I’m sure they already had the Kylo model around for certain stunts and scenes anyway, likely 3D scanned from Driver in costume, even.

Not that I don’t agree, but damned if some of this stuff isn’t getting nearly seamless.

Yep. Also figure they wanted to keep the performance as Driver’s, not someone else (I know it might seem silly for a small shot but still). Not to mention with Gleeson in the shot they’d have to do some compositing anyway to put in a double.

Fact of the matter is, it’s practically impossible to tell that it’s digital, so I’m not sure who really cares.

I’m sure the CGI is better in ROTS than AOTC, I just didn’t know it was that bad.

I was about to mention the CG R2, but after reexamination, it doesn’t seem that bad.

CG R2 is painfully obvious every time he rears (swivels) his ugly head.

Somehow I noticed CG R2 immediately in TFA which I initially thought meant rough CGI but comparing with the PT it’s not even close. TFA looks practically photo real (I think it’s probably just the movement that’s not quite Kenny Baker perfect and thus feeling a bit off and CG).

It’s kind of crazy going through the movie and literally being able to see all the seams. Don’t know if that’s because I’m more educated on how much CG is there, if I’m just seeing different things with new viewing, if it’s just dating poorly, or some combination.

I will say that image only lasts for a few frames (and actually if you go further in just that shot you’ll see CG that holds up much better). Obviously they must have figured it was brief enough to not notice but still, it’s terrible!

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)
Time

Don’t know if this has ever been noticed before (if so I was never aware), but I’ve just discovered a visual change on the blu-ray for ROTS: added moss on the roof of Yoda and co.'s platform on Kashyyyk. I just happened to notice this so my guess is there are probably a few more small alterations like this.

Also, I think the DVD is cropped ever so slightly. But I bet that’s been noticed already.

^ Same here, although Han looks oddly dopey and they shouldn’t put Luke on any posters for this movie.

Disagree. His shadow looms over the entire film (as does Vader’s but to a lesser extent). So you’ll see both have been rendered quite aptly looming over everything, but it’s only a vague impression.

Amazing poster by the way.

Yeah, it’s funny that computers aren’t a specialty thing anymore.

We joke about how “old folks” don’t know how to use their computers, but I think we’re raising a generation that uses them daily and doesn’t know the first thing about how they work. They’re like cars: in the early days of the automobile, to own and run one, you had to know how to tinker with it and make it work and fix and replace components, and then the car became commonplace for the masses and less and less people knew what to tinker with and how.

The majority of people want something they can just boot up and go with, which is why tablets are so popular.

That’s pretty much what I’m saying. But I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. We live in a world with so much tech that’s impossible for everyone to know everything about everything they use. And they really shouldn’t have to. Just as cars became popular and easy because more people need transportation than just those who know how transportation works, so have computers become easy.

For me, I don’t see any need to learn how to tinker with my computer. It’s not really going to help me in my future employment. If my computer breaks down, I have friends and the internet to help me. I don’t know the ins and outs but I still need a computer for a great many things, and Macs do all those things efficiently. There’s not much more I could ask for.

Random Pictures and Gifs (now with winning!) [NSFW]

I find the Mac vs PC debate often pretty tedious. They’re for different types of people, looking for different things in their computers.

When people try to tell me why their PC is better than my Mac, it’s pretty pointless. CPU motherboard, none of that shit means anything to me. In my experience, Macs are fast and functional and simple and make sense. That’s all I want.

Same goes for cars. I’m not a car person and have no desire to be. My car was cheap and has good gas mileage. That’s literally all I care about. Don’t know how much horsepower or what kind of engine it has and really don’t care if I never find out.

Finding Dory 8/10

The trailers made it look pretty terrible but I was shocked at how good it was! It still did follow the same formula as the first and had some replaced voice actors it was still really good. Check it out!

Very Exicted to check this out! I thought the trailers did look terrible also but the reviews seem promising 😃

Would you say it’s better than Monsters University ? (which I happened to enjoy a fair bit)

Objectively so.

Fuck off

Ha-ha, I win.

Finding Dory (2016) - 8/10

Started slow but ended up being really solid. It was no Toy Story 2, but very enjoyable nevertheless.

Agreed.
