And I don’t see how the Wii U isn’t that.

You’re saying the WiiU has perfect controller design?

He was referring the ability to link a GC controller to the Wii U.

The reason you can do that in a Wii is because the Wii also has GameCube parts in it, so when it emulates a GameCube, it’s hardware emulation. Same with the WiiU. Wii Mode on the WiiU is hardware emulation of the Wii, meaning the GameCube controller does not function on the WiiU like it does for the Wii because the WiiU wasn’t designed specifically for that function. Plus, when you plug a GameCube controller in for use on the WiiU, you plug it into a Wii Remote, not the console. It’s not really equivalent.

I want Nintendo to make a direct stylistic sequel to the GameCube called the Game³. Like an upgraded GameCube with stronger hardware and modern capabilities, but still retaining the sleek design sensibility and perfect controller design.

I think they called it the Wii U.

No. The Wii U is nothing like the GameCube.

It sold terribly; had a great lineup of games, although not many due to limited third party support; had the ability to use a second screen as a controller, introducing unique gameplay that was ultimately underutilized; had neat cover art; and had the best controller for Smash Bros ever.

It’s a direct sequel to the Wii, hence the use of that name. Only it’s really a beast of its own even then.

Since you added this bit in later, the Wii is basically a GameCube with motion controls. There is really little difference hardware-wise. If the GameCube sold as well as the Wii did, they’d have definitely capitalized on the name.

I just said I wanted a new GameCube, that looks like a GameCube, and has GameCube styled controllers, and functions like the GameCube but with upgraded hardware and capabilities. Regardless of the real life context around them releasing such a thing.

Yeah, and I said the Wii U fits that bill. It doesn’t really look like a GameCube, but if I may quote your original post:

And I don’t see how the Wii U isn’t that.

As you say, it doesn’t look the part, and of course, it doesn’t have my ingenious name idea. 😛

Also, was the Wii U backwards compatible like the early Wiis? Because if not that’s definitely out of the picture.

I mean, sure, the internal hardware is similar, but that wasn’t my point at all. I just said I wanted a new GameCube, that looks like a GameCube, and has GameCube styled controllers, and functions like the GameCube but with upgraded hardware and capabilities. Regardless of the real life context around them releasing such a thing. And I just really like the name Game³.

How about a thread where you fuck off?

You’re one for telling me to let it go, when you can’t stop bringing up that single post I made.

And it was a movie reference.

Only because YOU…

No excuse. You can’t let it go. It doesn’t matter what I do.

This bickering is pointless. Please shut it. Thank you.

I forgot to mention, I have a Sega Genesis hooked up too, and that’s all you really ever need.

+100%

I have a Japanese Mega Drive (model 1 first run) hooked up to a 32 inch CRT via HDRetrovision’s YPbPr miracle products. Outside of getting it region modded some time and possibly getting a nice Sony Trinitron to replace the flat glass screen I’ve got, that blast processing is definitely all I really ever need.

I also have a GameCube that stopped functioning, that’s currently waiting at a friend’s house for a different friend to take a crack at fixing it (since he fixed his own previously).

The rest of my consoles are actually my brother’s. Original XBOX, XBOX 360, PS3, PS4, Wii, extremely broken GameCube. I think that’s it.

Speaking of Dune again, does anybody here know where I could find the Third Stage fanedit? The faneditinfo links are down (it’s all Frinks doing! 😉) and nobody responded in that thread.

I might somewhere, but it’s more likely that I have the Alternative Edition Redux. I’ll try to remember to check when I get home from work tonight, but you might wanna shoot me a PM to remind me.

Cool, thanks. I actually grabbed the Alternative Redux but decided not to watch it because I’m such a purist with a stick up my bum. Enemy PMs coming your way.
