Uncle Owen's penchant for violence is well known. Isn't there already a thread for this?:

DiCaprio looks like a genius for turning down shit like episodes II and III.
DiCaprio knows how to chose a script - and those scripts were not worth choosing.
However, in a world where the PT and Anakin's character are written well, I suggest Leo would be a perfect choice.
I was about to make a joke about Frink's mom that would explain his recent absence, but it would have been extremely crude. Gimme some more time, I will come up with something else.
Obi-Wan's lying and then making excuses for it instead of coming clean actually makes a lot of sense in the context of the cut "he would have told you if I had let him" Yoda line. So really the problem lies in there.
Either way that lie was a pretty big deal and honestly Luke should have been pissed.
The fact that Leia loses her planet is extremely under used in her characterization. For ANH, that's okay or whatever, because it's a standalone fantasy fun adventure film. We don't want a moping Princess being saved. But still. In ESB, there is no mention, same with ROTJ. Unfortunate. (On a similar note some people criticize Luke's lack of reaction to his family's death, but I think the fact that it provokes him to join the rebellion is about enough.)
There are also a large number of character and story problems with ROTJ, but these have been discussed at length.
As well, the acting isn't perfect. I have arguments with my friends often about what is the best film trilogy and I always say the OT, but I always have to concede acting to stuff like LOTR, The Godfather, The Dark Knight, etc.
Frink, tell us where your 30,000th post will be.
Oh wait.
I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about.
Do we really think darklordoftech is Sam? He seems way too normal.
I have a question for you, darklordoftech: can you rate Hayden Christensen's attractiveness on a scale of 1 to 10?

I don't know 7 people on this picture, is that normal, or am I just getting old?
In fairness, six of them aren't even popular anymore.
And none of them still work for Disney. I get that pictures like these are jokes, but seriously, this would never happen. People who think that it would are forgetting all the successful and mature Disney franchises that don't feature any teen "stars" (POTC, Avengers, etc).
^Crap, yeah, forgot about that. Well, at that time I hadn't seen it again. And it was really Anchorhead's glowing review that compelled me to post. I'm glad you liked it, too. Why can't more people be like us?
^I'm glad someone else likes the film. I saw an advanced screening with a friend of mine about a month and a half ago, and we both loved it. I was really surprised when the reviews came in. I've caught the film again with my girlfriend. She enjoyed it, and I did too. The second time around I noticed some of the dialogue and characterization left a little to be desired, but just some. I still felt it was a really good movie, completely underrated and undeserving of the negative reaction it has gotten.
Sounds to me like a complete EU reboot is in the works.
I do feel bad for him because I can imagine how he would have felt, but I had to laugh, especially when he says he's going to wing it and all of a sudden you see a bunch of people in the audience take out their phones/cameras.
Great ideas Ryan!
TCM is literally the best channel of all time.

I personally find it interesting for its artsy techniques and some interesting discussions. To me it's like if 2001 was talky and employed black-and-white footage frequently.
The fantasies were enough to keep me intrigued.
I was wondering what the remake was like. The only movie I've seen George Clooney in was O Brother Where Art Thou, and he had a southern accent there so I can't really judge his acting.
I have plenty of classics left to see, though.
Mainly, The Seventh Seal, The Seven Samurai/Magnificent Seven, Lady Eve, Vertigo, and Psycho, to name just a few.
I'll find time soon.
Yeah I enjoy that stuff too - I still love the movie, just wouldn't name it as one of my top favorites.
George Clooney is a fairly high quality actor, he's not the problem with the remake, he's done some great stuff (namely The Descendants, Michael Clayton, Syrianna, amongst others).
You have time to see the classics, don't worry about that. I've gotten nearly to the point where I've run out, or at least I have to look really hard now. It's fulfilling but also a little disappointing. I loved it when I was really young (like 6 or something) and I watched my first Oscars and I realized that there were a ton of amazing movies out there that I'll get to watch at some point.
The Seventh Seal and Seven Samurai are two of my favorites, Magnificent Seven is great too but not really at the same level. Lady Eve's great, check out Sullivan's Travels too if you haven't. Vertigo and Psycho are amazing, of course, my favorite Hitchcock films. I'm actually slowly working on seeing all his films (LMS The Lodger). Rear Window's up there too, make sure you see that if you haven't.

For the record, a few of my favorite films...
The Third Man (1949)
Solaris (1972)
Metropolis (1927)
Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Theatrical Cut) (1977)
Blade Runner (Workprint) (1982)
Citizen Kane (1941)
Jaws (1975)
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
… and I'm thirteen.
It's a question of taste, not age.
Yay this guy! I'm 18 now but I've been appreciating classics since I was much younger, it's kind of annoying actually when people assume teens have bad taste.
I love all those movies by the way. Solaris is probably my least favorite though, too long. And that's not a critique I throw around often, I freaking love every minute of 2001, for example, but I find Solaris to be simply too long for its own good. The remake is much shorter, but, ultimately, much worse for entirely different reasons.
Not sure what you can accomplish FX wise, but I feel it would make sense right after the Battle of Hoth, right after Luke waves at the Falcon.
I've thought of how to condense the OT and this is exactly what I had come up with. I'll be interested to see what you come up with. And don't be afraid to make the runtime closer to three hours, there's a lot of plot here, trimming scenes too much will make the pacing choppy. Besides, with such a grand story a epic length is appropriate.
^Actually 5/9 are original. And another is an adaptation.
Interstellar will easily be the best of the bunch. Other than that, Transcendence, Godzilla, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes could all end up pretty good. Everything else will likely suck.
I always saw the line as meaning all of those things at once, Mielr and Anchorhead. That's why it's such a great line - it works on so many levels.
And for what it's worth, whenever I respond to "I love you" with "I know," it usually gets laughs (and not from people who would know that's a reference).
No to the OP's question and to Frink's.
Wait why are people all of a sudden wondering if they're socks? Shouldn't they know? And how could any one be a sock, isn't that illegal now? I'm confused. Wait, am I a sock?
Also, part of me really hopes that Biff was Jetrell Fo, just because that would probably mean that Jetrell Fo is actually being intentionally funny in the Bring Back Ric thread (as that would mean he actually has a sense of humor) instead of the seemingly unintentional laugh riot that he's making.
Please don't compare The Hobbit films to the PT. Yeah there's more CGI and intense action scenes, but at least there's location shooting, and, most importantly, good acting and dialogue.
