What kind of Star Wars Fan are you?
Time

I take issue with that comic. They depict the OT purist to someone who cannot accept change. We should all know why that is extremely reductive, and not even necessarily true. I don't mind change, I'm the type of guy who could care less if a film adaptation ignores the source material entirely. It's just that the original versions should be available, if for nothing else than historical purposes. Also the changes are dumb (note how we're the type of fans who most enjoy fan edits).

Star Wars: Episode VII to be directed by J.J. Abrams **NON SPOILER THREAD**
Time

Does it matter whether it's 30 or 40 years? They never mention time difference between entries in the films. Iger saying it's 30 years basically just establishes that the returning characters will be played by their respective actors (rather than being re-casted, which some thought was a possibility at the time of the trilogy's announcement).

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Another Star Wars Blu-ray release would make money to justify its creation even if no one knows what version's on it. Knowledge that the OOT is on it in 4K could only add to that.

The only reason it hasn't happened is because, pre 2012, Lucas was in charge of things. I suppose now the hurdle is that 20th Century Fox owns the films but Disney owns Star Wars. Don't think they haven't talked about this, though. And whether or not the OOT is included (and at this point I don't see why it wouldn't be), you can probably bet on a new set of Star Wars Blu-rays in Q4 of 2015.
