Wait, I always thought the ship in ROTS was a different ship with the same design?
Wait, I always thought the ship in ROTS was a different ship with the same design?
Damn, you read fast.
Count me down as team “what the fuck?” in the best way possible.
Signing on to a Star Wars project is a massive commitment. Years out of one’s life. An intense period of preparation, then relocating to England for the duration of the shoot. One reason Abrams initially balked at taking on TFA was either be away from his family or uproot them and bring them along.
Getting sacked from a Star Wars film is probably as mentally devastating as losing a presidential election. Even more so if you’ve been a life long fan. Who in their right mind is going to want that level of stress knowing the axe is constantly hanging over your neck?
There’s no doubt it’d be a crushing disappointment. But for many directors, Star Wars is the reason they wanted to make movies in the first place. Even with the threat of the axe, I’m sure many would hate themselves if they didn’t at least give it a shot. I know I would, anyway, if I were in that situation.
Ultimately too, what’s worse, getting kicked off a Star Wars movie before you start production? Or making a shitty Star Wars movie and having everyone hate you forever? Because it’s quite possible Trevorrow was heading for the latter.
Yeah, I forgot about him. Honestly I think they just made some hirings that weren’t to level they were ultimately expecting. Here’s hoping that their hesitation to announce the next slate of films means closer scrutiny before they bring people on.
Gareth Edwards wasn’t dropped.
Star Wars is the ultimate franchise for many directors. The dropping of directors just means that any new ones will have to bring their A-game.
The one concerning one is still the Lord/Miller firing, which does bring into question creative freedom, rather than simply quality. But we still don’t have the full story there.
Well I’m not going nearly that far to say I’ve lost respect for Dom just because of that comment, but it was sortof a dick thing to say and pretty snobby, but then again he might have just been mocking the other people who state their own opinions as facts around here so I’m not gonna ruffle his pedigoats about it.
Oh wait you actually thought I was being a dick? Nah man, saying your opinion is wrong isn’t me being dickish, just me being silly. Most people when they’re dicks about stuff like that they don’t say “but that’s okay,” they usually question your mental capacity or something.
Personally I can’t watch the blu-ray anymore without thinking how bad it looks, but that doesn’t mean I think people who don’t think that are stupid.
I also don’t mind the FOTR extended blu-ray or the Aliens blu-ray. So I’m not really that anal about it, though I do get it.
His style was the main complaint I’ve heard, but I got used to it pretty quick. I feel like most of the one star reviews probably just read the first chapter and stopped (or didn’t read it at all).
I can see why some might not like it, but some of the vitriol just doesn’t make sense.
Nah man the 2011 colors are pretty much shit.
Yeah I’ve never actually seen anybody complain about them outside of this forum besides maybe fanedit.org. I personally don’t like despecialized colors (everything else about it is amazing), and yes 2.7 is better but I’m not going to say it’s shit. The 2011 colors bother me in a few places, but I would say less than 5 places.
I mean you’re wrong but that’s okay.
I asked a friend of mine if the dish being in the center really mattered, and he said no, because it’s a very minor goof.
Thanks, we’ve all been on the edge of our seats waiting for your friend’s opinion on this matter.
I actually listened to it awhile ago and forgot to post, but I was pleasantly surprised by Inferno Squad. Didn’t think much because it’s a video game tie in, but it’s a pretty interesting and engaging story from a little seen perspective (imperial soldier). Audiobook is pretty good too, read by the actress from the game.
I also just finished Aftermath. Call me crazy, but I didn’t really get all the hate. Thought it wasn’t bad.
I think the official explanation is that there are multiple designs on the hard drive. Which would explain why we see the wrong one in Rogue One, but certainly wouldn’t explain why the Rebels are looking at the wrong one while planning their attack. That just doesn’t make sense. This was one of the best fixes in the original ANHR, I don’t know why it should be reverted back.
Neither Rogue One or A New Hope mentioned anything about multiple designs being on the hard drive.
They also don’t mention how the designs they have are very obviously incorrect.

The $475,000 price tag is much less than Wall Street expected and might disappoint some investors who hoped for a premium on such a complex drug.
I have a lot to say about this, but it’s all very close to breaking rule 3; so all I’m gonna say is that these fucking sociopaths are a blight on this Earth.
Is this the gene therapy thing?
It is.
Not that I think that’s a good price tag, but it does sound like a pretty expensive operation.
I don’t doubt that it’s expensive; I’m just amazed that they have the gall to sell it at $150,000 above what it ‘should’ cost, and then turn around and say “hey, at least it isn’t $800,000.” The profit motive doesn’t work for healthcare.
Yeah that’s obviously BS. I just hope that if the therapy is legit, it becomes more common and less pricey.

Not a single post on-topic yet. Frink, you urged them to take it here and now you come here and post off-topic stuff.
I mean…is there really anything more to post on the subject that wasn’t already discussed in the other thread?
No.
Obviously it’d be stupid for Clinton to run again, but I actually think if she went head to head with Trump again, it wouldn’t be as hard to beat him.

I tried to find the right photo of Luke saying “I care” but I couldn’t find it.
How. Just how.
Americans prefer Trump to me.
Only via the Electrical College.
That’s even worse!
She was shocked by the outcome.
Was a real hair-raiser.
No thanks.
Hillary Clinton says Bernie Sanders caused ‘lasting damage’ in book
Blame game or not, this is pretty much true.
I don’t see color
*sigh*
Does anyone besides internet geeks put that much stock in Rotten Tomatoes though? Comcast owns RT as well as Universal, so I’d take reviews there with a grain of salt. That is, if I gave a crap about RT. 😉
BOH will probably break even once it hits home video, streaming and cable. I’m sure Rifftrax is going to take a crack at it.
I would say studios care about RT scores, as well as audiences (they’ve become common in advertising). Not that I care all that much, but it is what it is: a review aggregator. And the general consensus was that Jurassic World was okay fun, and Book of Henry was just plain not fun at all.
Also the idea that Comcast is buying reviews there is pretty ridiculous. Who do you think made Book of Henry, after all?
I didn’t exactly hear glowing reviews for Jurassic World either. Universal was crying all the way to the bank. 😉
Rotten Tomatoes has an almost 50% difference in rating between those two films, so I don’t think there’s really much comparison.
JW was crowd pleasing, which helped it make money (Book of Henry wasn’t pleasing in any way, which helped it make almost no money). That plus I bet Frank Marshall gave Trevorrow glowing reviews (sounds like he’s a pretty nice guy) was probably what got him the job in the first place.
