So if we have

• Rey on the Falcon at the end,
• with her friends with her playing chess
• And 3PO’s memory remains wiped

Can we add something to the final falcon scene around R2 telling 3PO the whole story as a callback to GL’s original idea of the saga being a story that was being told to someone who was unfamiliar with it?

I love the “Ben goes into Exile” idea. I think that is a much stronger button on the story than “he’s dead and that’s it I guess”

Even though the majority swung away from my vote on a few places, I would be perfectly happy with an exit that incorporated all the majority and consensus votes.

Edit: I would love to see something like this for all 9 (11) films. Questions could be in the vein of finding out what changes people prefer for saga cohesion. i.e. Do people prefer trying to make the PT completely conform to the impressions given in the OT or do we lean towards a balanced nip and tuck to clear away most inconsistencies.

Personally I want a Ben lives version and I really like DominicCobb’s idea about how that would work.

I would still want the alternate “Rey Skywalker” audio with this version, and the Falcon going into hyperspace.

Also, in addition to Jonh’s amazing “I am all the Jedi” upgrade, was something decided on for the scene where she communes with the Jedi? We still just going to hear them?

Computers crapping out on you can be the worst, especially when you lose so much hard work. Sorry to hear that.

The purple makes me want the saber she’s using throughout the film to be yellow. If she rebuilt Anakin’s saber the crystal would likely attune to her energy, as happened with Ahsoka’s when Anakin held onto them.

Edit: Just watched it again, and it still gave me chills. We needed the visual representation of their help and this is amazing.

Hux being a spy felt like a natural development after being treated like a butt monkey in TLJ.

What is lackluster about it in your opinion?

Slightly off-topic, but still re Threepio: I think it makes sense to cut his memory being erased in RotS and in ANH edit his dialogue with R2, so that when he’s talking to Luke about R2’s mission a viewer could infer that they’re sussing out whether Luke is trustworthy.

That is the long version of making it clear in TRoS that his restored memory includes 1-3 though…

• “Who are you?”
• Voiceover begins, as we see her look away to sees the spirits of her adoptive family (Luke and Leia) and an implicitly redeemed Kylo Ren, then she re-boards the falcon
• Voiceover is cut from some of her lines on TLJ during her training: “Who am I? Violence. Peace. Cold. Warmth. Death. Life. Dark. Light. I am balance.”
• Falcon shoots off into hyperspace against the twin suns.
• Final VO line, either “I am Rey” or “I am the Force”.

Thinking about the Palpatine illusion vs Clone thing I am torn as I actually love that Rise of Skywalker is an adaptation of the Dark Empire Trilogy. Snoke as an imperfect Palpatine Clone, etc…

But as said it doesn’t necessarily service Rey’s arc. 😕

There is a lot there that I think would go nicely with what you’re working one. Just a thought!

The sound mix in your opening is quite loud and doesn’t flow well from the tale of the fanfare into the rest, it is very clear that something is up to me. And when the soundeffects from the RO: vader scene are heard, I can hear that they’re mixed into the ANH soundscape from another source.

You do realize they explicitly wipe his memory in RotS? Are you planning on eliminating that too?

Yep, the way it happens in RotS is played as a joke, and as SW continues to provide more and more nuanced droid characters, it becomes horrifically cruel and callous. AND it makes him willingly sacrificing his memory in TRoS kinda meaningless.

Glad I’m not the only one. One person’s tsundere is another person’s sexual harassment victim.

It was actually pretty upsetting for my partner and I during our last watch through of the Saga, so when we got to ESB and they were arguing on Hoth we stopped and skipped right to TFA.

Cut Obi-Wan calling Anakin a cunning warrior

I like most of these little continuity tweaks, but I was wondering what your idea was with this one. I’ve always thought one of the best things about TCW is that it shows us an Anakin who does fit that description.

My current issue with that line is that he is praising Anakin’s warrior prowess, which seems to me to contradict the understanding the surviving Jedi have that becoming warriors and fighting in the war was a major factor in their downfall. Luke acts on this in RotJ when he throws away his weapon as he declares himself a Jedi.

Okay, I actually really like Palpatine as a Sith Crystal and Snoke as Cultist leader, together with RogueLeader’s ideas regarding Rey embracing who she is, these idea would also keep the climax from being “Jedi kills someone”, touching I think, on all the aspects of what it would mean for Rey to surpass the Jedi.

Along the lines of Rey embodying the best of and surpassing the Jedi, Rey seeing through the Crystal by embracing the WHOLE force would give meaning to the opening epigraph in the TFA novelisation:

"“First comes the day
Then comes the night.
After the darkness
Shines through the light.
The difference, they say,
Is only made right
By the resolving of gray
Through refined Jedi sight.”
―“Journal of the Whills, 7:477”

(Which I always wanted to see in TFA instead of “A long time ago in a glaxy far, far away…”)

There are a lot of things in TRoS (and TFA) that connect to old Legends stories; Sheev being able to lightning a fleet, Sheev returning as a clone, Luke’s nephew turning to the Dark Side and killing his fellow Jedi in part because of Vader’s shadow, Sheev having an extremely powerful grandchild, Luke’s female Jedi student (Rey/Jaina) having to kill the fallen male student (Ben/Jacen) who she has a strong bond with, a large fleet built by the Empire and secreted away as a contingency plan, Chewbacca (almost) dying.

The problem is put them all together and they add up to one too many, Sheev lightning the fleet is that one for me.

The way she says it there actually sells me on the idea of her saying that line at all. Excellent job.

I highly recommend it! Some of my favorite star wars stories happen in that show!

If we make her lightning Gold, but don’t change the lightning that kills Sheev, and play around with Rey’s reaction shots, then it could make it much clearer that she’s defending herself rather than attacking him.

I’m considering a few things, though most of these are more “conservative” than radical, they touch on things that many people would consider sacred cows.

For ANH:
Start with the “Vader Cut”
Cut C-3PO not remembering Obi-Wan in convos with R2, try and make it seem like he’s pretending around Luke until he knows he’s safe
Cut Obi-Wan not remembering R2
Cut Obi-Wan saying Owen hated that Anakin went off on some fool crusade
Cut Obi-Wan calling Anakin a cunning warrior
Cut all references to Tarkin having authority over Vader
Cut the probe droid from the Leia interrogation, find a way to imply she resisted via the Force

ESB:
Trim the antagonism in the Leia/Han romance to make him less of a pushy asshole who doesn’t listen when a woman says she isn’t interested. And so his “I know” is actually charming.
Either reinstate Temeura Morrison’s Boba Fett redub or source new lines.
Cut Obi-Wan’s “that boy was our only hope” and Yoda’s “no, there is another”. It goes nowhere if they are referring to Leia and is an unnecessary sequel hook

RotJ:

Luke arrives to Vader unarmed, takes Vader’s saber to attack Sheev, Vader defends with Obi-Wan’s lightsaber.

End on Luke burning Vader’s body

A few do, like Anakin telling her to balance the force like he did.

I would like there to be a way to highlight that Rey’s desire to help others and get involved is explicitly a good thing and the anti-thesis to Jedi detachment, and not her repeating the other Jedi mistake of rushing into a war.

I agree. In TCW and TLJ it’s made pretty clear that their issue was arrogance, the whole becoming soldiers thing, and their teachings of detachment and non-interference.

What about Rey either is, or could be made to reflect an answer to those issues?

Canonically Exogol isn’t a Sith Homeworld (that’s Korriban/Moriband) but rather a sith hiding place.

I’m looking forward to this, though I do hope the voice acting is optional.

I also wish we’d gotten more Lego Clone Wars games as well.

Not necessarily directed at Adywan, but now that Temuera Morrison is gonna be playing Boba Fett in The Mandalorian Season 2, I wanna see a version of this with his re-recorded Boba lines put back in.

Congrats on getting your version finished. I imagine it will be a go to for a lot of folks.

Maybe instead of “suffocate” you go with “extinguish”. Unless that’s beating the spark motif to death

You can suffocate a flame too, so it doesn’t seem like an issue to me.

I really love making it about the fleet rather than Palpatine. Brings me back to Dark Force Rising and goes a long way to make the Dark Empire reveal an actual surprise.
