Rosemary’s Baby
I fell asleep watching this, but I know this was supposed to be good. It didn’t really do much for me, but it was truly demented.

If it makes you feel any better, I outright dislike this movie.

I haven’t seen it, but I dislike Roman Polanski, so I’m okay.

😦 But… but… Chinatown

My thought exactly, then I thought maybe he meant as a person.

It’d be nice if the cinematic universe BS was just jettisoned once and for all and we could get superhero movies that strive to tell their own stories without being tailored to fit into one great big homogenized continuity and serve as mega-trailers for pointless crossover films.

That’s what’s weird about it, it seems like that’s actually what they’re doing here.

My point exactly.

I see. It would be nice if they actually went through with it, but somehow I doubt it.

If you are like me and don’t have cable, and no good over-the-air reception, here is what you should do.

Activate your 14 day free trial of YouTube TV, and watch the Olympics for free!

If you have a way to download and watch the NBC Sports app, that’ll do it.

Nope. They require cable signin. first 30 minutes for non-users is free, then limited to 5 minutes a day. or so i read.

Oh damn. I guess I’ll have to steal someone’s login.

The Cloverfield Paradox

I liked a lot of things about it, the set design, some of the music, the cast; but in the end, it’s a movie about a whole lot of things just happening because parallel universe and there’s not much to hold it all together.

I guess I forgot to mention my number score or whatever. 2.5/5, or 5/10, or whatever. A fairly competent movie, but far from a good one.

I thought it was good for what it was. I don’t expect greatness from this franchise, just diverting sci-fi thrillers (well sure a lot of 10 Cloverfield was great but still).

Agree the only great flim in my opinion was 10 cloverfield lane.

Even that was only mostly great. They’re basically designed as b-movie throwbacks (for example, the next one has Nazis in it). That’s how I view them anyway.

It has been confirmed as the funniest Star Wars movie to date, apparently.

Good grief. The humor has begun to get a bit overboard in the new films for me. Rogue One had a nice balance of humor similar to the OT which only has a few subtle jokes. And I’m quite sure a western noir isn’t meant to be the funniest movie in a franchise that has the prequels and TFA+TLJ.

The prequels aren’t funny. And this should be the funniest Star Wars movie. I think it’ll be pretty pulpy, that’s what’ll tie these genres together, just playing around with these genres in a fun, retro-styled way. It’s all kinda perfect for the character.

I think it will be open ended. It’s better to be able to continue the adventures of young Solo.

How old was Han Solo in ANH?

29/30

Yep, although in general Star Wars is vague with character ages and timeframes. I actually don’t even know where this number comes from but it seems to be generally agreed upon.

http://ew.com/movies/2018/02/07/solo-star-wars-alden-ehrenreich-interview/

Interesting little interview with the star. Also some intriguing teases, later today there’ll be a piece about Ford’s impact on the film, and on Friday it sounds like they may talk about the firings/hiring.

Also, I guess Ron Howard says the movie is like a western and noir film, which I guess explains what people mean by the gray look. I haven’t seen too many images, all I know is that Bradford Young is a great DP, so I trust at least that aspect of the film will be good.

I’m annoyed by Rogue One’s abrupt end, if you compare it to the rest of Star Wars. I wonder if that’s going to become a Anthology thing and Solo will also end sort of abruptly.

That’d be a weird tradition to have. Seems more like a result of the story Rogue One was telling.

It’s not inconceivable for Solo to end with Han landing at Mos Eisley or going into the cantina.

It kinda is though.
