Well, in fairness to him, he really only re-edited it once, which is his preferred “director’s cut”.
Since the theatrical version had to be rushed into theaters to save Columbia from Bankruptcy, Spielberg didn’t have time to shoot everything and so he requested extra money the next year to finish his cut.As for the third “special edition” cut with the footage from inside the ship, Spielberg was 100% against it from the beginning, but the studio would not give him money for his cut unless he agreed to do it.
You’ve got it a little backwards. The special edition was second, and the director’s cut was third. All three have gotten proper home video releases of course, showing it’s actually not that hard to include multiple versions of a film in one set (there is however a TV cut I believe that’s basically the theatrical and SE put together that’s never gotten a true release).
I’m personally hoping it’s the director’s cut that goes in theaters as it’s sort of the best of both worlds in terms of theatrical vs. SE (though I’ve still never seen the SE - Spielberg said the Mothership’s interior wasn’t meant to be seen and that sounded about right to me).
There are some doubts being expressed as to the letter’s authenticity.
Most 9 year olds aren’t that dumb (grammatically, not politically - politically there are adults that dumb).
Everyone has an opinion on this transgender/military issue, when I suspect that .01% of people actually know anything about it. I certainly don’t know anything about it. I’ve never known a transgender soldier. I don’t know how successful or unsuccessful they have been in the military compared to other enlistees. I don’t know how much they have cost the military compared to other soldiers. I don’t know how much they request medical care related to their status. I don’t know their rate of mental stability compared with other military personnel, etc. etc. Such numbers might reveal that it’s an issue, or they might reveal that it isn’t. So whereas everyone (including, I suspect, Trump) has formed and stated their final opinion with utter conviction, I prefer to wait until some informative data is made available. As it is, I think most people have made their decision already, along party or religious lines.

Yeah party leadership is a bit different over here but there are sort of faces of the party, if you will, that help campaign for others and are sort of the more visible voices leading the charge. These will undoubtedly be Bernie, Warren, etc., but they only help so much as to raise awareness for and promote other candidates/the party strategy.

The originals are some of my favorites. They did a smart thing with the new ones to base them off the sequels, rather than the original. The new trilogy is easily the best in the series since 68.
I 100% think things would have been better the other way, though I will say the fact that Trump got elected means we have to own up to the fact he got this far at all, rather than just hide it under the rug and pretend everything’s okay. So yeah the activism and the increased awareness in current issues is probably the main positivity of note.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)
Meh. Can’t believe how little I cared about the movie. The problem was with the human cast, which was a big ball of yawn. Nobody stood out and everyone was just uninspired. The apes were pretty good but every time a human was onscreen I felt like I was back on Zion instead of enjoying my time in The Matrix.

Jeez, 5/10? The humans are definitely a weak link but they really don’t have that much screen time. Apes are the main focus and the main thing to care about.
Well if your only problem was boring humans, you needn’t worry about War. But the film in generally is much more similar to Dawn than Rise. If you liked the ape stuff though then you should be fine.

Disappointing? War is absolutely fantastic, though I don’t know if I can say you’ll like it if you didn’t appreciate Dawn.
