The first couple transitions work well. The third is rough, as you say, but honestly shouldn’t be terribly hard to smooth out (it’s really the music build-up fake out that kills it, if you cut out the music through the transition it should work better).

As for the idea itself, I like it, but I worry that it might not work so well in practice. Since it’s never stated outright, I think the fact that the Starkiller has two potential targets might lean more towards confusing than suspenseful. I still feel like practically speaking that Republic first, then they turn to the Resistance might work better.

I was making fun of people that hate CGI no matter what even if it looks a lot better than what a practical effect would look like. A couple years ago someone made a post nearly identical to mine except they were serious.

Yeah that’s the problem, that kind of statement is regularly made in all seriousness by people round here.

I really don’t mind the “this/the” thing that much. I agree the cut after “it” is pretty hard, I’d extend and fade that as much as possible.

The ambience helps, the only thing with that that’s still bothering me is the “Or maybe they do” line, when the audio for that cuts in it’s a little abrupt, I’d fade it in as much as possible (seems like there should be a little bit of space before she actually starts talking).

The other thing too that I noticed is it seems like the dialogue in the deleted scenes might be louder than in the rest of the film, I’d just check the levels on that to make sure it matches.

PT or not, the story is that Vader took a tumble into lava. I don’t see any reason to omit the eyebrow removal change just because it kinda references the PT.

How about because it just looks very silly? Like Duracell said, he looks like Humpty Dumpty.

Honestly I think he looks a whole lot sillier with the eyebrows.

Yes, there are female Star Wars fans, but not as many as there are male Star Wars fans.

You should have said that from the beginning.

Regardless, you might ask yourself why.

Why are there more female fans of Sex in the City than there are male fans? Why were there more male fans of American football than there are female fans? Men and women sometimes have different tastes.

The latter is another one that you’re not quite as right as you think you are on. Rabid football fans are split almost evenly between men and women these days.

But is it a problem if more men than women like Star Wars?

Why should it be?

There’s no reason why Star Wars should appeal more to men than women

You don’t know that.

Star Wars is a universal story about good vs. evil, hope vs. despair, and selflessness vs. selfishness.

Honestly tell me why should Star Wars appeal to men more than women?

You boil the story down to that to suit your argument, but there’s more to the films than just that.

Yes but that’s what they’re about. There’s nothing inherent about “Star Wars” that should be more suited to a man than a woman. The films aren’t about the male experience specifically, nor should they be. They should be for everyone.

You might say, well the OT only has Leia and then only a couple very minor female roles. To which I say yes, that is definitely a problem with the OT.

It is not the job of Star Wars to cater to all.

Why the fuck not? What is it about Star Wars that requires it to cater to straight white dudes only? Star Wars is supposed to be a universal story about the human experience.

Why does it matter that fewer women like Star Wars?

It doesn’t matter. People like what they like. They don’t what they don’t. It’s not for you to feel oppressed on their behalf when they couldn’t care less about it.

I’m saying it’s not a problem in and of itself but it is emblematic of other problems that exist in our culture (and in some ways the films specifically).

There’s no reason why Star Wars should appeal more to men than women, and yet it does, due to cultural/societal bullshit. I think it is a problem, though to what degree is definitely up for debate.

Citing equality doesn’t really fit, because they are not equal. Saying a woman should be paid as much as a man because a woman’s ability or intelligence is equal is not the same thing as saying women’s bodies, which are not identical to men’s, should be treated identically. Having a woman cover her breasts does not lower her social standing or make her to be inferior to a man.

Let’s turn the tables. Is the argument that a certain part of a man’s body should be censored because it’s different from that part on a woman a valid argument to you?

I don’t think it is censored because it different. I think there are reasons other than simply it being different as to why it is censored, and those reasons are potentially sound.

Women’s breasts aren’t just different-and-that’s-it. Men have sexual responses to them. Women have clothing that accentuates them. Women and men both treat women’s physical bodies differently than women and men both treat men’s bodies. Women have different attractions to men than men do to women, and so arguing that men’s bodies and women’s bodies should be treated equally (or identically) “because” isn’t reason enough to not treat the differently.

You don’t think women have sexual responses to men’s exposed chests? Part of the reason why men have such pent up attraction to breasts is by the nature that most of the time they are concealed - if they were more common place, this wouldn’t necessarily be the case. Ever wonder why dudes used to go crazy over legs?
