Returns is definitely more interesting than its predecessor, but still nothing spectacular. 8/10

If you haven’t gotten your Philip Glass fill yet, you have no idea what you’re missing. This is a great place to start.
Well…
um, how about that Batman Returns then?
It is a really quite average and overrated movie when you go back and watch it again. 7/10
I don’t think you can really judge the color by that image. Looks like someone left the lights on.
I mean, it is a fantasy adventure so there is a bit of leeway in quickly promoting the heroes. Still, little ridiculous that Han and Lando became generals in ROTJ but it took Leia until TFA.
I think what’s confusing us is that we all find the new poster to be more, not less, Star Warsy than previous Rogue One posters released.
And if you mean in comparison to posters for previous movies, well, it’s in the exact same vain. Helmets, super weapon, and a character montage. So why don’t you find it Star Wars y?
No lightsabers.
Music is probably the most subjective medium. I get where you’re coming from Haseo because I feel the same way about movies (I can watch every genre and don’t get people who can’t). But with music, I just can’t do it.
I have a lot of friends that are into metal and death metal. I have nothing against it, in fact I tried to get into it. Didn’t work. Honestly very annoying to listen to. There’s some basic metal I don’t mind, but it’s just not my thing.
I just don’t really care about music that much. If I’m going to listen to new stuff, I’ll do it in a genre I like.
Also ROTS has zero soul.
Maybe this hypothetical personal was so distracted by the amazing acting that they didn’t realize the plot was nonsensical, or vice versa.
Even so, if that amazing element caused the person to really like the movie, they shouldn’t begin to hate it because of a less good aspect they didn’t notice. No film is perfect, there’s always going to be something that could have been done better. But what’s ultimately the most important is your experience with the film and how you felt about it. Just because a film has issues doesn’t mean you have to dislike it.
Jones way too beautiful
If you feel that away about her I can only imagine how you feel about Natalie Portman. Also what is too beautiful in this universe when every main character say for Finn (who isn’t even that bad looking) is attractive? I don’t understand you.
Boyega’s a very good looking dude.
Sure, plot holes and such can be revealed and change your perspective. But if you’ve watched the film and liked it, then somebody says they thought the acting was bad and the story was stupid, why would that change your opinion? If you watched and liked the movie, then those gripes obviously don’t apply for you. Why take someone’s experience with a film over your own?
Exactly.
I wish Boyhood was a universally beloved masterpiece instead of a polarizing film. I’m now reluctant to revisit it, when some people consider it the worst film of 2014.
As per usual, you make no sense.
First of all, most people do consider it a masterpiece. It’s not all that polarizing. Certainly it has its detractors, but they are a minority. Anyone calling it the worst film of 2014 is simply doing so out of hyperbole.
Second of all, didn’t you like the film when you first saw it?

Do you really think the film is so terrible as to be “indefensible” just because Red Letter Media didn’t like it?
How is it that Rogue One got a better poster than TFA?
The title is “Perceived Effects of Moral Choice in Video Games on Gamers.”
You should watch HBO’s Westworld.

Jesus, why did I read that.
But hey it’s the Internet so I guess I can just link someone’s opinion so I don’t need come up with one myself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8g9cJ5WKZeU
The article I posted was expanding upon many of the things I had been saying in this exact thread.
That video? Who knows, I have no interest in watching it.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) – 4/4
It’s really pretty great. Thrilling, mysterious, carried by likable and compelling characters played by great actors, and I’ll just say that the twist at the end is wonderfully crafted.
(I’ve decided to adopt Ebert’s 4 star scale, because I’ve always taken a liking to it, and I started to realize how dumb it is to use letter grades.)
Yeah, letters are so much dumber than stars.
The letter grading system is based on a percentage system that doesn’t make sense when used outside of school grade context.
That makes even less sense. A four star system is just a percentage system with less detail.
This is true, in a way. Yes, the 4-star scale is just a strict set of percentages, the same way a 10-star scale is, only with less variation. But you’re looking at it the wrong way in comparison to the letter grade system.
The letter grades, when used outside a school grading context, are convoluted.
In the 4-star, 1/4=25%, 2/4=50%, 3/4=75%, and 4/4=100%. This is proper, even scaling.
In the letter grades, A=90–100%, B=80–89%, C=70–79%, D=60–69%, and F=0–59%. This makes C the midpoint, or average; but that means that average is 70–79%, and that’s just stupid. 50–59% is the midsection where average is. It’s middle ground; nothing special, but not bad. 70–79% is good, not average.
See I disagree, which is why I adopted the letter grades. 70-79 will always be middle ground to me.
Which I why when I did the 10 scale I used to regularly be ragged on for rating things too highly. But something like a 5/10 is to me never something that’d I’d want to watch, it’s plain bad (though not as bad as 1-4 - see the problem with this scale being there’s too much specificity for the bad stuff when it should all just be F). Anyway that’s just me.
Nope
I actually don’t mind teal/orange.
Couple grades that tend to annoy me: bleach bypass
and really green, almost sickly
As for BD’s with grading I guess Aliens has that sort of green look though I don’t own it. The Raiders BD has a gold cast but it actually looks pretty great I think.
You and imperialscum are two much alike.
You talking to yourself?
It’s a half-hour non-serialized kids show driven by mostly action (basically never character) so I guess that’s to be expected.
I find complaints like these are usually made by people that either never watched the series or never made it passed the first season.
The first couple of seasons, especially the first, are all over the place in terms of when they take place in the timeline. But beginning around season three they really started to focus on keeping the series on a linear path through the war.
Also, the series is packed with character development. And it’s not just focused on the main characters.
We see a batch of clones from their first assignment through to the last days of the war.
Ahsoka throughout the entire series continued to grow and mature as the series went.
Even the villains were never stagnant but continued to grow and evolve as time passed. From Ventress to Maul and Savage, they all got their own story arcs devoted to them. Even a character like Hondo saw some growth throughout the series.
So I find claims that the series was non-serialized and lacked character growth to be outright laughable.
I have seen every single episode (and recently - all last year). Just because there was character growth and development doesn’t make the show character driven. Just because there were arcs doesn’t make the show non-serialized.
I’m not saying the show was completely lacking in character progression but it’s hard to care about them in the same way that you do about the Rebels group even (a core set of characters in every episode and much more serialized).
Don’t know what it says but pretty much all my favorite episodes are the clone-centric ones. They always nailed that.

Sounds like complete BS to me. I stopped reading that after mentioning things like “white privilege”. Am I the only one who things that people who are obsessed with things like diversity and “positive discrimination” are the biggest racists out there?
Yeah like Frink said it’s too bad you’re not because that’s the real BS. If only people like you would fucking get over yourself and actually listen to what people promoting diversity have to say, maybe this internet would be a less shitty place.
108 pages? Who in their right minds would spend the time to read this?
Actually, better question: Who in their right mind would think anybody in their right mind would even consider reading this?
No one. Which is why they made this movie instead: http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/The-Prequels-Strike-Back-A-Fans-Journey/id/51336
Honestly - some of you are insensitive assholes… Sonny Landham (Predator 1987, Action Jackson 1988) tragically loses his legs and all you care about is “debunking” it. Welcome to the fucking internet, I guess. It makes me a little ashamed to be a part of this “community”. I wish Sonny Landham would fucking kick your asses (but sadly he no longer can).
Anyway Haraldo23 I think what you did was commendable. By the way, my family and I are very close with Wallace Shawn (Princess Bride 1987, Clueless 1995)and the entire Shawn family - recently he lost all of his teeth and his winter jacket (Lands’ End 199.95) in a tragic Snowmobile accident. I’m in the process of setting up a GoFundMe on behalf of his family as we speak. We hope to raise enough to cover the expensive dental work and go some ways towards replacing the coat. Anyway pls send me 15 dollars directly and no I don’t answer emails (too busy sorry).
Good point about the jacket. I think what we’re all forgetting here is that if Sonny lost his legs he must have lost his jeans (Levi’s 59.50) and boots (Timberland 189.99) as well. And socks too now that I think of it (Hanes 13.99 for 6 pack which he will have to replace completely now that he has lost a pair). A true tragedy.

He said the diversity, no matter why or how, is a good thing. And when he says “in a weird way I think Star Wars has always been immune to the whole ‘race and gender’ thing.”, He’s right. Kids of all colors and races have always loved Star Wars despite the mostly white cast. He’s not saying "All the characters should be white and diversity is stupid."
And in the “sex” part, he’s clearly talking about romance.
I don’t see what there is to be angry about.
The article isn’t saying he isn’t saying those things. It’s deeper than that. Plinkett says that no kid cares about diversity and the article proves him wrong. As for the sex the article points out the complaint is simply bizarre and notes the hypocrisy in wishing TFA was closer to the OT in this regard.
And I don’t think anyone is angry?
