This just proves he was a talentless filmmaker from the start
Jackson has not made a good film since Return of the King.
Yep and I liked these movies.
So what if he didn't transcribe the book and give the Dwarves nothing to do but being saved at the last minute by Gandalf? He stuck to the books for three movies and did three movies of his own thing, they are both good for different reasons so I am happy.
Also just because he didn't stick to the books or made some bad movies doesn't mean he has never had any talent as a film maker. At least he didn't just stick people on a couch and use shot reverse shot in every scene that wasn't an action scene. Oh and even if you don't like the 48fps 3D at least he had the guts to try something new to try and fix people's biggest complaint about 3D movies, you have to give him that.
Oh and you can't make a good movie if you have no talent, it doesn't happen. So Jackson's films may not be your cup of tea but I have seen real bad movies and let me tell you the Hobbit films and everything made by Jackson are nowhere near being bad films. Jacks knows how to use a camera so you can see what is going on, he knows how to light a scene, he knows how to put a film together so viewers can follow the plot, and he knows how to direct actors. All of those things take talent and I have seen tons of movies from directors who can't get even one of those things right.
So no these are far from being bad movies, let alone the products of someone who doesn't have any talent.
Is that Bruce Campbell????
At least it wasn't rated M for sex, like most fan fiction, those kids are all underage!
X-Men:Days of Future Past
It's no secret that I have had my issues with the X-men films in the past. I found First Class to just be average and the other movies were too focused on Wolverine flipping out and knifing people, so please bear that in mind. I didn't even plan on seeing this movie but I got a free rental at Redbox and there was nothing else there so I just got it out so I could rant at a bad movie, the only problem was not only is this not a bad movie, it's really good and may be the best film in the franchise.
I know I am shocked to. Wolverine is the star but for once he feels like a mature character and doesn't highjack the movie. All the other characters get enough screen time. The story is dramatic and dark while still being a fun superhero tale, it is very well cast and everyone plays their parts well, heck even the guy playing Nixon is pretty good and he isn't treated as a monster or a joke, How often does that happen in a major Hollywood movie?! We didn't even get that in Watchmen for crying out loud. This really is a character based movie where everything that happens is tied into the personal struggles of the characters and there are not any real villains, everyone thinks that they are either doing the right thing or the only thing they can do. Even the villain making the killer robots thinks it is his only choices, he is clearly nuts but he isn't the evil monster he could have been. Also this does a good job of tying together all of the films into a time line, I didn't think that could be done at this point.
After about a decade of sequels and prequels that just didn't pan out the end of this movie feels like the natural end for Fox's X-Men film franchise and I wanted to stand up a cheer at the end. For a film i was expecting to hate and a franchise I stopped caring about a long time ago that is huge.
I know some people may think I am crazy but I liked this a little better then GOTG, there is something I didn't expect to say about any X-Men film.
10/10.
I am sick of being alone all day every day, stuck out in the country because I have no money and can not drive. I have had five years of this with no end in sight.
Life is a bitch and then you die, I hope I don't live to see next christmas. I have had about all of this life that I can take.
I have seen that movie many many times but for some stupid reason when i see clips from that section on their own I always forget she is still alive and not a zombie, I have no idea why. I am just stupid that way:)

Like I give a shit.
I'm sure Ric knew I was kidding. If not, then I apologize. To him though, not to you. It's a forum. Think I care if you don't like me? Feel free to go fuck yourself, but don't feel obligated. It's all personal choice.
Naturally I understood you weren't serious and took no offense, but note that the best way of kidding involves being funny.
Okay so if I decided to pull a Christmas prank on you by sticking your mother's head on a spike would you see that as kidding or not kidding?
It still seems to be up on kickass torrent and my ISP doesn't give me any trouble with anything that I download from them with Utorrent.
I of course only download things that I have already paid for but I just need in a different format.

If this is accurate and Superman is the focus of the movie and it does continue where MOS left off I am suddenly interested in this movie.
I got the the end of Chuck.
Let's just say it ruined an otherwise perfect series for me and is not in keeping with the tone of the rest of the series and renders most of the major plot arcs of the series pointless. I have no idea what the producers and writers were thinking.
Too bad this series would be perfect without these final two episodes:(
0/10.
Believe me when I watch movies I watch them, I am a cinema snob and I pay attention to details like that and complain to the theater if the picture is slightly out of focus. When I pay $12 to see something once it had better not be out of focus or make all the characters look like Mr.Spock.

But what a lot of people don't seem to realize is that 3d copies are almost ALWAYS a bit brighter in order to compensate for the fact that 3d glasses have a slight tint to them. You can't compare a raw 3d screenshot to a 2d screenshot. To make the comparison fair, you'd need to send the 3d shot through a filter equivalent to viewing it through the 3d glasses. And I'd be willing to bet that if you do that, they will look awfully similar.
All I can say is, I saw GOTG several times at the cinema in 2D and 3D and as soon as I played the 2DBR I knew it wasn't right (As I said much earlier in the thread). The 3D rip I've just done looks more like the film I saw (It still doesn't look as good as I remember though). Everyone else can make up their own minds.
Yeah I only saw it in 2D and the angle of the shots is different on the Bluray and the skin of the actors did not have that stupid greenish tint and it didn't look like everyone was standing in front of a pitch black background. There is no way I am paying $25 for that.
Ryan McAvoy said:
The green tint isn't horrendous I agree but it is there. However as I've previously posted, the darkness of the 2D image that is a real problem too.
Okay here we go (I've captured mostly stuff I've shown earlier in the thread)...
^ Yep the green tint is gone and zero in on Rocket's right-eye (His right) to see the under exposure.
^ The Underexposure is dramaticlly obvious in this shot. Also the wierdly crushed teal shadows are much less bad. They are still a little odd in the bottom right corner though.
^ Granted this is supposed to be a dark shot but on the 3D capture the detail runs right into the darkest shadows (It's all gone in the dark 2D transfer). Also yay iMAX!
^ Lastly, the dark image is interfering with the story IMO. I can barely make out the emotion on Rocket's face. However the 3D transfer frequently has a black bar down the left hand side in the non-iMAX shots.
FYI: Click images ^ to see in full HD. I ripped both with DVDFab and captured a shots with VLC. Also these might not be the exact same frame but I tried.
Thanks for that. Money is tight for me right now and there is no way I would be happy with paying full price for that. I notice those type of details and they bug me to death, it's one of the reasons I can't stand colour versions of black and white movies, thanks again. It's too bad Disney screwed this up so badly.

Why isn't there a standalone BD player that can play 3D discs back in 2d? Would solve a lot of problems.
Yeah it sure would. Instead I'll have to see if I can rip it, talk about a pain in the neck.
doubleofive said:
Um, DrCrow, I'm pretty sure the things you just flipped out about are because my friend took pictures of his TV in a dark room.
However:
These are direct from my just purchased discs. Check out not only the tint (that you can't tell if you're watching the movie without comparing them like this), but there's a lens flare on the 2D version. Very interesting stuff. I'm hoping that James Gunn will comment on this on Twitter.
Thanks for the heads up Harmy, I was able to play my 3D disc just using my external Blu-ray drive and the cheap Blu-ray software I bought for my Mac. Fantastic.
Both of the faces on the 2D version have a greenish tint to them like Spock's face on Star Trek, also the picture is fuzzy. I will buy the DvD used at some point and when the 3D bluray comes down in price try ripping it. For a release that all the stores in my area are charging $25 for this is just insane. I saw it in 2D in theaters and it did not have that tint, there is no reason they couldn't put that print on the Bluray.
I wish this would happen.

I will not list every time I have heard it but it seems like on every tv show or movie where a female character has a dead mother at some point someone always makes the remark that she looks just like her mother. What is worse is a lot of times when we finally see the mother in a flashback or a photo the actress playing the mother looks nothing like the actress playing the daughter, so not only is the statement cliched but it is also untrue.
I find it worse when they look exactly like their mother, except with a slightly different shade of hair color.
That bugs me too since it rarely happens in real life but at least the line is true in that case.
Oh and if you add this into the mix it gets even more interesting. http://screenrant.com/marvel-spider-man-movie-casting-actor-garfield-maguire/

I feel like I'm developing personal problems of an alcohol/drug related nature. It hasn't caused any problems of a "concrete" nature, like no job loss or anything like that. And I don't do any hard drugs and I don't get shitfaced drunk. But I'm always drinking and I always have a joint or something similar going except when I'm actually at work. And while the weed itself might not be all that horrible for me, I feel like the frequency of consumption is damaging me mentally. And the same with drinking. I'm never "drunk" but I'm always buzzed. Every day, the MOMENT I wake up, which is a nightmare in and of itself (not necessarily hung over, just totally windblown and lifeless feeling), the moment I open my eyes and get out of bed I immediately smoke some weed, and I mean immediately. Then I drink a couple beers then smoke some more. I go about my day, and literally only an hour or so later I'll be smoking again. Whenever I go in to work, I smoke and have a beer right before I go in. On my 15 minute break I smoke. On my lunch break I smoke and drink some more. On my last 15 minute, you guessed it, I smoke. Then guess what I do after work? Drink and smoke. And record music and play guitar, which is positive enough but I am ALWAYS shitfaced when I'm doing it. I'm never coherent when I'm recording. I only drink 2 or 3 beers at a time, but I drink those 2 or 3 beers very constantly and every few hours or so. And I smoke weed constantly all day and am very stoned at all times, until I go to sleep. And I often wake in the middle of the night and smoke a little bit to go back to sleep. Mentally it's wearing me out, and I'm becoming very depressed and introverted. Physically I feel like I'm just running out of steam, out of energy. I don't feel tired exactly, just sortof rundown. I still care very much about other people's wellbeing and my friends, the problem is I'm getting to where I don't care at all about myself, only others.
I don't really know why I'm sharing this with you guys, I just wanted to vent a little bit. I'm not really sure what to do about it. Can you call a guy who never gets drunk bit is ALWAYS buzzed an alcoholic? Can you call a guy who never does drugs but is never NOT smoking weed a drug addict? I don't know the answers to that, but I can tell you this lifestyle is wearing me out and I'm losing steam.
Just venting. I know there isn't anything anyone here can say or do to help, so feel free to ignore it and bitch about something else. :P
Ouch.
I went through something like this with sleeping pills for a few months before I tried to kill myself, all I can say is do what I wish I had done, get help and get this stuff out of your house. Break free of this before it does become a big problem.
I'll be praying for you.
Okay I love the show and I always will and it is in my top ten list but I just saw the final and am I the only one who hates it?
I mean what was the point of spending five years watching Sarah's character arc if they were just going to completely reset it at the last minute. This series was pure fun and then out of left field for no truly good reason they pull the darkest most depressing ending you could ever give a Tv show. There is no sense of hope or that anything the characters did maters. I have not seen the reset button pushed this badly since Voyager did it every week when i was a kid. This is like a TV version of One More day, it's stupid, pointless, and depressing and it makes the inter series pointless. Chuck could have been a perfect show but then the writers decided to try and be dark and edgy and they ruined the whole story. As I said I love the show but I am not sure I will ever watch it again because the whole story feels pointless now since there was no pay off and Sarah was not allowed to grow as a character.
From what I can tell Chuck only stayed on the air as long as it did because of the fans so why did the writers decide to stab the fanbase in the back like this? I am not saying everything had to be perfect and happy but this ending just leaves us with no hope. I mean we have seen what happens when Chuck loses Sarah before so now he spends the rest of his life as a hopeless drunk living on his sister's couch? Sarah just goes back to being heartless spy because she doesn't remember a thing? Why did we even watch her grow if she was just going to forget it all, what was the point?
As far as I can tell Chuck would have been much better off if Sarah had never come into his life since he wouldn't be a depressed drunk and he would have gotten the manager's job and he most likely would have found someone else at some point who wouldn't have their mind wiped.
I now feel like the whole series went from being about watching a group of people become better people to being about a group of people having their lives ruined. It went from being upbeat to being the single most depressing show in the history of TV.
As I said I still love the show and I will tell people to watch it but this final was so awful I don't think I will ever watch the show again. The series final is up there with One More Day and Abrams Star Trek movies as my most hated plot lines that killed something I loved. I can't believe it ended this way.
Chuck is one of the all time greats, because only the greats can fall this far, it's just a shame when you have to site there and watch them fall.
I'm sorry but I just don't understand what the point of all the angst that was in this show was if all of Sarah's character growth was undone and the pay off to it is undo in the last episode of the show. It just makes the whole story feel like a waist of time. So for me at least Chuck was perfect right up until the last two episodes and then they destroyed the whole story. If there is one show that I would love to see a follow up Tv movie done of that undoes the series final it's Chuck.
The ending of a story hasn't left me feeling this depressed since Mass Effect 3 and sadly there isn't a fan made ending that fixes this one.

The last comic I read was the three-part miniseries Babylon 5: In Valen's Name by DC Comics.
Basically, the miniseries has two interlocking stories: the first is about the crew of the Babylon 5 station finding the decaying remnants of the Babylon 4 station and encountering a hostile alien species with apparent ties to B4, the second is about what happened to Jeffrey Sinclair after he travelled back into the past and became Valen.
Basically, I liked it; the story was good and so was the art. The only bad thing I have to say about it is that it left me with a desire to read more Babylon 5 comics, a desire I can't satisfy as there virtually aren't any other B5 comics beyond DC's main series, and the artwork in those comics is so cringe-inducingly awful that I couldn't get through the first storyline.
I did not know this existed and now I must own it.

Sony hack: Next Bond movie is WAY over budget
By Jose Pagliery @Jose_Pagliery December 10, 2014: 8:24 PM ET
NEW YORK (CNNMoney)The next James Bond movie, "Spectre," is massively over budget and on track to be one of the most expensive films ever made, costing more than $300 million.
That's according to internal memos from the president of MGM Studios. Sony Pictures is the distribution partner for the 24th Bond film. CNNMoney is reviewing thousands of documents leaked online by hackers who broke into Sony.
MGM president Jonathan Glickman sent emails in early November explaining how the studio is scrambling to cut costs.
He says the current budget "sits in the mid $300Ms," but the studio has to drastically cut back to $250 million. And the shooting period already costs $50 million more than the previous film, "Skyfall."
SPOILER WARNING!
His suggestions show some Hollywood tricks:
- Villa in Rome? It's a nighttime scene, so try doing it in London instead.
- There's fighting on a train! Again! But use fewer carriages -- three instead of four.
- Forget the dramatic finale in the rain. It'll lower the cost of visual/special effects.
- Earn an extra $6 million by showing "the more modern aspects" of Mexico to maximize "the Mexican incentive." (The makers of Spectre are getting paid to film there.)
"We recognize that this movie needs to build on the past few films - and there are expectations we must meet for the audience. Still, we must find further cuts," Glickman says. "This is not about 'nickel and diming' the production."
Barbara Broccoli, the producer (and heiress to the Bond empire), fights back -- saying that she "cannot find the cemetery or villa in the UK" and refuses to cut down the number of trains.
Later, Sony Pictures co-chairman Amy Pascal, looped in on all of this, sends a note directly to MGM's president, saying: "It's insane and you know with no script this movie is gonna go overbudget."
It's a rare look at the inner workings of Hollywood.
On the positive side for the studio, though, the major product placement deal struck with Heineken is helping reduce the budget, Glickman says.
The emails also show that director Sam Mendes wants to cast Andrew Scott (who plays villain Dr. Moriarty in the Sherlock TV show) as Bond's intelligence agency boss, "C." And MGM can afford it, because they can pay Scott $1 million less than they were going to pay Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave).
A few more tidbits: There's a "lesbian bad lady." And yes, we will meet Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the evil genius behind the creepy, secret transnational organization SPECTRE.
Oh great now the whole movie is spoiled:(
I am guessing this will be the last Bond movie after it tanks and take MGM with it. It's the new heaven's gate. Too bad.
