I’ve got them all in the Dark Horse omnibus collections. Colors look pretty good to me, but I don’t have much to compare them to (only have a couple original issues).

This Solo trailer could be great, but the film could suck. That’s how marketing works.

He lost control of the film. Taken away probably. He was not calling the shots at the end either way. Perhaps it just was not working or atleast that seems to be the general consensus.

There is the argument that Lucas was working with certain archetypes.
No one here is saying Lucas is/was racist. As to the rest I won’t dignify it with a response.
I don’t care enough about sports to be a fan of anything other than the teams from where I grew up. And even those teams I can barely call myself a fan of.
There’s not much reason for that though, other than that was kinda the default at the time so not much thought was put into that. Besides the main cast, you could very easily have swapped most every other player in the OT with someone of a different gender/race. Honestly, I’d even make the argument that you could swap with much of the main cast too (Lucas was at one point considering the idea of Luke as a girl, after all).
The idea that Lucas purposefully casted almost all white dudes is kinda silly, really is was ultimately something of an unfortunate oversight.
To me the mere presence of a familiar character or ship or whatever doesn’t really qualify as fan service, so long as their inclusion makes sense. Otherwise the existence of the movie(s) itself is fan service, which, yeah, I suppose so, but maybe the distinction here is good fan service vs. bad/misplaced fan service.
Bad/misplaced fan service would be of course a character or ship showing up that doesn’t make sense for the story or if there’s too many or they put too much undo emphasis on them like Evazan and Ponda Baba in RO. Like, if Boba Fett shows up, fine, we know he and Han run in the same circles. But the key is to make sure he’s only given as much importance as the film itself supports. I could imagine a scenario where he shows up and does something cool yet unimportant and vanishes like Hawkeye in the first Thor movie. That, to me, is bad fan service.
Darth Vader in RO comes dangerously close to this, honestly. All of his scenes are narratively dubious but at least it makes sense for him to be a part of that story. And, though some may disagree, I don’t think they prop his character up to be too much more than he actually is.
That’s the other fear with “fan service,” taking a character everyone loves and making sure they’re 110% cool and bad ass throughout (more so than the character actually is). They’ve done a very good job with this thus far, I won’t go into TLJ spoilers here but that film completely dodged the easy and obvious bad fan service bait with Luke Skywalker, which I’m very grateful for. They did the same with Han Solo in TFA (besides one very small moment), so for the most part I trust they’ll do his character justice here.

Read most of the original Marvel run a couple years ago, big fan. Some of my favorite Star Wars stuff out there.

AOTC and ROTS look totally fine to me in terms of picture quality; I mean it’s not like they look like 28 Days Later or something.
28 Days Later looks that way on purpose (I assume, I don’t know anything about picture quality).
I mean, if you’re saying they chose to shoot it on a shit camera, sure.
I’m saying I assume it’s meant to look bad. It’s a dirty grimy “dangerous” movie. And maybe they used a shit camera on purpose to achieve that look.

What a wonderful era of Star Wars this was. Back when there was only the original film and writers and artists were free to run around the galaxy however they pleased.Eh, I dunno. I tried reading those comics a while back and they were just really lame. I reckon the Dark Horse comics absolutely blew these old Marvel comics out of the water, and the new line of Marvel comics are also way better. Those old comics don’t feel like Star Wars and just aren’t my thing.

The question is raised pretty explicitly elsewhere in the movie already. The unicorn scene only exists to, at best, tip the scales in favor of “he’s a replicant.”

After rejecting it for a while, I honestly think an 3 hour epic cut of both films could be cool. I will still just be sticking to doing a regular last jedi edit but am looking forward to the 2 in 1’s that will be done.
They have such different visual aesthetics, and I don’t know if that would take me out of the whole experience.
