I may have been looking at this for far too many hours but I’m not happy with the timing change on Rey’s close-up. I’ve had to slow parts down to almost 50% just to get the sequence timing right.
I’m open to scrutiny on this one…?

Yup that works for sure.
Y’know, could keyframed zooming remove the slight camera zoom during that second shot of Luke? That might help sell it so that the first shot zooms in and then we merely cut back to that angle again.
It’s not a zoom, it’s a dolly/boom (the camera is moving) so it’d look pretty odd. I think in this scenario it’d be better to just stay on the shot of Rey.
MR, that’s a much better placement of the line. I still feel like it’s a bit unnecessary? But I guess if the idea is to remove “you’ll take both sabers” then it does have some purpose.

Sometimes I read this thread and I feel like I’m losing my mind. I still don’t understand what the point of adding this line would be. I don’t blame you guys because all we have to work with when it comes to additional stuff is scraps, but… I mean they’re scraps.

I extended the Rey shot, faded the music together to make it longer, tested the 'Always be with you" no idea if this works,
Audio integration wise it’s well done but the way it’s delivered sounds like it’s part of the same train of thought as the previous sentence, rather than the next. I don’t think you can fix this no matter how much you extend, the cut from Rey to Luke is there to signify the shift in his dialogue. It would have to go after “a thousand generations.”
Personally though I’m not sure I understand what is being added here…

Watching that video you can definitely tell that Williams hated the idea but hey the music editor had a gun to his head, what can you do.

I’m not good with colour correction, someone else would need to test it but, I think Mustafar could look a lot better with a bit more of a Orange / hellish tint, I know Mustafar is rejuvenating itself but I think it looking a little more like Revenge Of The Sith colour wise would be a lot better.

One thing that could be good for the community to loop around to is adding some lava to this shot.
I’ve got a handful of very specific nitpicks that I think are very accomplishable (though not necessarily “easy”) if Nev is game. Looking fantastic (that first shot - wow).
Alternate ideas like Rey killing her parents and RL’s vision thingy are great, personally I’m on the side of skepticism as to how they can be accomplished and that’s why I’m going with the most conservative route possible. But I would be glad to be proven wrong.

Beyond the “taking one last look” moment the film treats 3PO’s memory wipe as a joke, probably because it’s not permanent and so it’s not meant to be taken too seriously. But if he didn’t get his memory back it would feel even more jarring/disrespectful how the other characters don’t seem to care much about it and how the film constantly makes a joke out of it.
He’s had his memory permanently wiped before, and that was treated as a joke too.
Eh, I’m happy just removing the asinine statement to the audience before it happens that it will be temporary.
You’d have to remove 3PO saying R2 is receiving a message from Master Luke. Unless you remove the first part of his line and add a syllable to read, “He (or this fellow or something) says he is receiving a message from a ‘Master Luke’.”
I really like the DOTF idea of having R2, who famously dodged a memory wipe in Ep3, manually recounting their history to him. But with what we have to work with, I don’t want to remove him getting them restored.

Thankfully both are spoken off screen so that’s at least one part of the equation we don’t need to worry about.
If people can come up with a way to accomplish these, I think that changing the line from “Your brother’s saber” to “Your family’s saber” and “The death of her son” to “The birth of her son” would be a great fix for both.

Perhaps the log scene could be darkened, but I feel like it works for me pretty well. I feel like if the colors were like this in the film, I would understand that dawn was approaching.
Since we don’t see the sun crest until the x-wing scene, up til then should really have that dim blue look.
This is the best I’ve seen it so far, but I’m still not buying those shots in the sitting on a log scene. Way too warm and bright.
I never got the issue about that line. Lando tells her “only two were made.” Rey doesn’t realize the other is in the ship she was in. Realizing that a second one is with her prompts her to recall Lando’s words.
Not poetry, but it’s fine.
I cut it out because it feels like clunky exposition during an emotional scene. We don’t need to hear her make the connection to what Lando said (in fact, I’ve considered cutting Lando’s line as well). She should be able to figure out by herself that Kylo must have had one.

Yeah it’s an amazing “what if” but I just don’t see it. Honestly RL that’s a nice idea but I feel like even that wouldn’t necessarily work, would feel a bit like a non sequitur. Perhaps if some wizard could successfully comp Kylo from the scene where he phone calls Palps into the Falcon, you could place it with that, but even that much seems like it’d be too much work.
