Once you get over the incredibly bad CG (which, admittedly, is not an easy task - took me a couple tries), than you find it’s actually a pretty solid movie. I did, anyway.

I would love to give feedback on these, but I rarely get the chance to download and take a look on my computer. If you want more eyes (and ears), Vimeo will get you that.

Unsurprising, and a good decision. JJ was rushed enough as it was to do TFA. This is probably an even shorter timetable than that but he isn’t working from scratch this time, so it shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

Plus Star Wars movies fit so much better in December than May.

I don’t really think he has a “third act problem.” I’ve argued far too many times about TFA’s ending to do it again. And I think Super 8 is very underrated.

Though I do wish he was co-writing with Johnson, not Terrio (the latter being a bit concerning although I don’t think we can put all the BvS blame on him).

I’ve been to a handful of Fathom Events screening (LOTR extended trilogy, Singin’ In the Rain, Planet of the Apes), no complaints for any. Looking forward to E.T. next week.

That’s literally not true at all. Both Abrams and Johnson wrote/directed their films, and it seems like their were both pretty much given free reign. If “any” director could have directed Episode IX, they wouldn’t have just fired one. This is so obvious it hurts.

There’s a Finn line you missed that I’d probably call the most accurate one for the majority of people here (and in general).

Trevorrow was a very promising director after his debut and JW. Yes, it’s very possible it took two years to find out. Screenwriting is a long and complicated process, and it could definitely take awhile to realize someone just doesn’t have the chops to take the material where it needed to be. In fairness to Trevorrow, this is probably the hardest writing task of the trilogy for a variety of reasons.

Weird because the Solo firings are worse in pretty much every way imaginable. I’d very much like to find out what really happened there at some point in the future.

For now, ultimately the quality of the films will determine if Kennedy made the right decisions.

It depends where you see it. For the most part you’re getting a standard DCP like any other movie, though I suppose some theaters are shittier.

And I think it is the DC. Should be playing Wednesday too.

It’s certainly true of Josh Trank at least, who infamously got into some troubles during production (and release) of Fant4stic.

It’s possible it’s true of Trevorrow, though if people were supposedly frustrated with him on JW, Kennedy wouldn’t have hired him in the first place.

This is true. Not only is vanilla a perfectly fine and delicious flavor, but it is also the foundation of countless other classic, fantastic flavors as well.
