Harmy's RETURN OF THE JEDI Despecialized Edition HD - V3.1

You guys are misusing the word anamorphic - anamorphic 1080p would be 1440x1080 (with black bars in case of 2.35:1 movies), which would then be stretched to 16:9 for viewing.

I was totally going to call them out on that but you beat me to it Harmy.

EDIT: Crap! Now yoda-sama mentioned it while I was typing. I’m just slow.

You guys have to try harder than that.

Disc Four - Outtakes and Previously Unreleased Material

  1. Lapti Nek - 2:48
  2. Ewok Celebration (Film Version)* - 6:22

I’m pretty sure that that one contains the same alternate recordings and not the theatrical versions.

Superbowl L
Time

Yeah, I’m also kind of sick of the NFL officials getting all up about “poor sportsmanship” and “taunting”. It’s just stupid. But, the game did make me happy, for a couple of reasons.

  1. Peyton Manning got his Superbowl win.
  2. In the 4th quarter, the Panthers runner made a lateral pass while running, and that’s the stuff that the sport is missing nowadays that it used to have in abundance. Taking chances. Changing plays on the fly to make things work. Actually playing well. That’s why I don’t like watching football now, none of the players do anything special, except for a few big players like Cam Newton on the Panthers for instance.

Ranking the Batman films

The films weren’t even very realistic, come to think of it.

…which is why I also liked the Burton films, which were so weird and nothing like comic books either (I think Batman murdered a few people in both).

Um… Burton’s films were definitely like comic book. His films may not have been directly based on plots from the comics, and he changed a few things plot-wise, but it was definitely world accurate. Also, Batman killing people is actually accurate to early Batman comics. That was before some crazy lady got upset that this DARK SUPERHERO was setting a bad example for the kids, so the writers were forced to shoehorn in the “Batman doesn’t kill” rule. I have always thought that the indifference Batman had towards killing was an essential piece of his character. His parents were murdered in front of his face, and he’s taking revenge on criminals, by putting them in jail, injuring them, or killing them if necessary. These are terrible people, and they have it coming. The reason “Batman” and “Batman Returns” are my favorite Batman films is because they were pretty much comic books jumping out onto the screen. Inaccuracy to plot and trying too hard to portray a comic book realistically are different things.

I would say that his performance was fabulous, but his character just isn’t the true Joker. I definitely like TDK the most of the Nolan films, mainly due to Ledgers performance, but he alone can’t save how poorly a superhero world like Batman translates into a “so realistic/action movie”. The films weren’t even very realistic, come to think of it. Nothing beats Burton’s Batman/Returns in live action motion pictures.

What is your home theater setup for watching Star Wars movies? (or what equipment would like to get if you could afford it/or dream setup?)
Time

I’ve been thinking about getting a 50" to 65" rear-projection HD CRT. I’ve found that films generally look better on CRTs, and the only obstacle with these is trailering them to my house and getting it through the door. I also thought that these would be a good alternative to a CRT projector, which would be the best option, but those are apparently difficult to use if you don’t have a bachelor’s degree in projection. 😃
