I’m in the same time zone as Chicago, does that count?
I live in the same country?

I would make a film about an albino Superman.
What aspect ratio?
9:16
I would make a film about an albino Superman.
The idea that Rian doesn’t think Snoke is interesting is just as deliberate a misunderstanding as Frink’s.
Anyone who cares about quality shouldn’t be purchasing digital copies.
Sure! If you have a 100 inch screen in your house. 😛
I’m surprised to read a dismissive comment about 4K on this site. I thought OT forum was very much built around wanting the very best ‘technical’ presentation of Star Wars, from sound, to accurate colour representation, to resolution - aren’t these technical aspects fundamental to Originaltrilogy.com? Or do forum members actually not care that much?
I care, but 4K for home use is primarily a scheme to get me to buy a new 4K tv, a new 4K player, a new 4K ready receiver, etc. Half of what’s on the format is simply upscaled from 2K. Pixar doesn’t even render their films at 4K.

And don’t even get me started on 30 year old movies with questionable Atmos remixes and no original mix option in sight. I’m not about to drill holes in the ceiling of a 40 year old house to put Atmos speakers above me, either.
The displays I’ve seen in stores look very nice, but they just don’t look like film to me. I imagine a lot of crap in the tv has to be switched off to get a film like image though. When a restored non buggered OOT is on 4k, wake me. 2001 and The Shining might get me to budge as well. I am getting a bit long in the tooth to consider rebuying all my favorite movies again on a for a third time.
Thankfully, I’ll probably be too old to care when 8K comes along. 😉I was glad to see your comments of 4K not looking like film. I agree. Many films or TV programs I’ve seen in 4K have the soap opera look to it…kinds like 60 fps with LOTR did for me.
That’s a separate issue called motion smoothing.

Call Me By Your Name (2017)
I smuggled this into my house and watched it tonight. I don’t know how I feel about it. The cinematography is frequently gorgeous, the actors are great, and of course any kind of gay story is catharsis for me, but I’m still not quite sure how I feel about this. It seemed like a long daydream, for better or worse.
Never thought of it that way but I’ve found most of my relationships to have that sort of odd yet beautiful daydreaming quality to them. Definitely appreciated that aspect of the film, felt very emotionally authentic in many ways.
I haven’t seen the reboot, so I don’t know why I’m making this comment.
I haven’t read your comment, so I don’t know why… uh
Well I thought I knew where I was going with this when I started typing, at least.
The reboot is much worse. At least I’m able to enjoy II, despite how dumb it is.
Hard disagree on all points.
So you don’t think it’s dumb?
Still so disappointed in the luke we got. Super lame. I wanted luke to do some really epic lightsaber fighting stuff or like he could destroy a whole planet wiith the force that would be really cool. this is what the fans really wanted
https://youtu.be/PLV-Vpy1gqQ?t=1m53s
but instead we get emotional luke. emotions are LAME
#notmyluke
Especially weird considering Luke having emotions is completely out of character.
The reboot is a lot better. Not that that’s saying much.
Well, 2001 is actually on the way to 4K.
I thought Storm Reid was fantastic and probably the best part. I liked the core of the story, though it was definitely a mess. I feel like a few rewrites that honed in the focus more would have done it good. Really liked the visuals too, even if some of the effects were less than great (though not much worse than the typical modern CG fests). Some of the designs were definitely out there, but I appreciate that, even if it didn’t really come together in a coherent way.

“Sources” claim that Colin Trevorrow was ousted for trying to give certain parts of the fanbase what they really wanted. Not because the producers didn’t like his big shot attitude or that they saw Book of Henry.
I call major bs on that. The timeline doesn’t make sense, Rian would’ve already finished his script by the time Colin was hired, so if he didn’t want to continue that story he would’ve been fired a long time ago. Not to mention TLJ was basically all done by the time he was ousted, so that doesn’t really make sense that he be so adamant to change something that’s already more or less set in stone.
“Everything” is a little hyperbolic, I thought there was a lot that was good about it. I also wouldn’t call it sci-fi.
At first I read QC as “QVC” and I thought this was all either a bad joke or an incredibly odd coincidence.
No clue why it was the blue one.
Weird, I feel like this has been explained multiple times.
Sorry Dom, it was, and I understood. Your reasoning and the way you put it was very convincing and showed me new light - what I meant is that at first I thought it was simply to tell the audience that Luke was a trick. It was explained multiple times indeed.
I see, no prob.
- Stalker (1979)
Yes.
This is one of the few that is on my “need to watch” list.
- Triumph of the Will (1935)
No. I watched this. I sat through the whole thing. Believe me when I say there is nothing redeeming about this piece of shit. Nazis are, and always were scum, of course, but even without the evilness of them, this movie is constant marching and yelling. Marching. And yelling. Marching. Three hours. Just. Marching. And yelling.
There is nothing, nothing worth seeing here.
Similarly, anyone who hasn’t seen The Birth of a Nation would be doing themselves a favor by keeping it that way.
^That appears to be missing context.
No clue why it was the blue one.

The Poe Dameron series is definitely my favorite, though I haven’t read the Lando one yet (just ordered from Amazon).
Dude, come on, this is pathetic even for you. I don’t know how how much more obvious this can be. I’m not sure if you’re just grasping at straws here or if you legitimately don’t have a sense of humor and/or have trouble decoding social interactions (in which case I apologize). But this is ridiculous. Mark wasn’t even supposed to be at this panel, I don’t think he had any obligation to show up. The two are very clearly good friends.
Crazy that there are people out there that unironically think the prequels are any good.
Woah man, that’s hate speech. How dare you, freakin bigot.
Was skimming through a copy of the TLJ novelization at a Barnes and Noble, I think I found out what a couple scenes are…
- “Rose and Finn Go Back to Where They Belong” is Finn dragging Rose back to the base on Crait, and her sorta waking up and pointing out that earlier in the movie she was the one dragging him.
- the “Rey and Chewie on the Falcon” scene is most likely a short snippet where they see all the walkers firing at Luke (although I don’t think they know it’s him), and they turn around or something.
Okay well with the digital release, the scenes are now out there (saw a few on twitter). Turns out my initial guess for that Rose and Finn scene was actually right (and ^this wasn’t). ^That is more or less the Rey and Chewie scene though.
As for the scene that everyone’s been waiting for - the Caretaker village - it’s really good, oddly enough the main issue is actually its placement. Takes place right after Rey’s second lesson*, which feels wrong (this, just as Rey and Luke seem to start getting along). But then, do you put it on the other side of the Fathier chase, right before Rey talks to Kylo and goes to the cave? Might be weird.
*it seems like it’s not the third lesson because it’s actually just a sort of continuation of the second. Presumably the third is simply untaught.
