it.

 Okay thanks.

I guess I am just not used to this place,it seemed so friendly up until the point I complained about that post and started my own thread.

I guess maybe I did provoke Hotrod by creating it in response to his post so maybe I was being a bit of a bully since I am not a mod and I guess he saw it as my attacking him but that was not my intent.

Hotrod if you took it that way I am sorry,I didn't mean to attack you I was just trying to give myself an Ender a place to talk so that Ender wouldn't feel the need to attack you in the good news thread any more.

I am sorry for being childish and attacking Hotrod,I will take him off of my ignore list and read his posts from now on if that's what it takes to end this but please let's all put this conflict behind us.

I am sure Hotrod is a good person I should have had a thicker skin,I am sorry I attacked you Hotrod,I was completely wrong to complain about your post or start a thread that could be seen as an attack on you.

I was completely in the wrong.

Now everyone let's just move on and drop this issue, please I didn't mean for it to blow up like this.

that me every time I watch the scene in Star Trek V where Spock hands Sybok the gun.

Yeah the logical thing to do would be to shoot him in the leg or something and knock him out with a hypospray so he couldn't use his mind powers on everyone. it put the fewest lives at risk and it meant he didn't have to kill Sybok.  Still even if killing him was the only option since when has Spock ever had a problem with killing people in order to save lives?  "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few,or the one" after all.

I hear Nimoy almost didn't make the movie because that scene was so far out of character for Spock and that Shatner added the whole brother angel just to get him on board. Nimoy said he still felt it was out of character but at least he could play it as something that made some sort of sense for a human character to be doing,it just didn't make any sense for Spock to be the one doing it.
