Now I’m not sure you’ve actually seen the movie. I can see how you would look at the poster and think it’s a good movie. Actual movie says otherwise.
I didn’t say if I enjoyed it, I just said why I watched it.
And it was okay-ish.
Oh and a scene of Lando kissing everyone (even the ewoks)at the end celebration, you know to show of his new-found sexuality.

Whereas I tend to think IX will possibly do better than TLJ.
Ultimately it’s all a guessing game at this point, I just think there are a lot of factors at play here that make more sense to me.

I don’t buy the “protest” argument at all (seems a little tin foil hat to me). If hardcore fans didn’t like TLJ, they probably know that Solo has nothing to do with it. IX’s performance will be a better indicator of the true response to VIII. I think the “boycott Soylo” group is a pretty minor demo, especially considering most of those people probably saw it anyway.
As always with SW, the fact of the matter is most of the audience is made up of casual fans at best. For them I think the main reason is that they still see Star Wars as one single franchise, whereas something like Marvel is a combination of different franchises (which is to say nothing of the fact that Solo’s performance is roughly on par with most Marvel origin movies). I do think the five month gap probably hurt it, as people aren’t used to so much SW at once, and checked out when they felt this one was skippable.

In-flight movie that I didn’t finish because it was a short flight, but I had some fun.
I was on a plane the other day and it seemed like 70% of the passengers were watching this movie.
I however, had already seen it, so I watched You’ve Got Mail instead.
My grandfathers both died in their late 60s (this was over 20 years ago because I’m old).
Somehow both my grandmothers are still kicking around at 94 years old each.
Same, except one of my grandmothers passed away last year.

I have yet to really find anyone who strongly disliked this movie. I am amazed at how poorly it is doing. I thought it was great!
Every time I look it’s still the number one movie at the box office. Maybe it’s just a bad time for movie goers?
It’s number 1 but I think it’s not got much competition.
Yes and no. It hasn’t had much competition since it came out. But there were two big movies beforehand (Avengers and Deadpool) that surely ate into its numbers.
There’s no denying it’s going to make bad numbers relative to the other Disney SW movies, including RO.
That fact shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. The problem is it’s making even less than just that.
Because I hate that song.

Jumped at the Eventbrite link when I first saw it but was sad to see it had happened the day before. Would love to see a presentation like this if you have another planned in the area.
I don’t really think it’s a whole lot worse than anything else in the first couple seasons. None of them should ever had been packaged for theaters, that was the main issue.

I think Neverending Story is probably a better comparison. Neverending Story is kinda bad too but I saw that one as a child.
Oddly enough I saw that as a kid and didn’t like it. But I saw Labyrinth a few years ago and enjoyed it.
