I would also like to make it clear that the Bereadeus sock was not me.
I would also like to make it clear that the Bereadeus sock was not me.
ROTS is a better movie than R1 at every single level.
No.
You’re not the first one I know to rank ROTS higher than R1
I didn’t do that.
Alright so I’m going to be that guy. I’ve been watching the Star Wars films the past few days (as one does at a time like this) and you can I guess chalk it up to childhood nostalgia, but, in all honesty I enjoyed ROTS better than RO (neither fan edited, mind you). There is no doubt in my mind that ROTS is the worse film, and I still rank it that way, but I just find it in many ways more interesting and engaging than RO (even if its mistakes make me even more angry). That old thing about a strong reaction vs. an indifferent reaction I suppose.
Just makes me excited to get back to my ROTS edit when I get the chance.
Possessed if you are annoyed to hear that, why would you repeat it for others to be annoyed at too? Come on man.
Fuck off unless you plan on asking everybody else to edit their posts too I’m not the one that opened up the can of worms. If the people that did the spoiling care to edit their posts then I’ll edit my repeatimg of it. Otherwise fuck off.
I did it anyway. But you can still fuck off for acting like this is my fault.
I clarified and made it pretty clear I wasn’t spoiling. Not sure how you missed that.
I don’t know how I could spoil something I don’t know almost anything about.
FYI I haven’t watched any trailers or anything, I’m in the same boat. The “risky” direction (i.e. Luke’s failure with his Jedi school and going into exile) is from TFA. Whatever his story is in TLJ (and whatever DE is bitching about) will be an extension of that.
I’m going to live out the rest of the year as the SW Universe’s greatest failure.
I don’t even understand this.
He apparently thinks that Disney has destroyed Luke’s character.
I don’t know how you could make that judgement based on 45 seconds of dialog-less film.
There’s much more than that out there now.
I’m not saying Disney’s ruined anything, but there’s a bunch of places to get confirmed info now.
First of all, yes, but let’s please not go into that here.
Second of all, to DE, it’s hilarious to say it’s Disney’s fault, like how does that even make sense? Why would Disney go in this direction (undoubtedly a risky one)? This is clearly the decision of filmmaker who has a specific story in mind for the character. To make a qualitative statement about that story before you’ve actually seen that story (rather than just out of context snippets) is one of the most ridiculous things a person could do.
Haven’t watched the video in full but the “saved in editing” statement is a bit of a misnomer. I would say it came together in editing, in the same way most films do.
Also, “Lucas Arts”??
That’s dumb and so is your new avatar.
It’s so dumb I actually legitimately couldn’t tell if he was joking or not.
I find The Room entertaining when
TommyJohnny’s on-screen, but it quickly becomes tedious when the movie’s focusing on the other characters. The “love scenes” between Lisa and Mark are amusing at first, but by the fourth one, I just start looking at the clock.I agree with you on the love scenes. The DVD is great because you can skip at a press of a button without missing anything.
You’re crazy about the rest though. Lisa and I Definitely Have Breast Cancer Claudette? Gold. Where’s My Money Chris-R and Denny? Gold. Lisa and Denny? Gold. The Me Underwears guy? Gold. Random unnamed dude at the party who berates Lisa? Gold. Terrible psychologist Peter (who shows up for no reason halfway through the movie)? Gold.
Everything other than the love scenes is gold, Jerry. Gold.
This is pretty much true. It’s maybe the most consistently enjoyable “bad” movie there is, no Rifftrax whatever necessary.
Even the sex scenes are funny in that ‘goes on for so long it stops being repetitive and becomes funny again’ kind of way.
Valerian isn’t great but it isn’t terrible either. Some interesting elements but ultimately it doesn’t leave a lasting memory. Horribly miscast too.
There’s also the third Cloverfield film, and The Predator, both of which I’m curious about.
Oddly enough the sequels won it this year (Blade Runner, Apes, and to a lesser extent Alien).
Guardians, Thor, and Kong were all good but I wonder if how much they qualify as sci-fi.
Original-wise, mixed bag. Only good ones I can think of were really more fantasy.
Looking forward to Downsizing.
The Room (2003)
Prep for The Disaster Artist…wife got us tickets for Saturday, and she had still never seen the original (not including the live Rifftrax version).
We laughed our asses off. As far as I’m concerned, anyone who doesn’t think this is one of the best films ever created can drop off the earth. That’s a promise.
11/10
You’re gonna enjoy The Disaster Artist.
I’ll believe it when I see it.
My heart is with Windu, but my brain sides with Anakin.
He should probably stand trial first.
He hasn’t been put in prison.

Good.
While it’s by no means a deal breaker. The decision to not address the main theme is disappointing. I think it’s fair to say it was the one thing about the film that was universally criticized.
Universal is not really the word.
Why?
A John Williams Star Wars score is kind of a sacred thing, and, though most don’t think about it that way, the Main Title is always a part of the whole - each one should be unique in its own way, like the individual scores themselves. The fact that the PT all use the same recording is a big issue to me (and emblematic of the main problems I have with the latter films’ scores).
From what I recall, Ady’s alternate, while nice, essentially grafts the opening blast of the original film’s Main Title onto TFA’s, which to me is a big no no, as it’s dipping into that PT recycling territory, while also stripping the TFA recording of its individuality.
For and edit that’s supposed to make TFA less of an ANH rehash, this is a change that would feel entirely out of place.
I can’t recall if the opening theme music was going to be replaced in this edit or not (I know other editors have and will replace it in their own edits). I know most people have planned to use the prequel version of the opening theme, but back when TFA came out on DVD, Adywan posted an edited version of the TFA theme that made it sound more like the London Symphony Orchestra’s versions that he planned to use for his own personal edit. Don’t know how to describe it, more “grandiose”? Anyway, I can’t remember when exactly he posted it but I went ahead and reuploaded the version he shared if anyone wanted to use it for their own or we wanted to consider using it for this version, since it is just an enhanced version of TFA’s own theme rather than using a different movie’s theme.

This is a very bad idea. No offense.
You’re missing the point.
The fact of the matter is it shouldn’t be a gender thing, it should be an issue against sexual assault. Period.
It is (and there actually are a lot of men breaking their silence), but the fact of the matter is that it is a gender thing, and that can’t be ignored.
I find it kind of unsettling that sexual abuse in the public conscious is all about men preying on women… it goes both ways… I’d know.
As someone who has been sexually harassed a couple times by women (real minor incidents, mind you), I sympathize, but let’s be real - one is frighteningly common while the other is fairly rare.
Yep.
Also, looking at the list of “Person of the Year” choices, this is far from the first time they picked multiple people.
If the title is called PERSON of the Year, how can you pick a group of people?
Easy to forget Time once picked a silicon based life form.
of the Year, how can you pick a group of people (women)?
Incoming Trump tweet.
